Sabres
the sabres are a speed team. the penguins are a puck possession team. olofsson would be effective with crosby or malkin. i know that's easy to say, but their ability to operate in the zone and olofsson's shot would be a great compliment. he'd also be a PP asset for a team whose PP is stagnant.

maybe, but as a GM of a team with cap space and good prospects, he should be making calls on everyone.

Agreed. It would probably have to start with Mittelstadt and Savoie to get Andersson.

As a Sabres fan, I'm not ok with that deal. I don't want the defenseman you want to sell, I want the defenseman you don't want to sell. Vladar is not a significant upgrade over Comrie/UPL and if we're going to give up good assets like Mittelstadt, add enough assets so that they have to consider a Rasmus Andersson trade. If we get him, extend Power and Dahlin, then our top 4 is set for years and we are in serious business starting next season.

i'd rather overpay for severson or use assets to trade up for reinbacher. mittelstadt might be a 70 point winger if he stays in the top 6 somewhere and peterka is going to be a PPG winger soon. he's that good. marino would be great with power. i'd try to give them future assets for marino because if they're going to trade him, it should be with the aim of creating cap space to sign meier long term.

Break the streak
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>Why the hell is everyone throwing away Greenway? I realize he got hurt and missed a handful of games. We’re not talking about Raffi Torres, or even Steve Bernier, who scored only one goal after the trade deadline. I think he’s going to have a fit here and Adams isn’t giving him away just because you don’t like him.</div></div>
He’s was good post-injury. He did a good job keeping his game simple playing with Thompson and Cozens and it showed off his strengths. He chipped and chased more, won those battles in zone, and was a net front presence. He seemed to have let go of trying to do too much and score goals, much like Jost did. Going into next season, if he can be a good penalty killer and be part of a shutdown line in the bottom 6 who will occasionally play up the lineup when needed, the Sabres will be better for it.

Because, all GMs are retreads so when Chuck Fletcher gets hired somewhere you can trade him Ristolainen for a 1st, 2nd, and a cheaper defenseman who is just as good.

far fetched but logical. the okposo angle is interesting. i think he wants to get to 1000 games so your comparison to fisher is apt. i think he'd want to be the 13th forward and play less and maybe savoie is the 14th forward so he can stay up and learn and not waste a year in the WHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PhilsWeiner</b></div><div>UPL is barely an NHL goalie. If buffalo, by this point, has been unable to salvage him then I can't imagine he has any real value.
there's no reason to put any unnecessary pressure on Levi by giving him the starting position. I think with what he's shown, he could be a solid 1B option (until he continues to develop). but any more than that would possibly strain him. bringing a veteran like Varlamov in for 1-2 years could provide Levi with a solid mentor, before he's ready to take over as your starter.
I know buffalo fans have suffered in the goaltending department, and Levi is a light at the end of the tunnel, but there isn't a reason to throw him in the starting position just yet. let him ease into it.</div></div>
There is a reason to throw him in the starting position. He’s our best goalie and showed down the stretch that he could handle pressure games and is just getting started.

That’s giving UPL away. I think Levi’s emergence and hindsight only looking at the stats have unfairly soured people on UPL. He had a lot of good outings and gave a pretty poor defensive team a chance to win most nights he was out there. He was above .500 as a starter, and was expected to spend the year in Rochester. I’m encouraged by what I saw and he could be #2 behind Levi moving forward.

Leave Skinner-Mittelstadt-Tuch. Greenway-Thompson-Savoie could be interesting. Peterka-Krebs-Quinn and then Rousek-Jost-Hinostroza/Biro.

No. Mittelstadt was tearing it up. He started winning draws and board battles and it puts him in better spots to have his elite passing ability, and slightly above average shot, dump truck points. I think that line should stay together. Don’t trade him for more futures. As Stringer Bell said to Clay Davis, I’m ready to run.

The Current Lines Are Intriguing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>ashleyschaeffer excellent obsevation.
There was a 20 game stretch from October 25 to December that Casey was just deplorable.
Over those 20 games he had just 4 goals, 8 pts and was -16.
While the last 7 games have been remarkable scoring 2 goals, setting up an additional 9 with a +6 rating, removing those 20 games leaving 48 games with 8 goals, 45 pts and +6.
Those are first line stats in this league scoring nearly a pt/gm.
Jeff-Casey-Alex is certainly humming while the Tage-Dylan-Jordan line is doing just fine as well.
BTW over his last 2 games Casey has won 15 of his 28 FO and over his last 10 games he has 10 take aways while giving up the puck only 5 times, giving him 2.0 tk/gv ratio the best on the team.
Who would have thought that he would have more pts this year than his previous 3 years combined?
Do you think we can finally remove the <strong>BUST LABEL FROM HIS NAME?</strong>
It will be an interesting off season if Savoie and Kulich have a huge training camp.
Olofsson may have played his last game as a Sabre, but there may be many other changes as well.
I certainly hope Ryan Johnson signs with the Sabres.
EDIT: IMO Carolina may be a good final resting spot for Olofsson.
Poor PP and could use another scoring winger.</div></div>
He needed time. Going back to WJC, when he had a Tkachuk brother he was the MVP of the tournament. He can get the puck to finishers in good spots. And the strength in his hands has improved. He wins draws, creates turnovers, and wins puck battles way more than he ever has. Once the kids are ready and we go Thompson-Cozens-Mittelstadt-Krebs down the middle we’re in serious business.

Really poor power play. Olofsson can help that. I think they’ll get a trade partner somewhere with retained salary. And it’s a low 3rd. Relax.

True, but Granato plays all four lines. They’d still get good run and can be shielded a bit. Plus, I want Savoie and Kulich practicing together.
