Deals all look ballpark reasonable. Nothing against them. Only issue I have: is Borgen ready? If he is this looks like a home run.

No way would he get Dahlin. 1D is way more valuable than 1C. But yeah, probably not nearly enough. I fell into the same trap of moving only guys I want out. Change Mittelstadt with Cozens.

The package would most likely have to include at least 3 of your 2020 1st, 2021 1st, Jokiharju, Olofsson, Cozens, or Reinhart.</div></div>
Ok, fair. I would do any of those 3 pieces together except Jokiharju. Preferably 2 1sts and any one of the 3 forwards.

Ok, I can buy that. They're both 31 and have a boat anchor in Seabrook attached to them. Take the 1st now and maybe flip it for some more immediate help. Not sure they'd want to make the pick if they're jumping back into go for it mode for the next 2-3 years.

That's what I would do. Wait to try to fix the team until after the expansion draft. But that is a tangent and wholly irrelevant as to which trade has more value. As it stands related to your question, I'd take Asplund and a protected 2021 first from the Sabres over a miscellaneous 1st and 3rd from a team of Strome's choosing.

Sabres
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>Let's look at this another way. Is the better or worse than an offersheet? 2021 unprotected 1st and a 3rd. All teams would rather have that than this trade.</div></div>
Worse. Asplund isn't junk. Better than a 3rd. As a GM I'd roll the dice on a Sabres 2022 first round pick rather than some mid to late first rounder from a team Strome would willingly sign an offer sheet with. Good chance Sabres suck again next year. I'd take that bet 100 times out of 100.
All the trades are in the realm of reasonable except for getting a 2nd for McCabe. Maybe at the trade deadline to a contender with injuries but not during the offseason. A 3rd might be possible so not too far off.

Finally a reasonable Brodin trade. Might be an overpay for Silfverberg. Don't get me wrong, I' make the deal in a heartbeat but Risto likely has more perceived value in the league that than (Asplund and a 2nd are close to a wash). Vatrano might is a sneaky good move but McCabe alone might not be enough to get it done. Add in a mid level pick maybe.

Love the Monahan deal. Best trade idea I've seen on here (ignoring the insanely one-sided ones which would be great too...). Pass on giving up so much for Raanta. Let Hutton ride out another year or waive him. Either way, let Ullmark carry the load.

Thank god. Horrible trade for the Sabres. They both are. Middelstadt for a goalie who is far from a lock to be good? Hard pass. Haven't we had our fill of 1st round picks for unproven goalies? I'd rather have Ullmark and miscellaneous veteran backup than overpay like that.

Expansion Draft Prep
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>So what you are saying, even using your standards, we could add a premium forward and defensemen and still not be worse off for the draft?</div></div>
Yes, but the timing is the key. That's the whole point of this entire suggestion. Do nothing for 2020-2021. Position yourself to have protected spots available for valuable assets you can hopefully fleece from other teams for less than market value before they lose them for nothing in the expansion draft. If you want to flip Reinhart for someone you'd want to protect or young high-upside guys you wouldn't have to rather than paying him, I'm listening to that conversation. Too soon to sell on Mittelstadt but that debate could be had as well. But barring either of those: do nothing. Sacrificing the season (even though the city might burn) looks like it might be the right call.

And, if you try to tank again, 6 years later, the city will be burned to the ground. Its time to win. Its time for the GM to be bold and make moves to make the team better.
If we do the 7/3/1 with the current roster we are talking: Eichel, Reinhart, Skinner, Olofsson, Kahun, Mittlestadt, Larsson, Dahlin, Jokiharju, and one of montour/miller/ristolainen/pilut/mccabe and ullmark.
How many of these guys are you terrified to lose? You wont add a player because you might lose johan larsson or colin miller?
get it together</div></div>
Players I wouldn't want to lose:
F: Eichel, Reinhart, Skinner, Olofsson, Kahun, Mittlestadt (6)
D: Dahlin, Jokiharju (2)
Goalies: Don't care
You're ignoring something so very, very obvious. Let's see if you can figure it out. LMAO

Eichel and cap drop plus compliance buyout
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Paul13</b></div><div>1 I know sabres are not shopping Eichel. If you could direct your eyes to the team explanation you would understand that.
2 two A prospects, 2 first round picks and a cheap top 6 center plus a top pair defenseman is a very good offer it may take the addition of 1 of Fiala, or Kaprizov, it would really depend on what other teams were willing to offer, but it is far from a pathetic effort.</div></div>
Staal is old and the Sabres aren't anywhere near going for it so that is a piece they wouldn't need. Only want futures if you're trading Eichel. There would definitely need to be at least 1 A+ can't miss prospect. You could argue Dumba is a downgrade and he's definitely not a definite top 2. Still not close.

Sabres aren't moving Eichel until after he refuses to re-sign in the last year of his current deal. That said, Sabres don't want or need Dumba and everything listed isn't enough to just get Eichel let alone throwing in Montour. Pathetic effort.
