Capitals are entirely too deep in that area for him to advance. Holtby grub Copley samsonov these are all guys he would have had to leap frog

Ever since Tom Wilson’s playoff incident. Gmjr has done nothing but try to find grit to match up against him and has failed. This is another example.

He’s talking out of his asz so a laugh technically is a fart? Connolly is a product of Washington Panik is a great add for the caps. When he scores 40 points this will be an amazing deal. Remember everyone laughed at the caps for Carlson Wilson Kuzy and orlov signings too ..... people on this site aren’t smart normally

Panik at the Capital 4th line boost
Boyd scores 20points in 53 games that’s pretty good. I would rather have him play over gersich if it came down to it. Pirri would be a great add and he might be able to leap from Panik if his play isn’t great

More I think about is I like orlov a lot better than brodin. And Oshie over zucker. I think we are going to be fine next year. Metro will be tough but caps are solid

(PIT/ARI) - Kessel, Birks, 2021 4th for Galchenyuk, Joseph
Penguins dumped an a guy who scored 174 points in 164 games. Phil was the catalyst for the penguins winning 2 cups also.....
They received 1.9 millions in cap relief and a guy who scored 92 points in 154games.
That’s 82 less points over 2 seasons..... not to mention AG is a ufa next year.
They got a solid D prospect
Imo the penguins are just making moves to make moves. They have literally closed the window in 1 calendar year. Seems dramatic but look what they gave up compared to what the received. This includes that awful JJ signing.
AZ wins this trade but in all honesty there wasn’t a trade the penguins could make that would have been a win....

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>netminder71</b></div><div>I'm not sure this is a championship caliber team with that 4th line. Maybe with a back to form and healthy Oshie and Kempny, a mistake-free Orlov, a back to top form Holtby, and confident and healthy Djoos, Gudas not doing stupid things, AND good years from V and Conno.....maybe. And all that banks on Kuzy showing up to play every night.</div></div>
There’s a lot of reports saying alexeyev ajf and Fehérváry are just about nhl ready. I think this would allow the caps to trade orlov and maybe use sieg in the top pairing. I like how he played In the playoffs and I think a full season would do wonders for him. Or use djoo and when gudas leaves move him to the rhd.
I also would just use ajf or gersich at 4lw

Haha backstrom stats rival JT and Matthews and Kuzy are both 80-90 point players. To sag they are below is simply silly. Look beyond regular season stats. and backstrom just won a cup. In the last 15!seasons kuzy scored the most points in a single playoffs. Come on man gtfoh with they are below them. Backstrom and Kuzy are right up there with the best in the league.

Vrana plays with backstrom and Kuzy. Those are 2 of the best centers in the nhl? He’s also had 1 good year. He’ll sign for 3.25 -3.5

That 4th line is amazing .... 2/3 of the 4th line scored 20 or more points last year.... Stephenson should just walk and let gersich or someone take that spot. Or have him play 13th forward.
Tbh I’d rather have bura than conno... conno will get paid more than 3. More than likely he gets 4m. His shooting % was unusual high aka lucky.
I think bura will have a big year next season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>I'm not sure what your point is about Kovalchuk. He's in the same situation as Burakovsky. The Kings won't be able to trade him unless they retain a significant portion of his salary.
The Caps likely qualified him because they don't want to lose him for nothing. He still has value as an NHL player (as does Kovalchuk). Better to qualify him and explore moving him to a Western Conference team with retained salary than make him a UFA and watch him sign with the Penguins.</div></div>
My point is a player being overpaid is simply opinion based. Bura is still young and 3.25 for a potential 40 point guy isn’t terrible

Haha you guys overpaid kovi...... bura value is mainly in his potential and the caps would more than likely keep him than retain 50% of his salary bc “he’s not a 3.25m player”. I would at most do 500k but again I would have to get a pretty solid return on him.

All those guys, besides Yak, were also better pros than Poolparty is now. Watch the guy play, he's legit bad. He needs a lot of time in the AHL.</div></div>
I’ve watched him play. He’s very solid. Connelly and dsp are guys who were lost causes or aren’t nhl players. Without them no cups. Bura is good imo but JP could be the next vrana
