<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CharlieFoxtrot</b></div><div>Poolparty is actively bad at hockey right now. Everyone gets that right? He's A LOT worse than Burakovsky, particularly 2nd half of 2018-2019 Burakovsky. Just keep that in mind, because it's kind of crazy how many proposals have Burakovsky going for a worse player.
Good Poolparry BE better? I guess, but we're contending right now.</div></div>
Guys who were immediately better after leaving edm.
Hall
Eberle
Shultz
Drake cagg
Yak
You can’t say he’s not better or worse bc nobody actually knows bc of how bad edm screwed up his development
By your logic Brett Connelly should have been terrible also.m but coming to dc saved his career.

Yup. We will have a solid squad. Connelly is gone but who’s to say bura doesn’t fill in and produce the same numbers. Connelly shooting percentage was insane

I honestly agree!!! I mean the capitals will be fine. The defense is way better and the top 9 is similar I’m not that worried

Making the playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>Did you just call Marleau a good hockey player :tearsofjoy
what is with the 2022 1st too. There is no way in hell they are trading that. It could be a 1OA!
Lets have an honest talk about Gudbranson and just say he's not going anywhere because there is no one here to fill that role.
JJ contract is a 2 year deal, aka expansion draft.
They will keep him this year if a reasonable deal can't be found and dump him next as his contract will only be a 1 year deal then. They can bury him in the AHL and save 1 million while playing Riikola.
This team isn't nearly as desperate as Toronto. The comparison isn't even close.</div></div>
I think grudbranson is a solid fit for the penguins. On top of that he’s not worth giving up assets to dump. He’s a serviceable dman who’s overpaid by a few million. Similar to orpik when he was making 5.5m in the last years of his deal.
JJ is 4years at 3.25 million. That term x $$$ amount doesn’t make his contract moveable at all to any team unless the penguins pay somebody to take him. more than it cost to dump Marleau to dump JJ. That’s just facts. Marleau is a good hockey player. He’s not great but he scored 20+ goals 4 of the last 5 years. I guess that’s my major point. Teams don’t take on terrible contracts for a 3rd round pick. That’s silly

Penguin fans need to realize that just yesterday the leafs had to pay a 1st round pick to dump Marleau. He’s an actual good hockey players. So to dump JJ AND GRUDBRANSON it’ll take much much more than that bc both players are awful and have term. Both would cost a 1st round pick and a high end prospect to start the conversation. End game would be multiple picks 1st and prospects and maybe rust jarry guys like this

It cost a 1st to dump 1 year of Marleau...... and he’s actually good. Penguins will need to give up more than that to dump JJ. So 1st round pick and a high end prospect to start the conversation

But they are UFAs which traditional get paid more. Think the Leaf wouldn't mind having the four picks from the Isles, and the 10m that they have set aside for Marner. With that 10m they can find ways to signing other players.</div></div>
Yeah but you only have 5 years of Matthews and let’s say it takes 2 years to properly develop a 1st round pick (I think that’s generous) the earliest 2/4 of those 1st round picks are ready is in the last 2 years of Matthews. And tbh I highly doubt either are marner level good not to mention JT isn’t getting younger.

Everyone keeps using the word overpaid. Marner at 11.5 isn’t overlaid considering what the current market is for 90 points players. Look what skinner just got..... look what Panarin will get. “Overpaid” isn’t really overpaid. I’m ffs look what you guys paid Matthews and he’s yet prove he’s worth more than 10m. The superstar was a -9 on a stacked leafs team

“We don’t need marner” name a team that traded /lost their most productive player and still was really the following year. (Nyi?) I would have said best player but the Matthews cult would have lost it. Even tho marner had more points. Ppg. And was a +22 and Matthews was a -9

Orlov could get you a pretty massive return but then you trade your best lhd and would need an immediate nhl ready replacement. Eller is cheap for a 3rd line center imo
