PLD to MTL is being worked on
A Dubois trade would have to start with Dvorak + FLA's 1st + another A/B+ prospect (Guhle, Ylonen, Roy, Kidney, Farrell, Mesar, ect.). I wouldn't like that as a Habs fans.
This type of trade feels like cutting corners on the rebuild (i.e. TOR signing Tavares to big money before they were a contender). Give the prospects the time they need to develop.
As great as Dubois would be for the Habs, this trade doesn't make sense to do this year. Habs doesn't have enough cap space now but will next year. Wait until next offseason and go for him then if he's still available.

Draft Day Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shanesaw9</b></div><div>Islanders trade aside, the Philly trade feels like too much of an overpay.
Basically 5th overall for 13th, 26th, Dvorak (27th + 2024 2nd Round Pick), and Mailloux (31st). You can get a good prospect at 13th overall and keep the rest of those assets or use them in a better deal.
Would love to get Nemec, and you're right it will cost a lot but that's too much for me.
Edit:
For comparison I wanted to see what the draft pick value works out to, reference https://www.google.com/amp/s/soundofhockey.com/2022/06/06/examining-the-value-of-nhl-draft-picks/amp/
5th = 484
13th = 310
26th = 175
Dvorak (27th + 2nd Round) = 203
Mailloux (31st) = 139
TOTAL = 827
Not sure how good this chart is but it should give you an idea of how much of an overpay this is. You could probably take out one of Dvorak, Mailloux, or 26th overall and still get it done.</div></div>
Totally agree that this feels like an overpay but I don't see a reason for Philly to trade out of that spot unless they significantly improve next season. DVO adds needed center depth and trading JVR opens up 2.5m for them to go after another FA. I think it would be realistic to offer this trade without Mailloux or 26 initially but it might be necessary to eventually include it to tip the needle. There really isn't any precedent for this type of trade so it's a shot in the dark.

Habs TDL and Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DucharmetheDOMinator</b></div><div>Oof, rangers are not giving schneider AND a 1st</div></div>
NYR have Miller, Jones, Schneider, Lundkvist who are all 20-22yrs old, offensive defensmen. They're stronger on the right side and locked in with Trouba + Fox long term so you'd have to think Schneider/Lundkvist are more likely the one(s) to move.
Tampa traded Foote (a late first rounder) plus a 1st for Coleman so I think the Habs have to push for similar value -- i.e. 1st + A/B+ prospect. I've added Montreal sending an early 3rd back to make up the difference.

Habs TDL and Offseason

NYR aren't giving up Schneider or the 1st alone for that package.</div></div>
I mean literally every report out there has Chiarot going for a first. If there are 12+ teams offering up their 1st rounder than someone will likely add in another (small) piece as the difference maker, no? And yes, Habs would definitely retain 50% salary. I kept getting an error when trying to do it.

Anderson plus one more draft move
Why not? Rakell can play any position, is a proven goal scorer and realistic top 6 option. He's only 27 and has term. This takes the burden off of Drouin and gives us more options in case of injury upfront.

Actually just curious.... what are the oilers planning to do with JP? When do they cut their losses? Can't imagine them ever getting a 1st for him.

Arizona moved picks 14 + 45 for 11 with the Flyers. Might have to add another pick to get that move up. Targeting a Jack Quinn type.

New Habs Mantha
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>redw1n9s</b></div><div>No, it's not. Brayden Schenn isn't even close to as good (or valuable) as Mantha.
Why in the f*ck would Detroit trade their best forward - a guy they clearly deem as franchise worthy - for an undersized, borderline 2/3C who is going to ask for too much money. You people are utterly clueless and it pains me.</div></div>
Dude. I was only talking about contract comparables here. This is how it's done around the league. The comp was also Domi to Schenn, not Mantha.
Obviously I see Mantha as a better asset then Domi which is why I added two 2nds in a deep draft and a LHD that fits into your lineup. There's a trade to be made here because both team's can help the other. There's also something to be said about whether Mantha can put pressure on Detroit if he wants to go closer to him OR go to a team not currently rebuilding.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>redw1n9s</b></div><div>That's not how this works, at all.</div></div>
Yes, this is how it works. Agents will look at high-end comparables for their client, while GMs look to the low-end.
Prior to the play-in, there was an article written comparing Domi to Brayden Schenn and suggested a 6yr x 6mil sort of deal.

Don't think that helps out both teams?
Detroit gets a clear upgrade at 2nd line center + needed LHD + more picks in a rebuilding phase. Montreal gets a scoring winger and has picks to spare.

OEL LAINE
Ya, Suzuki will not be eligible. Had KK not made the team out of camp last season, he wouldn't have been eligible either. Unfortunate mismanagement of assets.
I definitely agree with you on Romanov (wouldn't want to see him go) but if the OEL trade were to happen first then this would give us plenty more time to find another young LD replacement. If the Habs are truly in this "Win Now Mode" for the next 2-3 seasons, I'd rather them actually go for it with these types of trades. Romanov has tons of potential but still is unproven.

MTL Offseason Changes + Big RFA Signing
Like if you're going to argue that Vegas would prefer a player like Ghetto, Carr, or Hudon over Plekanec take a look at players exposed from other teams. They have a chance at a half decent roster. Vegas scouts might not get a chance to properly evaluate those three as they have to go over the rest of the league. Plekanec has the name value.
Also, if Emelin is picked over Plekanec, this scenario would still work.

MTL Offseason Changes + Big RFA Signing
Think about who else is available for Vegas. Montreal protects 7F/3D/1G:
Forwards: Galchenyuk, Gallagher, Pacioretty, Shaw, Radulov (extension before deadline), Byron, Danault (with the way these two are playing now it makes sense)
Defensemen: Weber, Petry, Beaulieu
Goalie: God
There aren't many other solid options for a team looking at being competitive right away. Plek, Mitchell, Emelin all have one year remaining. DD and Markov aren't resigned after this season (in this scenario). The rest are all AHL players and prospects. Plek is really the only guy that can contribute right away effectively AND is one of the bigger names available to Vegas. They're going to be so far under the cap anyways 6million for one year is not a big deal.
