Playoffs
Marino, Kapanen, Poulin, 1st for Miller
Blatant first reaction: LOL
Pens counter: Marino, 3rd for Miller
Vancouver fans REALLY need to stop with the "please give us Marino" trades.
Also, as a side, $4Mx5 for Kapanen is way off. He will get 1 or 2 years around $2.5M per to get his play back up.

Don't want Boeser, There are literally a dozen better UFA forwards to pick from (FOR FREE), and a dozen better RFA forwards to pick from given this trade suggestion.

I posted yesterday how some Vancouver AGMs were trading Myers (-2M) for a 3rd, and Myers for a 4th, etc. It's time for the few (busy) Vancouver AGMers that massively over value their players to catch up with the rest of us and stop trying to trade $10 in value for $15.
You've (royal you) have been posting grossly Vancouver-sided trades for so long you are believing it is true.

Thread:
Washington Capitals signed Brett Leason (2 Years / $775,000 AAV)
Potential 3rd liner. At league minimum it is low risk to find out. If he drops the ball waive him. If he really drops the ball let him walk when this runs out.

Washington Capitals signed Beck Malenstyn (2 Years / $762,500 AAV)
I can't say that this is good or bad. Malenstyn's ceiling is a 12/13 guy. His 2nd year being full salary even in the AHL is a bit much though. Probably more of a "no" signing but not enough for me t click the "no" option.

I agree that there is no reason to trade him. There are a few other "common" trades that have no reason to happen. One of the most that I see (because Vancouver AGMers have zero imagination and just keep regurgitating the same trash over and over) is Miller.

Greenway, Addison, 3rf for Marino, 5th "This trade happens if MIN needs cap space and moves Dumba"
This adds $1.4M to the Wild's cap. ADDS. ?
2nd for Pettersson, Kapanen
Pittsburgh would get a 2nd out of Detroit for Pettersson alone.
Quality over quantity ... just going to set that there, what you do with it is up to you.

Next Step in the Rebuild
Kapanen for Erne, 3rd
Pittsburgh doesn't want Erne's $2.1M cap hit.
However, continuing with this trade, Kapanen at $4.75Mx4 is insane. He will most likely end up signing a 1-2 year $2.5M-ish deal to get his numbers back up.

Another Marino Trade Idea to VAN
Garland, Schenn, 3rd for Marino, Heinen, Legare, 4th
The Pens already have a few Schenn's. He is basically in the same group as Ruhwedel, Friedman, Riikola. For argument sake though, using your trade, one could say Schenn, 3rd for Heinen, 4th. That leaves Garland for Marino, Legare. Marino is a bit more than Garland so it wouldn't be Pittsburgh adding. Marino for Garland, 3rd
Value counter:
Schenn, 3rd for Heinen, 4th
+
Garland, 3rd for Marino
=
Garland, Schenn, 3rd, 3rd for Marino, Heinen, 4th

Curious About this Trade Down Caps Fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>The object isn't "to help Montreal with their cap problems," it's to find a semi-replacement for Nicklas Backstrom, perhaps permanently. That won't be cheap, and thus I think that your counter-offer is unrealistic. I may undervalue Dvorak, at least in part because I believed from the outset that Montreal had overpaid for him, but in my opinion you aren't valuing him properly at all.</div></div>
Dvorak isn't in the ballpark of Backstrom. Not even the same sport. Dvorak would be a potential replacement for Eller.
Flipping form the #20 to #51 might be a bot much, but it is much closer than #20.

#20 for Kane (-$4M)
The Caps are willing to keep talking, but this isn't it. Kane (today, it's not 2018 as a reminder to some commenters) at $6.5M cap hit is not worth #20. However, close enough that talks can continue.
