Tristan Jarry
This is getting silly. Georgie won the most games in the season for a reason. It’s true the team hasn’t been playing as dominantly as it was earlier in the season but we are still in the playoffs. We aren’t going to make knee jerk reactions based on 5-10 below average games. The team needs to get a lobotomy to remove the brain farts. Especially if they can’t get it together for the playoffs but they aren’t going to scrap the plan.
There is no way Jarry is worth a starting goalie and a first round pick plus a prospect. I think Georgie is likely the better goalie anyway.
Manson is worth more. Don’t know about Wood’s value but Sakic is a respected President because he treats his people with respect. I doubt that wood is traded one year into that contract. Unless he asks to be traded.

Offseason 1 2024
You'd need to retain more for the Avs to have an interest there I reckon and that's unlikely to happen for that length of time. Also, what makes you think he'd fair better behind Colorado's D? They don't actually have one if the last few weeks have been anything to go by!!!

God damn that Colorado trade is so one-sided.
You've lost the plot if you think someone's contract situation drains that much value.
Completely unrealistic, my man. That's a ludicrous deal.

There is nothing you could reasonably add to make Colorado trade Toews. They moved Byram already. They're not gonna move Toews too.
Now of course you could offer up like L Hughes or Nemec, but I wouldn't even suggest it. It's why I used the word reasonably above.

Rantanen, Ovy, Barkov, even Drai, are stars that shouldn’t be in this ACGM

This is awful.
Nylander, Draisaitl, Rantanen, and Barkov are probably more underrated than they are overrated. All are superstars overshadowed by players on their own team

One could make the case with....Schenn, Stone, Ovechkin, Brodie, Karlsson, Carlson, Gibson, Jarry
Barkov and Rantanen are probably underrated.
Rest are probably rated appropriately.

i'm not really a huge colton fan, but that's mostly because of his attitude and such. his on-ice performance is generally good and not worth moving him.
and if we needed the cap space, I imagine someone like girard or mansion is going before he is</div></div>
You're going to have to explain the "attitude" thing because I've never, ever heard anything negative about Colton in that respect. While you're at it, specify what "and such" means.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>COL isn’t doing that. Colton doesn’t have attitude issues I don’t know where that is coming from, he’s younger been more productive this year, plays a style more like what COL wants from a 3C and to lose all that for less than $2M in cap space is a pretty easy no. The reason you see all the Colton trade stuff is because COL assuming Landeskog comes back next year (still not a guarantee) could use some cap space and Mittlestadt needs a contract.</div></div>
Gotcha. Thanks for the insight.

i won't deny for a second that laughton is less valuable than colton, just a matter of how much to add and how much the retention adds to laughton. but i do think that it is something that has value for both teams to do

drop from colton to laughton is definitely more than the value of the retention, but i don't think it's that much tbh. prob a 3rd/5th swap gets it done?

Have to remember it was Colton's RFA rights for that 37th pick as a guy who'd played primarily wing, not a signed Colton after (what looks likely to be) a career year whilst playing C and also have to factor in his being 2 years younger than Laughton. The Avs probably have to consider it though if it comes with a sweetener.

I also thought of RyJo but concluded it might be an overreaction to rule out other players because of him. I could easily see the 4th line working. Dowd can help in the dzone and outlets go to one of the wings to spur transition.

survive the squeeze
I do like the creativity here though I'd agree with the above two posts. I don't think the Devils trade Holtz in a Girard trade and Evans isn't really a 3C. More a 4C who might be able to play up a bit.
In addition, Olofsson is probably going to Europe next year unless it's a one-way deal. Kovalenko will be in over Olausson. Parise & Cogs are likely done imo. I'd also give Malinski the 3RHD spot over signing Shattenkirk.

Rather than doing all of that to get Evans, a guy that isn't a 3C, I'd try to find someone who needs to bounce back, like Wennberg or Roslovic.

Colton for Dowd
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>I mean if Landy is fully Landy that’s one situation I could see (maybe the only one) where Ritchie plays 3C. I don’t know that Dowd is the right guy stylistically, check his NHL edge stats below 50th percentile in top speed and speed burst, and he is in the 96% for his shooting % (is that driving his numbers and is it sustainable?) especially between 2 speed merchants like Wood and LOC. Colton does look like the guy they could move for salary cap reasons.</div></div>
I remember when the Dowd to COL thing started up initially and decided to read up on him a bit more and he mentioned himself in one interview that he wasn't the fastest guy but that he was playing between two fast guys. I don't think that's too much of an issue if he's used correctly (to his strengths - as a defensive 4C). Just as long as it doesn't end up being RyJo Mk II.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>Yeah I agree wholeheartedly, his overall game has definitely improved, but I think it’s legit to ask can he produce away from MacK because MacK can make a lot of guys look good. agreed. Ideally he takes 3x5 or something to stay around here for the winning window and have peace of mind that he isn't going anywhere for the next while. If we could lock up a first line player for 3 mil that would go a long way.

I'm not too concerned about his shooting percentage, as it's his defensive ability that makes him an asset. I can't say I'm not hesitant about the lack of speed, but I tend to think it would still work. If not, he can be flipped pretty easily.
All else equal, I'd rather have Colton. But if moving him allows the team to sign Drouin, I think you have to make that move.
Agree on the importance of having Landy with Ritchie. I think that every acgm I have made with Ritchie as 3C has that same set up, and it's intentional.
