Swapped in Tarasenko, if he's healthy he'd be legit good and really drive the bus for this team.

Exactly. Depth out the ass, enough scoring to win games, a goalie with elite potential if he's healthy, a decent defense with some underrated pieces (demelo, Reilly). the Pacific is trash so this team has a real chance of 2nd in the division, even.

Saying Toronto's defense is lack luster is the most facebook boomer of cold takes. Honestly embarrassing that you think that's a sane comment to make.

Why would the Leafs give up a good young defenseman for a guy whose best days are behind him? Find a better trading partner lmao, Leafs aren't saving Tampa from cap trouble by giving up assets.

But does he have more or less trade value than Dermott or Kerfoot? That's the question. Given you gave up Holl for him, it seems he'd have more value.
Also, if you trade Holl, then you can protect Kerfoot + two other guys, so you don't need to give up SDA to make Dermott the pick over Kerfoot.

Coleman, Galchenyuk, Simmonds underpaid. Why trade for DeSmith before the draft so there's two goalies to worry about protecting?

They're not gonna spend the next few deadlines looking for 2 top 4 defenceman. That's not how you win cups.</div></div>
So what is your plan for losing 10M in cap? Because trading from the below list, given the protections they have, is going to cost a lot of other assets, and will overall cost more than just giving up McDonagh
Palat: 5.3M until 2023, 20 team trade list
Gourde: 5.167M until 2025, full NTC until 2022
Johnson: 5M until 2024, 20 team trade list
Killorn: 4.45M until 2023, 16 team no trade list
In addition to trading these guys, they're also going to lose someone good to Seattle. So is your plan to lose Cernak or Foote to Seattle, gain 3M in cap space, and then still have to trade two of Palat, Killorn, Johnson, all of whom can really limit the destinations? Having to attach a 1st to lose Johnson, since teams see how over the cap Tampa is.

Pettersson 8 x 9M or 7 x 8-8.5M.
Hughes 6 x 7M or 5 x 6M.
Kerfoot would cost more than a 3rd btw. Versatile player on a reasonable contract, good defensively and stepped up in the playoffs, a good age to expect him to not get worse during the next couple of years, that's at least a 2nd.

The blue jackets are targeting Reinhart as the answer to their center woes? Interesting. I thought they'd retool a bit, sell off a couple pieces, rebuild around their younger guys and say goodbye to the vets and pending UFAs. Is Reinhart really a fit there?

This team just isn't as scary. Brown is not close to Nylander or Kadri. That second line is fine but not fantastic. Perhaps we also have a coach that gets them playing for each other and any talent shortcomings are solved.

Composed of players who want out, who were in the news negatively lately (kuznetsov, Marner), or who just have bad contracts that their teams would love to get rid of. I know Habs fans still like Weber but this is a favour for the next five years, trust me.
Kreider - Eichel - Marner
Laine - Kuznetsov - Pavelski
Duchene - Hayes - Kessel
Parise - Tyler Johnson - Andreas Johnsson
Lucic - Little - Neal
Vlasic - Weber
Faulk - Doughty
Gardiner - Erik Johnson
Matheson - Seabrook
Bobrovsky

Hyman at 5M is realistic but not for six years, that's gonna age worse than Lucic. Coleman is not a 5M player, never has been, and even if one gm thinks he is, Dubas isn't that gm.

Coleman 5M? Hyman 5M x 6 years? This is ridiculous. You're also selling super low on Marner, Dumba is not nearly enough. Also Minnesota needs centers, not wingers. Terrible trade proposal.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Obviously Buffalo fans would never be happy unless it's for McDavid at 50% retained, but come on. It's a blockbuster that fairly values Eichel's talents and sets the Sabres up for solid depth for years to come.

You may not need Strome but another team could use him, flip him for another asset. He's a warm body to tide you over. He's not negative value, anyway.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cakecakecake</b></div><div>No team would take Skinner and Eichel. The return on an Eichel + Skinner deal would be paltry.
You can include Georgiev in the deal, does that fix it? Pretty clear Buffalo needs a rebuild if they're giving up Eichel, so aiming for a #1 dman today makes no sense, they need futures.</div></div>
I also included Zac Jones, making it two good defense prospects and a forward, plus Kakko of course. I feel like that'd be a great base for Buffalo to rebuild from, in addition to Dahlin and Cozens.

But I do think BUFF losing him and getting futures back and the promise of brighter tomorrow's to the <em>Mafia</em> is not going to cut it to the people that buy expensive tickets $$$...
<em>As I posted elsewhere:</em>
Two things...IF Buff is going to get rid of Eichel then IMO:
a) They go for it 110% by finding a dance partner/pidgeon that'll take Skinner too, and
b) BUFF is dead last in all things "Goalie/Goals-Against/D-Fence" stat-wise so that'll likely be a major ask back of that "#1G-man Starter &/or #1/#2 D-man"...</div></div>

Lmao there are not 31 teams in the mix for Eichel. Saying a package around Kakko that includes a great defensive prospect as well as several other good pieces isn't a real offer is just betraying your own homer goggles. Best of luck dealing with reality when the return for Eichel is less than my proposition.
