Simple off-season
If the wings are going to pay that much for a LD they might as well pay for Chychrun who is much better defensively.

Baby Steps to Playoffs

If it were this years draft I would agree. The 2023 draft is going to be stupid deep so stockpiling as many picks as you can leading up to it could be a big benefit. I think hronek is a great player don’t get me wrong I’m just unsure if he fits the team defense culture yzerman is trying to create long term, ya know? Additionally I figured the fact that he’s cost controlled through 23/24 would bump his value up some.

Baby Steps to Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>I doubt Dallas gives up a 1st for Hronek even with a 3rd coming back. Plus we have no one to eat up the 22+ minutes a game he plays. I like Lindstrom a lot but his play falling off at the end of the season means he still needs to adjust to the length of the NHL season which I'm confident he will but adding minutes to his game right now isn't going to help. I think too many Detroit fans undervalue Hronek, sure his defensive play needs work but to score regularly in the NHL today you need that 4 player in the rush. Being able to get production from defensemen is more important than ever. Is Hronek the long term answer? Probably not but it's not wise to trade him before we have some one who can step in and at least help eat up those minutes. I do like the Zadorov signing and I think pairing he with Hronek would be beneficial for both of their games.</div></div>
I personally think Hronek had a lot of value but I don’t think he necessarily fits the team defense mold that Yzerman wants to create. There’s some plays I watch him get beat by the attacker and he doesn’t even touch them. Hypothetically if all of these events (or something similar) were to take place would you not see a top four of Seider, Petersson, Edvinsson, and Zadorov (who can play RD) as sufficient? Then have Staal/Walman and Lindstrom playing on the bottom pairing? Just curious what you think.

My thought process is they're in win now mode so the more space they clear the more players they can sign that are better poised to help win a cup. Losing a 1st doesn't mean a whole lot if you can add more firepower in the middle-6 forwards or even in the top-4 defensemen to bring home Lord Stanley.

I was unaware anything was said. My bad

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>If this is your dream I'm a little worried for you. All most all Wings fans would consider this a nightmare. Detroit can't afford to give up that much for one player and no player Eichel included is worth that much. For future reference you just don't see 2 rebuilding teams trading with each other because they are after the same things.</div></div>
As of right now rebuilding teams seem to be the front runner to pick up Eichel already like the Kings and the Rangers. Detroit has had an enormous amount of picks and prospects at their disposal many of which are high end and may be facing a log jam at forward depending on how prospects progress. I think this could give Detroit a true 1-2 punch down the middle for well over a decade. Plus Yzerman definitely can be aggressive if he wants to as he was with Tampa in the past. I'm not saying sell the whole farm for Eichel, I'm saying if the price is right why not go for it especially considering so many older players are coming off the books next year.

I disagree. Raymond is an electric prospect along with some other scheme players like Fabbri and Cholowski who is just starting to find his game. I could see additional/alternative picks or prospects like Berggren going the other way. That or if the Ericsson trade didn't happen I could also see Yzerman taking on Okposo's contract for the last 2 years.

Like I said it'll probably in the range of 7-12 and I'm 9 or 10 is the most probable. If it were top 5 I don't think Canucks move the pick either.

It would be like mid-high 20ish 1st from Washington for a 7-12 pick from Vancouver. I think taking on a year of Eriksson's contract for that jump and a 3rd would be a fair trade.

Season Opener Possibilities 21-22
Depends on what's sent the other way. We have so many potential till top-end prospects and picks I think we could afford to overpay slightly to fill a need. Additionally, Benning has a history of being aggressive and there's already a good core in Vancouver it's the secondary that's the issue so I would say it's definitely possible if its an 8-12 pick.

My thought was if they traded for a younger goalie then there may not be a need to trade up for Wallstedt. Like I think a lot of them would play well enough but we know what we are getting with Bernier and I personally think Yzerman would rather develop a goalie. I could see some sort of move being made in a year or two if we don't draft a goalie when we have a more competitive team.

I think you're undervaluing what you're giving away. I think Brodie would be worth someone more like Sandin than Lindgren. Also as a Wings fan I say you wayyyyy overpayed for Glenny.

I thought they may because they have Holtby. It's one of the few pieces I actually thought made sense because they are solid between the pipes.
