I’d offer Ullmark and our 2025 first for Mercer, but would fully expect Jersey to say no and counter. There are probably half a dozen possible trades that could work for Ullmark.
I don’t believe Sweeney even engages in discussions for Swayman especially now. Unless the objective is to stop discussions and have them focus on other teams, the continued mention of Swayman likely isn’t going to create a positive outcome</div></div>
Most of us over here agree with the above

A Delusional Devils Fan
Matheson trade is beyond brutal for NJD. He was a cap dump in 2020. He a again a cap dump in 2022. Since then, he got some power play time in 2023-24, somehow his value has gone way way up? He wouldn’t play a single minute on power play in New Jersey. I doubt he gets such a bump on his value, especially with better options available on trade market (Leddy, Krug) or in free agency (Skjei, Gostisbehere, Barrie, etc)
Domi extension is too long. He has been too inconsistent to get a 4-year deal. Give him 1-2 years.
Holtz alone for Ullmark is plenty…more than enough.

NJD 24-25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJTM</b></div><div>You left some meat on the bone here. You still have $5M you could spend on the roster. Do something nice. You can make edits. I do like the idea of adding Brayden McNabb and maybe spending a bit more on a goaltender. They have to find a goaltender that’s as close to a sure thing as possible and I’m not sure Filip Gustavsson is the answer.</div></div>
I did write in the overage myself, not realizing CF added that in for next season recently, so I have $1.6m more to spend than I thought. What I said in description is I would like to upgrade on Bahl, but I'm not going to move all my chips yet. We can have differenting views on Gustavsson, but I really don't like any goalie more than him (when accounting for his skills, age, and cap hit, and length of contract) outside of Ullmark of goalies that are truly available (if you want to count Saros as available for now, go ahead). I do not like Markstrom for age and cap hit, I don't like Jarry any more than Gus for skill yet has a worse contract. I don't think there are many sure things, and honestly I don't want to deal with Boston fans thinking Ullmark is worth the 10th overall pick when he can't even be extended until after the draft, and I'm not taking an agent's word for it. So for those saying "tHeY cAn TaLk BeFoRe", without a contract, no deal on the 10th overall pick for Saros or Ullmark.

Take out Samu Salminen…NJD have so few center prospects in pipeline, he may be only one who has a shot.
But appreciate that you plucked two former UConn linemates, and now transferees in Wood and Salminen here (to Minnesota, Denver, respectively)

Kevin Bahl is not the answer to any question. You need to find fits with the current defenseman and NJ is going to value him more than Boston should. We acquired Peeke to fill that role and he should do it well.
I do think we need more depth at defenseman because the loss of Peeke has changed the physicality equation though the reason we are losing is we aren’t creating enough offense
If anything, I think this series is going to lead to a long term contract with Lindholm though I’d love to get him on a 1 year, 8.5m contract as a show me option

Sure…but in three-team deal (with #10 pick, #13 pick, #17 pick) I don’t know how the team with 13th pick ends up adding two assets here. Shouldn’t it be team with highest pick?

I think yeah 3rd line guys who can score some and play 2 way to fill out the bottom 6 is the goal. Speed and Size are keys in this area.
Foegele, Trenin, Malenstyn, Rossi, etc etc. Maybe replace clarke with a 2 way veteran like Martinook</div></div>
Yeah Foegele would be an excellent fit for sure

That being said, and following your line of thinking if Guhle is moved, shouldn't it be for a player of a higher caliber than the Dach / 13th overall deal? Sure, Rossi was 9th overall 4 years ago, but I don't think anyone (including MIN fans) think he's still worth anywhere close to a top 10 pick.

The gap between Rossi and (no one) is probably larger than Guhle and Hunt over the long run.
But that makes sense. I think Morgan Frost would give most of what Rossi could…and is likely cheaper.

If we move marner

They have to extend both Luke Hughes and Simon Nemec in the next 26 months. There’s no room to fit Mitch Marner in there too.</div></div>
Thanks for this. Over the years we have this silly posts where a high priced player is traded to a team (in this case New Jersey). But do we ever see the post of the team receiving the high priced player....rarely.

He was drafted essentially in that same spot (11OA), has met/exceeded expectations since leaving Russia, and will contribute to his NHL team long before a 2024 pick will.
I like Casey, but NSH's 1st and Pärssinen is way too much for him.</div></div>
Personally, i think the value is about even.... BUT id rather have Askarov than Saros in Nashville so that automatically kills the trade for me anyways. I personally think Parssinen is gonna top out as a Sissons replacement and i really like Casey.
Also with how Daws and Schmid has stuggled in New Jersey, i dont think theyd gamble on another unknown NHL quantity.
