Blackhawks Off-Season Part 1
so much going on here...most of the deals dont work
Isles decline...they dont need another RD especially at that cap hit for a player like murphy

wildcard spot
Nelson is worth way more than a 6/7 D, bottom six center, and 2 second round picks...not to mention that Isles are in win now mode and it makes no sense to trade their best Center from last season for spare parts and a couple of picks.

No way Lou trades for Bertuzzi considering he wouldn't let Wilde play in the Isles org.

With Wright another or trade the pick
If they Isles were entering a rebuild...maybe but still probably no. Individually, those three assets could all net a 1st rd pick (minimum) with Dobson returning a lot more than just a 1st.

Broberg isnt listed in the top 50 prospects by TSN or SportsNet. - that was the standard I was using. I understand he is highly ranked within EDM's prospect pool and would immediately hop towards the top of the Isles prospect pool. Either way, Broberg and a 3rd pick dont help the Isles in the near term and Mayfield alone can return a 1st rd pick + (e.g., Broberg +) and Beau is an enigmatic former 1st round pick so giving him up for a former 1st round and a 3rd rounder would be palatable if the Isles were in rebuild mode

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Koskinen_The_Great</b></div><div>Lou is a wild card, he's all IN with Barzal after firing Trotz. He's gunning for a wingman like Gaudreau/Forsberg. They have to move money, Beau hasnt worked despite the great fancy stats much like Puljujarvi has been a dud with finishing but you'd think he was elite when you look at his metrics. Oilers fans know they are selling at a loss with Puljujarvi, you Isles fans continually overrate Beau because of fancy stats, he's not getting a better return than this. Maybe adding a cheap bottom pair D is too much but this is certainly close in value for a team desperately looking to alleviate cap to go hunting in free agency. Oilers cant attract these free agents like NY, this trade suits their window. Win-Win</div></div>
Beau is worth more than a low ranked prospect and third round pick. Beau might be traded for cap space, but the return would be greater.
Mayfield is worth more than a low ranked prospect and third round pick. Trading Mayfield creates a big hole at RD and it would cost more than 1.5mm to fill so any space gained from trading away Beau would be eaten by a replacement RD.

Easy no from the Isles. JT doesnt fit in the lineup (even with the other deals that have been made). And Varly can bring back a 2nd round pick on his own (maybe a 1st).

Dobson would not make sense to be included. If CHI trades DeB, why would they want another RFA player that is going to need a large contract soon.

Exactly. a 1st rd pick would be nice, but it doesnt help them rn (unless they then flip the pick for a winger). Isles would be looking for a cheaper (and better) backup/1B

Easy decline from Isles. Kerfoot is a center and the Isles are locked at Center. Varly can bring back maybe a 1st on his own, def a 2nd + and Abramov is not a highly ranked prospect. Also, the Isles would need to find a new 1B/backup.
No idea about Wilde though and what kind of value he has around the league

Easy decline for the Isles. They are in win now mode and removing a low priced RD on an expiring contract does not help them. Beau can bring back value on his own. Broberg isn't even a top 50 ranked prospect at this point.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensman69</b></div><div>Would a third change your mind?</div></div>
Unlikely. Isles will likely need cap space for this offseason and would only be getting one year from him. A 4th rounder if its closer to the start of the season and the Isles fail to net a bonafide top 4 D...then maybe. I just dont see a trade for Dum happening

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles5513</b></div><div>Isles fans think they r close to a cup. They r not.</div></div>
Isles made the semis two years in a row...either way though, most of the Isles roster is at/past their prime meaning they either rebuild or go for it. Holding is not an option. Plus, the Isles have one of the worst farm systems in the entire NHL, so may as well make it the worst and sell the farm to truly contend for the next couple of years and then deal with the future

What value would Bailey provide to those teams? If Bailey was on an expiring contract then he might bring in a pick at the deadline for one of those teams, but otherwise those teams are not trying to be competitive. If I were one of those teams, I would not trade for Bailey.

Bailey is not worth his contract...so even though he still has value as a player, not many teams can absorb a 5mm cap hit for the next two years. That is why you have to pay to have someone take him. If he only cost 3mm/year, then he would bring back value (for example)

Raty has never played in the NHL - cant just assume that he is going to be NHL-ready. Banking on that is a recipe for disaster. Also, he is a center and most effective as a playmaker from what I have seen in his brief AHL career and the scouting reports

Isles decline - isles are going for it this year and will only trade mayfield if they are out of it at the deadline. He is too valuable as a very low cap hit RD. This trade would create another hole in defense for the islanders and the cost to replace would be too high. Isles would have to be blown away and receive cap help
