<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brenfox31</b></div><div>You tried to Cap Dump Smith as a rental and ended up retaining exactly what you needed to get rid of.. You retain 4 million to "save" space???? also Smith is (despite his early struggles) probably better than Mrazek, and you just traded Frolik for literally nothing. if you wanna trade Smith because he hasn't played well, at least get something in return.... Also, you need picks and decided to give them a 4th just to make it worse.

I really hope this was a joke or just a way to trash on Smith, because if you're even slightly serious this is sad...</div></div>

Yes, IT IS SAD that it has come to the point where Smith needs to be wiped from the Whole Organization. It is an indictment on Mike Smith.

I'm NOT dumping Smith for Cap reasons. I'm getting him the Hell out of my dressing room, and nobody is taking our problem, so I need to give something to get something.
So I'm trading Frolik and swapping a 4th for a 6th in order to remove the stench and bad attitude of Smith from my whole Organization.
I wouldn't waive him because nobody will take him and then he will pout even more than he already is, and I can't send him to Stockton, because I don't want him exposed to my up and comers.

It's a shame that it has come to this, but maybe Mrazek will be happy to buddy up with Rittich, or if not then bringing in McBackup to partner with Rittich won't be any worse than Smith ON-ICE.

So, no, there's not $4M of cap space gained, but the way it's structured we would gain about $1.4M, LEAVING us with $4M of space after the trade to do something else.

AGAIN, NOBODY WILL CLAIM SMITH ON WAIVERS, AND I DON'T WANT HIM POISONING MY GUYS IN THE MINORS, SO I HAVE TO GIVE SOMETHING TO GET SOMETHING AND THE SOMETHING I'M GETTING IS RID OF SMITH.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>I'm from Western Canada, but not Alberta. Alberta sucks.

Calgary fans are just an interesting breed, I don't understand them. They always go nuts and gush about guys they want to trade. If they are so amazing and valuable, why do you all seem to want to trade them? Hamilton is the best defenceman in the league a future norris winner, also how quickly can we trade him? Most fans overvalue their own players big time, we are all guilty of that to various degrees but I haven't seen anyone on here mention any of the Flames core players at all but they'll go nuts on role guys and build them up into superstars. If I went off only things said on here, the best player in the history of the flames is Brodie! Girodano never is even mentioned and he's the Flames best defenceman by a longshot. He's the real reason why Hamilton looked so good.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>Straight up, of course I'd take that trade. But that just won't ever happen. My point is, all Flames fans are very insistant that Brodie is one of the best defenceman in the game and yet they are always trading him. Ususally for players who are a lot better than Brodie.

For example, I've seen several Brodie for the rights to Nylander and a 1st rounder. Which is an insane price for a guy who would likely be a 2nd pairing guy in TO. But according to Flames fans Brodie will win the Norris because he's that good. Its just a really funny thing I've noticed on here. Its the exact opposite of what Edmonton fans do on here, which is to make trades where they always lose and lose bad. Draisaitl for a collection of garbage and a right handed defenceman or something stupid like that.</div></div>

Dude, I don't think Brodie is going to win the Norris. I just really love Prayko and I'd love to have him on my team, which is why I would trade Brodie, who I think needs a fresh start somewhere, and to facilitate the trade I am also offering up Rasmus Andersson, Jon Gillies who is a 6'6" monster in the crease and a 2nd round pick.

It's not a horrible offer by the way if you believe that Andersson has 1st pairing upside and Gillies only 2 years ago looked like a star in the making.

Should St. Louis do the deal? No. But mostly because they traded for O'Reilly and signed Bozak, so they must feel like they can make the Playoffs, but I actually don't think they will.
