Thoughts on the offseason Whats next
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ragsandbluesfan</b></div><div>Fitz has made some really savvy moves</div></div>
Hopefully some more can be made also!!! I really wouldn't put a Marc-Andre Fleury deal past us. If Vegas really lands Petro, if we take full salary back, we can get at the very least a first and a second for taking on his full salary. Then we can def get even more trading him to a team at half retained. We would only spend $3,500,000 retaining him and we have space still after that. It also would make sense because we got big money coming off right around when some of our young guys need contracts within the next 2 years (Crawford 3.9, Subban 9, Zajac 5.75) that being about 18.5 coming off before a Jack Hughes extension comes into play. I didn't account for Murray, Palmieri, and Gusev because I am optimistic those guys are gonna be coming back granted if they play well next season and stay healthy.
But yea, love what he's done so far!!!

Thoughts on the offseason Whats next
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>I think Fitzgerald is doing a very good job in his first FA. He's been able to get some good players for cheap in Murray, Johnsson, and Crawford. None are star players of course, but they should all be good complimentary players on this team.
I do think that there is one big issue with this team however -- size in the top 6. The top 6 as it stands is extremely small - the tallest player in the top 6 is Hischier, and he's only 6'0", everyone else is below that. Also, no top 6er is over 200lbs. This team desperately needs to add some size.</div></div>
Yea I agree, no stars, but good complements which are very important to every team so I am happy, hopefully we can grow some of our players into stars like Nico, Jack, and Holtz upfront. Defensively, none of our guys scream star in the making but you never know, maybe Smith surprises us and becomes more of a top 2 defender instead of a top 4. I'd still be very happy with him being top 4 and think he will be for sure. As for size, we are a bit small, 100% agree with you. Hopefully Bahl can make an impact at the NHL level whenever he is ready so that's a start at least for some size. I think as our young players get better and we come out of this rebuild, some bigger guys could be added for sure through like free agency or trades. If size is the biggest thing we are missing when compared to missing talent or youth (which we aren't), I am super encouraged by how this team is constructed!!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DevilsFanInTX</b></div><div>I know Bratt is still unsigned and is a big part of present gaps on the wing - do you see adding Dadanov as a legitimate option or one that potentially affects the development minutes for some of our other guys?
Spot on about continuing to weaponize our cap. I think we’ve made a great addition to the top-4 (Murray) and a 20-goal caliber top-6 wing.</div></div>
Personally, IDK about Dadonov. He is a good player, but I just think fitz wants to build this team through trades and not make any signings that are too drastic. As much as I love Dadonov as a player and think that he is good, I think we're gonna turn back to Jesper Bratt again next season.

Not a ton of cap space, but Gudas and Zajac's deal come off, and IDK what happens with Goose. Then the year after, Subban and Cory are up. Then with smiths development, butcher might be expendable. So we still have room which is what we need.

If you're going to scratch Gusev, then trade him. I would work him into the Vancouver deal somehow.</div></div>
Its more a deal for him to come in and help the young defenders like Walsh and Smith because he is a good veteran it was like the Wayne Simmonds deal and it is only for 1 year so its just to have a veteran presence to get him to come here we would have to over pay.

Fitzy Is Go
We would pass from that Anaheim trade, we gain nothing from it, we would just be taking 3 steps backwards giving up 3 regulars in the lineup for a very bad defender and a player who will not play. PASS.
And with regards to Edmundson that price is a bit steep and one NJ likely does not want to pay and I think its too much for any team.

Boeser trade could be ugly
The point of me doing this wasn't to show we should trade for Boeser, but rather that we shouldn't because it would kill our team, as badly as we need a scoring winger of his caliber, we can likely find that at 7th overall and not completly ruin our defense, I made this signings to show how ugly our defense could possibly look after this plus we also lose Joey Anderson who I think is a really good fit and I am a big fan of him.

I believe Walsh does get signed.
Palmieri gets a 6 year extension around 6 mil a season give to take a little
I think they wait for Gusev extension
I believe bridge deals is likely for Bratt an d Blackwood but wouldn't be surprised if a long term contract is given to one of the two either.

DAMN. Thats a big reach for one of them imo I'm not very high on Sanderson at all. I still like the deal though.

Moving up with the Isles pick
I also like this idea for the devils. Drop down a few slots to pick up a second round pick which we do not have, and we get a 23 year old player who has put up good numbers in the AHL. Obviously that doesn't always translate to NHL numbers but it's a risk I see the devils willing to take to drop down 5 spots. I especially like this because I do not want us to take Jake Sanderson I just don't like his hockey sense he is a little slow in my opinion, and I see Ottawa moving up to take Askorav.
Well done!! Im a devs fan and I see this as an offer that is hard to pass up on

7th OA
Aight there's a lot here and I want to respond to everyone but this just makes my life easier.
Holtz is a deadly scorer who can help make Hughes an even better player by having a reliable consistent finisher. I agree Perfetti is better but I see Detroit taking him to be completely honest. Hot take maybe but I see them making a bold move. Raymond is great too, just a little under sized but defiantly more well rounded, Holtz is more of a defensive liability but will be a lock on first line power play and to play with Hughes. Defense is an issue and if one of our conditional picks or both fall to next year and we have more than 1 next year, I see Fitzgerald looking to acquire a top 4 guy who is ideally 25 and under and reliable in his own end, who that would be I am not sure but I defiantly see us moving a first if we do not get all 3 this year, if we do get all 3 this year than we are most likely keeping it, still its hard to tell. And I also see us making a play for a physical defensive minded 3rd pair guy to play with Smith to develop him and help him like a Justin Braun or a Radko Gudas.

I'd be more hesitant to give up Zacha, he is an elite penalty killer and he is a hard worker I am a fan of his, you would prob have to put in a 2nd imo.
