Adding Offense and goalie to compete with Hutton

Was referencing what Guerin wants. Top 6C, prospect, & 1st? I don't think so.
Agreed that Brodin is worth more than Mittelstadt by quite a bit.

A idea
Interesting idea on Okposo. I would think Buffalo adds a late round pick there and Zuccarello would have to be willing to waive. Adding a year at 6 million might not be worth it though. He'll be 36 at the end of that deal.
Tampa would likely want a cost controlled D back in any deal for Cirelli. Mittelstadt, Borgen (or maybe Ryan Johnson), and a 1st is probably the starting point. I'd bet they move some of the expensive wingers with NTCs to teams they might want to go to (not Buffalo) before moving Cirelli.

Is anyone actually dumb enough to give up that much for Brodin? I wouldn't think so.

sabres again
Hard to argue with any of that except maybe Thompson making the team and Reinhart moving back to center (him or Johansson, flip a coin). Does it put them in the playoffs? Maybe. A lot would depend on Cozens.
You've achieved the 3 main goals: Top 6 forward (though I'd rather have a real center), middle 6 depth, and Ristolainen gone.

Don't like Athanasiou but, honestly, Buffalo probably accepts except it would have to be a different 2nd piece. Nothing against Benning but Buffalo doesn't need more RDs. Maybe a 3rd round pick instead.

Pietrangelo isn't coming to Buffalo and we shouldn't want him. Better things to do with the money.
A 1st for Henrique plus more? Pass.

Then all you're probably getting is Jokiharju and a1st or 2nd (though with Botterill who the hell knows). Still probably better than the deal above depending on your opinion on Borgen and Mittelstadt.
The deal as is does make some sense though. Cost controlled talent and good ammo for next year's trade dealine. It's definitely not that far off.

Buffalo is almost definitely the one adding to that trade.

Honka is a cheap option with a good deal of upside. They need as much cheap talent as they can get with all the expensive lead weights they're carrying around. Strome's price is rumored to not be prohibitive. Change the 2nd to a first, and throw in a cheap depth forward (e.g. Asplund, Thompson, or maybe Mittelstadt).

Not blaming him. To get value you usually have to give value. Most other GMs aren't Botterill who is just going to give assets away for nothing.

Pass on the Perreault and Stepan trades unless your thinking is to flip them at the deadline. Then meh. You could probably still do better just moving Ristolainen for picks.

No. Keep them coming until the season starts again. If it does...
Devils certainly need an RD more than Zacha but I'd guess they'd be gun-shy on a bigger cap hit after the way Subban worked out so far. Great trade for the Sabres if they can get it. Take out the 2nd and it's probably still a good trade for Buffalo.

NO CBO
So Reinhart for an older, worse player who probably would almost certainly have Buffalo on his no trade list, an overpaid 4th liner who is basically Girgensons, and a mediocre 1st. Easy pass. The starting point would be Zacha and the NJ first. Just a horrible deal for the Sabres.

Agreed. This was my favorite option but this opens a huge hole for Dallas at 2C. I can't see why they would do it unless they have a great prospect or 3 at C. Not too familiar with Dallas.

That was my thinking. If the mandate to cut salary from ownership is real then maybe they get ahead of it to maximize return. He is a UFA in 2 years so a team like Buffalo might pay more to have 2 years to convince him to sign.

Sabres to desperately fill 2C (though they could do it way cheaper). Florida...cheap? No real hockey reason they'd ever do it.
