It's not even a 5th, they're giving up a 6th. They would burning their last slot to move up 1 round

When you have players you like and don’t really want to move, then you demand a lot and see if someone bites, otherwise no harm no foul.</div></div>
I think it's unlikely that anyone pays a 1st, and I think the Sharks are shooting themselves in the foot if they are waiting for better offers that won't come.

I like Ferarro as much as any other Sharks fan, but I don't think he is worth a 1st+. If the 1st is a sticking point in a Ferarro trade, I don't see it happening considering how much Tanev got. And yes, I do understand that Ferarro is significantly younger with a multi-year deal.

I don't see the Sharks giving you the 33/34th pick for Liljegren. Maybe the NJ 2nd.

TDL 24 and Roster a few years out
You've made one of the classic AGM blunders, you're assuming every single prospect will pan out. Aside from Smith and (almost certainly) whoever the Sharks draft in the top 5 this year, none of these guys are guaranteed to become NHL regulars.

Next Year - Huge off season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letsgosharks</b></div><div>I agree but I don’t see why though, realistically what else can they achieve at that level?</div></div>
It's less about what they can achieve, and more about what is good for their development (and to a lesser extent not burning years on the first ELC). Eklund has done quite well on a bad team, but generally speaking playing on an uncompetitive team is not good for your development. They are also both quite young and could use some extra time to physically develop/pack on some muscle.

Even if the Sharks do end up with 1OA, it's unlikely Celebrini would leave school yet. Same with Smith.

Gotta be honest, totally forgot it was only $4m. A 3rd might be enough then, especially if they move a bunch of guys at the deadline.

Vlasic is having a phenomenal first full season in the NHL at 22 years old and you think the Hawks would consider trading him for a suitcase currently with his seventh team and two goods seasons (out of ten) on his resume?
I need to stay off capfriendly today, clueless is out in full force.</div></div>
All jokes aside, if he was available what kind of package would he get in return? He is having a good season as a 22yo, but isn't really projected to be a top-pairing guy.

Buffalo, Chicago, and Calgary all say no. Sharks never do that Edmonton deal, what even is that?
That said, we are going to need a replacement Vlasic when Pickles retires/gets bought out.

What would be the return for
From the Sharks, assuming no retention:
Ferarro seems to be trending towards a late 1st or a 2nd + something else.
Granlund probably a 2nd, Kahkonnen probably also a 2nd, maybe a 3rd would get it done.
