Mantha and Domi are pretty close in terms of trade value across the league.

Don't think that helps out both teams?

Detroit gets a clear upgrade at 2nd line center + needed LHD + more picks in a rebuilding phase. Montreal gets a scoring winger and has picks to spare.

Pass from Detroit, we’ve already been through this song and dance. Want to pony up KK or Suzuki then we can talk.

I would shocked by that, but also hope that is true for MTL sake when trying to trade Domi.

Cost of Mantha would be Domi+ 1st or Caufield

Domi drafted 2013 # 13
Mantha drafted 2013 # 20

Domi 251 career points
Mantha 173 career points

Domi's last contract 2x$3.15mm
Mantha's last contract 2x$3.3mm

Domi's highest goal total is 28
Mantha's highest goal total is 25

Domi's a center, Mantha's a winger.

Mantha's been more injury prone than Domi.

Do I think Mantha has slightly higher trade value than Max? Yes. But not by much. maybe a 3rd.

For that last time it's been reported through the Detroit media that Yzerman has no interest in a Domi for Mantha deal, Pony up either KK or Suzuki and we can talk. Domi could command around $5m to $6m per long term we can go cheaper #2C by drafting either Rossi or Perfetti both will probably be better then Domi anyways. Domi+Kulak plus lesser picks aren't getting you Mantha so forget about it he's not getting moved period.

Yes, this is how it works. Agents will look at high-end comparables for their client, while GMs look to the low-end.

Prior to the play-in, there was an article written comparing Domi to Brayden Schenn and suggested a 6yr x 6mil sort of deal.

Bottom line we don't need a #2C in Domi making between $5m to $6m per long term when we can just draft either Rossi or Perfetti as our #2C for much cheaper. And will more then likely put up similar numbers during their careers.

No, it's not. Brayden Schenn isn't even close to as good (or valuable) as Mantha.

Why in the f*ck would Detroit trade their best forward - a guy they clearly deem as franchise worthy - for an undersized, borderline 2/3C who is going to ask for too much money. You people are utterly clueless and it pains me.

What is the highest contract that you think Yzerman is willing to offer Mantha?

I'm guessing Yzerman drafts another D in the first round. Maybe he even moves back a couple picks to acquire another asset.

I think quite possibly either 8 x 7 or 8 x 7.5 Mantha isn't worth that much but that's probably a fair assessment of what he'd receive.

Dude. I was only talking about contract comparables here. This is how it's done around the league. The comp was also Domi to Schenn, not Mantha.

Obviously I see Mantha as a better asset then Domi which is why I added two 2nds in a deep draft and a LHD that fits into your lineup. There's a trade to be made here because both team's can help the other. There's also something to be said about whether Mantha can put pressure on Detroit if he wants to go closer to him OR go to a team not currently rebuilding.

Doubtful unless he trades down a few spaces for the extra 2nd and drafts Sanderson.

If that's what Yzerman is prepared to offer, then I don't think there's much of a conversation here. He'd likely be a Red Wing for life.

that's pretty much exactly what I was thinking! it's also possibly though that he takes Sanderson at 4. Seider went alot higher than most people had him on their respective lists.

I just know that Mantha closed on a new home a week ago, Pretty sure if a deal wasn't close or Yzerman wasn't offering him what he wanted. I doubt he goes through with it.
