Well the guys who wait it out and screw the teams around who drafted them irritate me, that's what Hayes and Vesey did. I don't think that should be allowed.</div></div>
Good on you lol.
I do think they should be allowed to do that. Teams have so much control over their players, we shouldn't frown upon players exercising CBA rights. If a player wasn't allowed to do that, he would be forced to play for a team where he doesn't want to go until he turns 27. I think that's too extreme.

Secondly, if they feel they need another center(I'm not convinced that the Jets do)and they're willing to trade Vesalainen it better be for someone with term like Zibenejad.</div></div>
What are you talking about? Hayes is the nicest guy ever.

Yes, he is. My bad. I got them mixed up. Adam Fox would be acceptable, or Kuokkanen and something else.

No thanks, Brassard has been bad this season, and I don't think Maatta or Oleksiak should be anything more than a n5 D in a good team. I think trading Zib should be considered because when we become good, he'll be a 28YO in an expiring deal. If you can yield a great return (multiple picks and good prospects), you trade him. You keep him otherwise.

Not enough... You've been competent for so long that you don't have great prospects, but if I'm NYR I would ask for one of Hallander or Addison, a 2019 1st, and another pick (a 2nd? a future conditional 1st?).

Let's try: Ottawa adds Alex Formenton, Drake Batherson and a 2020 1st. That's what it takes for NYR to consider taking on Ceci's cap hit AND parting with Kreider in the same trade, I think.

I understand that the return is too much, but aren't you overvaluing Studnicka? He's not even a guarantee to make it in the NHL, never mind being a lock to become a top 6 center

ending the drought next year- NYR PIT TOR COL CBJ
While value-wise, the NYR trade is pretty even, I don't think the Rangers say yes. Right now there is no pressure to be good, and cap room is not a need. If NYR do trade Zibanejad, it will be for a combination of good young players and picks, not to get rid of Staal's contract.

Cogliano has no value to NYR. If they trade Kreids as a rental in 2020, they can easily get a 1st round pick (and probably something more). There is no reason to trade him now if the return isn't great, never mind for the package you offered.

He's got 1.5 years left on his contract. Unless an offer of a 1st, a 2nd, and a good prospect comes along, NYR hold on to him.

Hayes is almost a point per game 26YO center, and he is defensively responsible. You can ask for more than a first round pick. I don't know what the other people who replied to this post are on.

Deadline CGY COL EDM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>InTreWeTrust</b></div><div>That is exactly why you are going to see teams start to shy away from giving up high round picks / prospects for rentals at the TDL. That CGY package is the same as we gave for Hamonic for a top 4 D under a team greindly contract - no way Tre goves up a package like that for a rental.</div></div>
I don't think these trades are comparable. It was done in the offseason and CGY sent an unprotected first, well knowing they might not make the playoffs. In the trade I proposed there's only one second, and the picks will be in the 25-31 range of each round, not 12.

You have one of the best records in the league and very possibly you will get far in the playoffs. Whether it is Zucc or not, you should prepare yourselves for the deadline trade that will see a veteran rental join your team in exchange for valuable futures. Seeing what deadline deals for players of Zucc's calibre fetch, I don't think the return is unrealistic at all.

That's 20 games. A quarter of the season. He spent more time on the 4th line. And lest we forget, 28 points in the NHL as a 19y/o is perfectly decent production. (And his underlying stats are very good).

You're right. What I meant to say is: he hasn't been put in a situation where he could succeed. Given that he has all the right tools and he's 20; the prospect of him becoming a 70+ point player is still realistic. I think that a chance at such a player (whatever it may be; 30%? 50%?) + his value if he doesn't reach his ceiling; is more valuable (to NYR) than a bona fide top 6 winger who is already 27 and only has one more year under team control.
