1st round pedigree, was pretty much a regular on the team last year after his call-up until his injury. His value is still probably around Brannstrom/Liljegren (drafted next to him) if you're more familiar with them.

I don't think Seattle takes a 35-year old with that much term and AAV left, but if they do I think the price is still reasonable for a full season+playoffs of a Norris winner.

Getting a 1st and young prospects makes a lot of sense especially if they eat salary (which they would have to). Imagine Getzlaf as a 2C or even a 3C? that team would be scary</div></div>
In terms of salary, the Avs are probably the only contending team who could eat Getzlaf's entire salary, which could be valuable to the Ducks if they want to quickly turn around and load up in free agency.

Hall Getzlaf and Manson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Salzy</b></div><div>That would definitely be of more interest to the Ducks.
It all depends on what GM Murray decides to do, we have cap space and if we could add a top 4 RD and a top line forward this offseason the ducks could compete with steps forward from guys like Steel, Comtois, Jones, and Lundestrom among others. Depending how the lottery plays out we could add a Lafreniere or Byfield to the mix as well (Wishful thinking to be fair)
In a scenario where we continue to retool/reshape that deal would definitely be considered but it would be hard to part with Manson but the Avs are one of the teams that could get it done</div></div>
Fair enough, I do think the Ducks can contend in 1-2 years and Manson would be a big part of that. I guess the trade would work better if it were just for Getzlaf - with Johnson and Makar the Avs don't really need Manson anyway.

Quite A Hall
For me the trade breaks down as:
1st and 3rd to take Backes' contract
and
Heinen and Vaakanainen for Hall
Honestly I disagree with most of these comments, as Heinen and Vaakanainen is probably way less than what Hall is worth. Add another 1st and this could go through, but the Bruins should definitely not do that.

I mean Kessel was technically a third-liner when he was the leading scorer on the cup-winning Penguins. Obviously he's still going to be on the top PP and he's good enough to be on the top line, it's just A) don't want to mess with the top 6 chemistry and B) spread out the scoring

Well to get an established and consistent 1C you're gonna have to give up an elite prospect like that. I agree that Cozens has a higher ceiling than Monahan, but that's the tradeoff when you trade a prospect for an established player, and a star player at that. 1 for 1 seems fair value to me (I'm not particularly high on Monahan tbh), but Buffalo even having to add assets wouldn't surprise me either.

I would think that Nylander at his age, contract and HIGH skill level would fetch a top RHD.</div></div>
I just honestly don't see any team being willing to trade a top RHD for a winger, especially at this time in the season. I can't name anyone that would fit Toronto's needs better that would be available. RHDs are pretty abundant in Buffalo I guess but guys like Montour/Risto/Miller aren't shutdown D like Hamonic is.
I think Hamonic did struggle his first year here, but he's really found his game playing with Hanifin, despite the tough zone starts he's put up positive possession numbers in the last couple seasons. Rielly seems to have a similar play style to Hanifin, and I think that can be a really solid pairing for the Leafs - really shoring up the defence which is what you need. The price is definitely steep and I certainly wouldn't trade Nylander until Marner is back, but the 1st rounder should balance the value out imo.

Brodie > Ceci
This is pretty obvious I think. Contracts are almost identical, but Brodie is a much better player.
Hamonic (including his extension) << Nylander
Nylander is a great player, but you have enough offence in your lineup. Honestly there aren't many stay-at-home top 4 RD available, and Hamonic with an extension is a solid pickup. Don't forget you're also getting the 1st round pick.
Ideally this would probably be best after Marner comes back obviously.

Holl can replace Marincin at 7D - honestly don't know much about the two.
Brodie is an upgrade over Ceci, and Ryan is honestly there to even out the cap. He's a good 3rd line player though and can chip in some depth scoring and two-way play.

I just think he's much more dynamic and skilled than Monahan. Nylander might not be as good defensively, but that's what Backlund is here for.
