Garland would be a very nice buy-low target. Not sure if it would be that low, and at this point I'd rather keep Voit to see what we have there. I like the fit though

So why should the Canucks trade him then? He has 4 years left on his contract. No reason to trade him now while his value is low

I would assume that if the price is low, then there's going to be zero retention.

Drance and Dhali sure like to share their opinions on how terrible everything about the Canucks is. Why would Vancouver trade him for a UFA and an OHL player?

I guess to make room for Horvat's extension

As ironically Garland this year has not been the greatest 5 on 5

Still probs would cost more but yeah not great.

In general Garland has regressed a bit 5 on 5

Hes actually the canucks worst 5 on 5 forward for offense

https://canucksarmy.com/news/conor-garland-somehow-gone-canucks-most-effective-5v5-player-least

So that may be one of the reasons why they just want out and if they make the excuse oh its to extend Horvat will people care much. Probs no

I agree. Leafs are ridiculously deep on the wings organizationally.

But for this to work for the Leafs, would need to retain another $1 million imo. Yes, it changes the package. How much so we can debate.

But we Leafs fans know all about Voit, and as my counterpart said, the fit is there, but for cap purposes sooner see what Voit becomes over a $4 million Garland.

Make that a $3 million Garland and if I were Dubas I maybe more willing.

You can't seriously expect Vancouver to trade Garland for next to nothing and give your 2 million retention for the next 4 years...

I didn't say I expect it for starters. I said for it to make sense for the Leafs......

Secondly I said it would change the package. That is a direct quote. Second quote "how much so we can debate".

A great prospect and a good player they can either keep or flip for other assets? How is this confusing

I don't see a good player or a great prospect here.

'Ideally what the Canucks are looking for in these types of trades is additional cap flexibility for this summer. So the returns might look unbalanced in the extreme, particularly if the return includes an expiring contract.'

If their primary concern is cap flexibility, probably to re-sign Horvat, can't imagine they'd be willing to retain salary as part of the deal.

puck you. Kerfoot is average at best, Voit is still playing in the OHL and hasn't proven to be a great prospect.

Or the fact that rumours often don't amount to anything. Anybody can speculate whatever they want. Doesn't mean that it will actually happen. Also, I'm not sure if you are up to date but we have had a change in management....

And them signing JT Miller rather than trading him for a dragon haul was the litmus test for their competence. They failed

I never liked the signing but they likely didn't get offers that they liked for him. Still, doesn't mean that rumours amount to anything. Rumours will come and go. Unless the trade actually happens, I couldn't care less who has their name in trade rumours

Those same insiders have been rumouring Boeser out of Vancouver for several years. I'm still waiting for that fateful day to happen
