giving up the 23/24 first rounders can hurt a lot to, I mean not saying it'll happen but there is a possibility the leaf's miss the playoffs in the next two years

i have to admit i feel sorta bad for Strome, he was great in the OHL and didn't have much of a chance to develop better for the NHL

oh absolutely, i shake my head sometimes during free agency seeing older players getting these massive contracts and then flop after basically 3-4 years lol

i think trading for Bertuzzi would hurt a team if they have to play a Canadian team in the playoffs unless the rules have changed and hes allowed back over now without being vaxed

he's not asking for only 7 Mil on his next contract he wants more then that so he's not only taking 1.5 less he'd be taking a lot less

a million less isn't really a home town discount in my opinion, and I'm not saying I don't think he is worth the 11/12 Million a year but if you really wanted to win a championship with your home town team i would have taken somewhere between 8-10M a season that other 2-4M on other players but I cant obviously just blame him Mathews and Marner did the same thing to me what Morgan Reilly got was a home town discount i can almost Guarantee he would have gotten more on the open market

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>So did Tavares before he took less to play for the Leafs, not trying to be a jerk just saying that players often take less than they initially say to play for their hometown teams. That is why it is referred to as a hometown discount. This could just as easily happen with Letang or Kadri (although in Kadri's case it would just be a discount to play for his favorite team since he was born in London)</div></div>
how much do you really think Tavares would have gotten on the market... to me 11M isnt much of a home town discount

Id keep Knight for at least his ELC and see where Bob is in 2 years maybe Knight becomes starter and they explore options to trade Bob and have Guzda as back up permitting he is ready for that role Obviously Florida may have to retain some of bobs contract but could probably get a good hull for him

i cant see it, Florida would have a good 2 goalie punch in Bob and Knight and when bobs contract is up Knight would only be around 24 years old still young enough and with a few years of mentoring he'd be most likely better then bob
