Lets roll
Boston is going to tweak around their core … not dismantle it around it. Minnesota isn’t trading Eck and Sweeney likely isn’t making that offer because what’s the point? Make an offer the other team is going to reject.
I also think if we acquire the right free agent center that Poitras can develop into our number 2 center long term.
With regards to the Ullmark deal, i do not believe Sweeney covets # of picks. To be honest, I think he views late 2nd and 3rd rounders as flyers. He readily gave up a 3rd for Andrew Peeke for his physical skill set even though Columbus fans were ready to cut him,
He seems to go out of his way to reach for players with better physical skills and without the pedigree as if he believes that is an undervalued sector. It’s like he’s almost going out of his way to get a bad draft review because he realizes the hit rate on lower picks is ridiculously low and the draft past 15 is a complete crap shoot.
I see Mason Lohrei at Ohio State and go maybe he knew something we didn’t when draft gurus slammed him for selecting a 5th round grade in the second round. The kid looks like an easy top 4 defenseman even with the rawness.
I watch Chris Pelosi at Sioux Falls and believe Rand Pecknold is going to develop that kid into an all American in the next two years at Quinnipiac. I hated the pick until I watched him and went why am I trusting the draft judgment of an aggregator.
I get 2015 happened, but I also acknowledge that Sweeney took over weeks before that draft and had to depend on scouts he later replaced.

What changed?</div></div>
I imagine that came from a value perspective (in which it is more than fair).
But I have since looked at the UFA LD class which is underwhelming, and this view comes from a team needs perspective.
The value is still fair I just don’t see an easy way to find not 1 but 2 quality LD that we’d need if we traded Siegs

would love to see Siegenthaler here. I think he fills out the left side great, and fits age group.
HATE that Duchene signing though

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>beantownboy17</b></div><div>People are giving you a lot of crap, but I like this. IF the Bs are going to move Ullmark, the Devils make sense. I'm sure people will argue prospects all day, but a 1st, a B+/A- prospect or fringe NHLer, and a mid round pick is the best package the Bs could ask for.
I love going after McNabb, he and Carlo would be a great pairing, and I think capitalizing on VGK overpaying Hanafin is the way to go. There are literally 15 LD coming on the market in the 25 offseason, if 5 of them make it to FA, the Bruins can capitalize and get a long term add there.
Boqvist might demand a bit more, Swayman deal is perfect, love giving Heinen term over cap (definitely need him back), DeBrusk might test FA for that but he should take it if he wants to come back. Highly doubt Lindholm takes a 1 year deal though.</div></div>
Lindholm is meant to be a 7 year deal, I did one year by accident and fogot to fix it lol. And Boqvist definitely asks for more, but I'm hoping we can get him cheap for one more year as an RFA before needing to give him a bigger cap bump. If not, we can run a 22 man roster and give him like 1.5mil instead.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>beantownboy17</b></div><div>I agree it's not enough, bur also the Bruins won't get rid of all their key pieces for Drai. Not when there's at least a chance they could get him in free agency. But a straight up package of Poitras, Frederick, Carlo, and 2 firsts is where I'd draw the line. It is very rare for a star for star trade to work out, and it takes having big pieces left over. That's why it worked out so well for Florida in the Huberdeau trade</div></div>
For sure! I’m assuming to get maximum value, there would be an extension in place too. It’s a lot to give, but for a top center man, I would think about it if I was the bruins. If they had a guy like Draisaitl on that top line, they would be lethal! Your package isn’t bad though, especially if we are still trying to compete, with how well Frederic has been doing.

The primary difference between Jarry and Ullmark is Ullmark is very good. Jarry is probably the goalie I point to as league average. Neither a positive or a negative

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>Frederic is better than Foeggle and has term.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>beantownboy17</b></div><div>Frederic and Foegele are nearly identical in terms of production and p/gp for their career (Foegele has 0.027 more ppg which translates to 2 points a season). Only Foegele hasn't gotten better over the last 4 years and Frederic has. 1st is for potential. Would love to check back in 5 years and see how they both progress.</div></div>
That's an interesting take. Here are their 5v5 P/60 for the past 3 years:
Frederic
21-22: 1.66
22-23: 1.97 (+0.31)
23-24: 2.46 (+0.49)
Foegele
21-22: 1.38
22-23: 2.09 (+0.71)
23-24: 2.35 (+0.26)
So between this year and last Foegele has increased his point production by +0.97 P/60, or 70%. Frederic has increased his point production by +0.80 P/60, or 48%.
Past 2 years combined:
Foegele: <strong>2.21</strong> P/60 (<strong>78.57</strong> IPP)
Frederic: 2.20 P/60 (69.32 IPP)
So I stand by my original statement: Frederic is not an upgrade on Foegele.

I would never pay that many assets for a Goalie either. Better to just sign one via Free Agency, especially if it’ll be for Big Bucks in which case you just need to be the Highest Bidder and can keep your assets

All out for Swayman
No goalie is worth that much.
My view is this.
Mercer is expected to get 6 mill or so on an 8 year deal as a 1st time RFA (Team has more leverage)
Swayman is expected to get less than 7 mill on an 8 year RFA deal post arbitration (Player has more leverage)
Based on teams putting their money where their mouth is, the gap in value isn't that wide.
Would boston match an 8.4x5 offer sheet for example?
I'd offer 3 1sts for him or equivalent assets. Would be the highest price paid for a goalie of all time
