Wouldn’t CAR be a better team moving KK out and keeping Necas? Even if you “gave” him away, dumping KK’s salary would allow you to sign Necas.</div></div>
maybe... i think the "issue" with Necas is that he doens't play a good defensive game. He wants to move to Center and Rod does not trust him with that defensive responsibility. While KK definetly underpreformed this year he has shown flashes of what he could be. He plays a much higher level of defense and that is valuable to the canes. I think Necas could easily be a consistent 70 point player in other systems, it just that the hurricanes system is not for him

Hurricanes lineup for the playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>KK shouldn't be. Rod's being an idiot, because Rod has to give odds to the opponents in some fashion. Drury or even Fast himself playing over KK isn't going to happen. If only because of Kotkaniemi's playoff history as quite a clutch performer</div></div>
Well practice lines show that Drury is over KK. Also earlier in the season it was Drury over KK. Rod puts his trust in drury over KK. Rod has brought this team to the playoffs for 6 years in a row, he isnt the issue that you say he is, does he make questionable choices at times...yes, but he has shown the type of leader he is for the team and he is the coach that players would run though a brick wall for, that is what makes him a Jack Adams Winner

Hurricanes lineup for the playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>I mean technically, Staal would draw in since both KK and Drury played against Columbus</div></div>
Yes the guy that was resting during a throw away game would draw into the playoff lineup not the healthy scratch for games where we were fighting for the presidents trophy. KK is the 12th forward but when fast is back KK is the 13th. Do I fully agree with KK being 13th, no. But he is for this playoff run

*KK would draw in not Drury, kk has been a scratch (yes I know you are going to say he got a goal and an assist against the bluejackets). Drury is the one filling the 2C spot based on the lines from practice not KK

Kotkaniemi more
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Canes aren't going to move KK. They need to move Staal. KK's issue is that he's a great 3C. But Carolina have 3 of them. KK's infuriating because he's shown flashes of being a 2C, and he's got the tools, but he cannot put it together. Getting him consistent minutes with competent players will do him a world of good</div></div>
The BIG issue with that is you can’t simply move Staal. He has a NMC. Not sure if you understand it but that means no movement without his consent. So he’s not going to waive it for teams that aren’t in the playoffs because he’s older and wants to win, so a “cap dump” isn’t possible. Also he’s 35 and will likely retire after winning a cup/or at the end of the contract. He also won’t want to leave NC if his whole family has lived here for 10ish years. I get the idea of moving on from him but it’s just not in the books.

Kotkaniemi scratched
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>No, he's not god awful offensively! That's the point! Rod's absolutely mismanaged that. Kotkaniemi's creating chances for fun but cannot get the bounces right now. What he needs is offensively competent linemates and a vote of confidence. Watch him! Put him next to Svechnikov (who I would have less problems with being scratched right now) and Necas and let that line play on muscle memory.</div></div>
Yes svech is in a slump but you are a special kind of stupid to say you would scratch him over KK. My satirical post of you wanting a roster of only KK might have just been true. Rod has got this team to the playoffs 6 years in a row I don’t think he is the issue. Maybe the issue is the player that’s done nothing all year

Ahhhhh yes the guy with 11 goal all year would score that. Isn’t the reason he’s out of the lineup because he’s god awful offensively. Not to mention his line wouldn’t be on the ice for the first goal. We get it you are a KK fan but my lord open you eyes and realize he isn’t the second coming of Jesus like you think he is. Yes I think he can be a solid 3C for the rest of his career but nothing more. I hope that I’m wrong and would love to see him be more but he hasn’t showed much of anything this year after game 15.

except for the fact is the aho line and the staal line that were on the ice for the first 3 goals. Doesn’t take a genius to read a stat sheet. But I’ll check the “boogers picks from the bench/60” to see if he would have made a difference

Makes no sense for the Canes. They go out of their way to get KK, so they wont trade him back for nothing. Also the Canes could just buy him out for that same price if he doesn't pan out

Canes are not going to move morrow or nikishin. I would like Connor but isn’t the best defensively, but the canes may need to do that for someone to score some goals. Not fully convinced on Helly. Canes also won’t move all those picks, they want to be a good team for a long time not bet all futures for one cup

Plus we offered more. He wanted to test FA and a chance to get a better scoring line. His agent grossly overplayed his hand. No one was biting and nino was left out to dry after we moved on and everyone else made their choice for LW. So he had to settle for a bad deal from Nashville</div></div>
He’s cheap and scored goals he plays well with staal and fast. Either we grossly overpay for a guy like marner, Connor, Keller that doesn’t fit they system well or we can get a guy who does

We offered him the contract he has now but he wanted to test FA. No one offered him more and he took what he could get. He provides 25 goals for a 3rd line, knows the system, and is physical. 30OA is essentially a second round pick
