Ovechkin, Hall, Coleman, and maybe Larsson? A UFA is worth whatever the highest bidder thinks they are worth.

This will be a rude awakening to all those Buffalo fans that were insistent on Hall returning a 1st and a good prospect.
That is a good trade for Boston

there are bigger problems here, but . . . . Chicago's already retaining salary on two contracts. They can only retain on one more.

Lou gets his guys. It’s a more than fair trade in a normal year, although I have a feeling this might be the only 1st traded this deadline (at least for a rental).

Minor moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>Lagesson's an NHL-ready top six defender with his only real drawback being Edmonton having two defencemen better than him that they currently aren't playing. He's an excellent bottom-of-the-roster player for the Kings to pick up, and acquiring Turris at the sake of an AHL defenceman is a win no matter which way you slice it. The Kings have more than enough cash to take him on and they don't give up much of anything.
The odds of that 4th round pick playing as many games as Lagesson and Turris would for the Kings is low. Really low. It's a fine deal for a rebuilding team that's still in need of NHL bodies for the rest of this season and for next.</div></div>
I can't see Edmonton moving Lagesson for nothing. They need 8-9 D-men if they are going to the playoffs and there is no way they play Bear and Bouchard like that otherwise they would be doing it already.
Especially considering klefbom's status is still unknown, Samorukov is injured for half of next season, Broberg isnt ready yet, and they will likely lose a LD in the expansion draft they need to keep every last dman they have.

That DET offer is one of the most absurd trades I've seen on here.
And that doesn't even get you close to Eichel. If Fox or Miller aren't involved then it's a waste of time.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wilbur</b></div><div>I totally disagree, he doesn't warrant $3 million/year yet. I see 2 x $1.8 million or so, but no more than $2.2 million x 2.</div></div>
This lines up with what I was thinking. Bear got $2M x 2 so that's probably the ceiling for Yamamoto, unless he blows the doors off in the last 20 games. The AAV should go up on a 3-year deal though, so maybe $2.5 - 2.75M is the right range on a 3-year?
Edit: Kase got 3.27% of cap on his 3-year bridge, which would be $2.66M in today's dollars. Sound about right?

Mtl - Edmonton
Makes little sense for either side. Neal and Klefbom aren't doing anything for the Habs this year and the overlap between what Caufield and Lavoie do well (on top of the surge in Montreal's RW this season) doesn't make him much of a target for Montreal beyond the stigma of sending French players to Montreal.
Weber's a huge risk for the Oilers, given his age and retirement recapture. Artturi is essentially Kahun; there's no real upgrade here for the Oilers beyond Weber. I wouldn't take it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wilbur</b></div><div>Cap dump? Kassian is finally playing well on the 3rd line no less and has lots of tread left.
He adds speed and size which most GMs covet. He would easily be the 2nd best RW on the roster.
Buffalo was stupid to let Kahun walk. Edmonton is playing him too high up in the line up, he is a very good 3 LW as evidenced by his track record.
I doubt Buffalo will get a better return, plus Hall has a NTC and will have a say in where he goes.</div></div>
Yeah, it said Buffalo would be extremely lucky to get a first. They're not going to be able to bring a haul of picks or good players. They'd be lucky to get this.

Trade Deadline
Oil picked up Stalock as 3rd string on waivers, they won't be wasting picks on another average goalie. Since Smith has come back from injury both goalies have been very fine in Edmonton. The team needs a longterm solution, but that will probably happen in the offseason, and for sure is not Hutton.

Very pleased to see Kesselring and the Oilers put pen to paper. It's a year earlier than I expected: Kesselring made all indication that he'd sign after his junior year, not his sophomore year.
Damn the Oilers organization for not actually releasing the contract details every time they sign someone though. No way this contract is a max ELC.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wilbur</b></div><div>So I think I was pretty close, I am honestly not trying to rub it in or anything, I am just interested what you think of the return for AA. Thanks in advance (GR is loaded, so your team will be pretty good very soon).</div></div>
I think we were both close, I said 2nd and either Rodrigue or samorukov who were both 2nd round picks, so essentially we got 2 2nds and I asked for a prospect who was a second and another second. I see how you were also close on your side, let's just say we were both close for arguments sake.
As for the return yzerman set that price and Edmonton met it, after the deadline yzerman Essentially said that AA is a prima Donna and doesn't listen to people in the locker room to help him grow his game, he also said it would be really hard to sign him in the off-season, if all of that is true then I'm surprised we got what we got for him at all.
I'm ok with it, if you look at yzerman 2nd round picks, he generally crushes it, so give him as many draft picks as you can at this point, I rather have had one of the prospects with a 2nd but I'm ok with trusting him with a full rebuild. Hope this helps with your question.
