What is the best Monahan trade for Habs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YesThisIsFlo</b></div><div>The Monahan for a 1st dream is so funny to me, I'd be shocked if he gets that return.
Obviously he has a massive track record of injuries, so what playoff team is going to rely on him to be available through a playoff grind?
He also has half his points on the powerplay, where he wouldn't get a sniff on other teams.
A team acquiring him would be getting him as an injury-prone bottom 6 center with limited penalty kill experience (only ever PKd in MTL). I don't see teams giving up a 1st for that/</div></div>
The numbers look pretty but nobody else is giving sean monahan 4.5 minutes of PP time a game

I think any of those teams would be excellent to target. A 2025 pick might actually end up being the best result I’d want that from Pittsburgh, Washington or Islanders as I think they’ll continue on the decline. He is absolutely worth a first round pick, saying anything to the contrary is laughable. Just look at what goes for a 1st at the deadline. There’s absolutely no way he goes for less than that.</div></div>

Cmon man. One 5on5 goal in 15 games doesn’t do it for ya?

Kuzmenko for
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Reason</b></div><div>Bear certainly isn't, he's probably a #5 on a good blueline, fringe top 4. Zub is probably a number 3, but is totally capable to playing on the top pair without looking out of place and would be a great compliment to a more offensive minded partner. If the team had the following blueline I think it would put them in a position where they could win a few rounds in the playoffs (still not a contender):
Hughes - Zub
Cole - Hronek
Soucy - Bear
With Hronek getting a large raise in the offseason, adding a cap controlled player like Zub makes the blueline cost more palatable for what's going to continue to be a cap crunched team.</div></div>
Zub is not a top-pairing defenseman, perhaps he can make it work in short bursts, but he's been eaten alive analytically even in just a Top-4 role. Add in the fact that at 28 he's only played one full NHL season, he's decidedly not worth Kuzmenko 1 for 1. If the Senators are wanting Top-6 support, I'd maybe move Garland + mid pick/prospect for him. But given Zub's injury history, I think there's better options on the market.
Besides that, Bear played excellently with Hughes last season. It's cheaper for the Canucks to move out cap space to re-sign Bear than to lose Kuzmenko.

Am I missing something? Neither Bear nor Zub is a top-pairing defenseman.

Islanders make zero sense. Not paying a premium for another center who cannot stay healthy and doesnt fit what we need whatsoever.

Jack Hughes has more value than Matthews and Mackinnon based on age+contract imo

Swapping Outskirts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>CBJ are only trading one player if they can get rid of multiple. Our entire issue is a roster squeeze. This is one out for one in.</div></div>
I actually disagree here. The issue <em>is</em> a roster squeeze, but only because we have a bunch of bottom-6 forwards and bottom-pair D right now. We need upgrades, and Garland absolutely is that over players like Bemstrom, Foudy, Robinson, or Olivier. If Laine can stick at C, there's room in the middle-6, and I think he brings something valuable (where Peeke...doesn't). Garland at $3.45M isn't bad, getting rid of Peeke is addition by subtraction, and the 3rd doesn't amount to anything in all likelihood. I like it.

Swapping Outskirts
If the Nucks are interested in Benning, a 3rd/4th round pick in itself should be enough.
I know the Sharks have more than their fair share of pylons already so I don't think they'll be looking to add Myers even if he's meant to be filler for the cap. I do think Labanc should move on since Mike and Quinn are both clearly through with him (and have much shorter leashes with players than DW did), but I think that should be in a separate trade at a different time.

IF EP wants out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Well, the Canucks would get centre Beck and a RHD Reinbecker and more. Surely with the 12m in cap, the Canucks can attract UFA to replace Pettersson....yeah not as good.
Pettersson will be one year away from UFA.....seems like more than fair offer....although it could be tweeked.</div></div>
In my opinion this is arguably less than what Eichel got, and Pettersson is a better player than Eichel and isn’t in need of major neck surgery. So he should get a better return
Reinbacher = Krebs (Krebs was the 26th ranked prospect by the Athletic at the time of the Eichel trade, Reinbacher was ranked 20th this year)
1st = 1st
Harris = 2nd
Beck < Tuch
