need centers
Speaking of needing centers, the Wild also need a center who can play top 6 minutes. They also need cap space, so retaining isn't something they're going to do.
You'd need to offer a package that blows them away to get them to trade Hartman away, this isn't it.

Arizona Coyotes signed Logan Cooley (3 Years / $4,450,000 AAV)
Cooley is going from 12,000 person arena and A+ facilities in Minnesota…to 4,500 person arena and C+ facilities in Arizona.

Yes, the Wild are giving up way too much value here. Like it or not, Hartman is their #1 center this coming season. If the Wild are out of it come the TDL, then Ottawa can think about trading for him/Foligno.

Wild-Leafs pt 2
Addison has no arb rights, and he plays like he's made out of paper machete in his own zone. He will get around 1M AAV, maybe a bit less. Gus Bus will get 3.2-3.4M AAV.

Calen is not getting 2M, probably more like half of that maybe a little more. Gus is getting 3.4-3.5M. Duhaime will be at 1.1M or so.

if the wild do nothing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Upper_Body_Injury</b></div><div>I'm not 100% sure but I think Shaw is going to get a new contract but I thought I heard it will be like a ATO and will be placed in AHL for awhile to get physically ready and get some games before actually signing a new contract. So I would think the cap space would be alittle higher maybe enough to bring up another ELC player. And hopefully by the time Shaw is ready we will have accrued more cap space or it could be around the TDL and someone could be gone by then freeing up more space.</div></div>
I do have Shaw signed here and put him on the Taxi squad, so he's not impacting the cap .
It's just to depict exactly what you mentioned, but with what's shown here, his 775k is not being counted.

lets see if any of these come true by end of week
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Upper_Body_Injury</b></div><div>I think this is pretty much what could end up happening. Personally I am not sold on Revo coming back but it could be an option at the term and AAV listed.
Nothing against Clifton and I really am not a huge fan of Merrill but I would keep Merrill and not sign Clifton just based on Merrill's size. If the Wild are going to trade Addison then there is no point in signing a similar sized Dman in Clifton. I would like to see some size on the back end, now easier said then done with the limited cap space so we will see in the coming days and weeks.
Overall term and AAV is probably what happens with Gus and Shaw. I would say if the Wild could get something for Steel then try and do it but I doubt any team will trade for his rights seeing as the Wild don't plan on offering a QO.</div></div>
Agree on Reavo - I don't particularly want him back, so that's kind of just a placeholder but could definitely see it happening.
Regarding Clifton, have you watched him play very much? He's not big but he's a complete thumper. He hits like a Mack truck and is WAY more physical than Merrill. He's sort of a cheaper version of Dumba, that's the idea behind the signing - backfill for physicality. Merrill is taller, but he's nowhere near Clifton in terms of grit/sandpaper/heaviness in play.
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it based on size stats, unless it's truly just height/length you care about.

Dont think MIN can afford to take on so much cap, they probably value Hartman alot for playing top 6 minutes while making 1.7mill too

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>TBH, very little. I could easily move him in a separate deal if needed. My main point here was not wanting to retain salary to move him…which is why I included him.</div></div>
I'm not sure what their prospect pool looks like, but Arizona might be a good team to send Addison to for a 2nd. They have a bunch of picks in the coming years, so they'd be more willing to part with one to get a young NHLer.

Dynasty in 2 years pt 1
I'd pass on the MN trade, but it's not a bad thought. I can appreciate the thinking there.
I honestly just don't trust our FO with 2nd rounders. Brackett hasn't really blown my socks off with his 2nd round selections thus far (especially when you look at who was still on board), so I'd rather they keep the 1st and try to deal Foligno at the TDL with retention.
Mitts I think is a good fit in MN, so i'd be open to trying to make a deal that doesn't involve the 1st. If that's not possible, then so be it.

Dubois Is the GAMBLE worth it
1. If they decide to trade him, the Jets will definitely prefer not to trade PLD to their biggest rival. 2. Despite their age Guerin will not trade two team leaders, as well as two top prospects, and a 1st for a guy who has already asked off of two teams. PLD is the exact opposite type of character BG wants on the Wild. 3. Gus gets more like 3.5M AAV.

So clearly, San Jose is ahead of the Wild even though the Wild had 100 points the past 2 seasons and the Sharks have gotten rid of most of their players. This move puts the Wild in the lottery for the next 3 seasons. It's a ridiculous trade for both clubs.

Could it work
Definitely will have a little more breathing room in 24-25, but no way Guerin rosters 8 ELCs to regular roles.
I'm all for the youth movement myself, but in all reality, you'll easily have a few million less than what's mocked here. Like it or not, we're gonna see things like extensions to some of [Zucc, Reaves, Foligno, Hartman]. Then you'll get a few plug-a-hole types like the Steel, Bonino or Kulkov's of the league.
No reason the ELCs can't earn the jobs, but Guerin will def sign a handful of insurance veterans just in case.

No from Minnesota for multiple reasons. Besides the fact that the Wild can't afford to re-sign Caufield, I also doubt Guerin wants to add yet another under-sized player onto a team that already has Spurgeon, Addison, and Zuccarello. Also, the return is laughably lopsided towards Montreal. No way is Minnesota giving up their top prospect in Wallstedt, AND Brock Faber, AND the 23' 1st.
