<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Grantedspace96</b></div><div>What do you feel is wrong with this deal?</div></div>
Draisaitl is an Elite player, extremely underrated and one of the best forwards in the game, he's currently in his 3rd consecutive season putting up 70+ points, he's already got 36 goals and 74 points in just 61 games this season, he's on a good contract at 8.5 million for 6 more seasons, and he is just 23. Hayes is a good 2C, a valuable asset, but he is a pending UFA, he is on pace to set a career high in points, but that only means he will demand more money in free agency, Buchnevich is a good young 2/3rd line winger, with potential to grow into a top 6 goal scoring winger his trade value isn't overly high, but he is a decently valuable asset. Andersson is a pretty strong prospect, the most valuable asset you have heading to Edmonton, Hajek has hit a wall in his first professional season, posting just 0 goals, and 5 assists in 56 games for the Wolf Pack this season, all while being a team-worst +/- -27, so at this point his value is minimal, and the 2nd also provides decent value, but a player of Draisaitl's level is extremely hard to come by, and would get a much better package if he was to be dealt.

Tampa cant afford Stralman next year. They make a sideways move to secure a dman of equal quality but they do have to give something up to entice Edmonton to trade Larrson not to mention they get $333000 in additional cap space.</div></div>
You clearly don’t watch any oilers games, Benning isn’t bad at all, he’s a fairly consistent 3rd pairing Dman, how can you be such an awful Defensman but yet be a +7 on a weak team? The highest +/- of all Oiler Dmen, watch a game before talking. Stralman for Larsson would be a reasonable deal, wouldn’t make much sense for either teams, but value is fairly similar, $300,000 is very minuscule, not worth trading arguably your best prospect for a similar d-man that you free up only and 300k

some of these trades absolutely suck. why would tampa trade a second pairing RHD, and a top notch defensive prospect for a second pairing RHD and a 4th:tearsofjoy. why would the oilers trade a 24 year old reliable 3rd pairing defensman for a 29 year old ahl defensman:tearsofjoy

Team Canada
No way Matt Murray makes team Canada he's been one of the worst goalies in the NHL this season, Carey Price hasn't been great either, and most likely wouldn't be the starter, Devan Dubnyk and Marc-Andre Fleury both good candidates.
P.K. Subban and Mark Giordano are locks on the blue-line, and with the way Shea Weber has played since his return from injury he would have a good chance as well. Also Letang is playing well and would have a good chance.
Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin are locks for the team as well. Claude Giroux also a very good chance. The way Jeff Skinner has played this season he will surely be in the conversation.

Okay then we are on the same page lol, but scoring goals really isn’t much more valuable because an assist leads to a goal, and Drai is on pace to reach 30+ this year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>It lost something in the explanation, but the trade had the Oilers getting Parayko who's pretty good at defense and plays the side where the Oilers are a bit weaker. I don't think it's that unrealistic. I just think it's a huge overpayment for a wing who could score 40 goal with McDavid, when they could get Burakovsky who has already scored 40 goals with McDavid in juniors and is four years younger, for a lot less.</div></div>
I was replying to the comment saying “take Parayko out put in Bortuzzo and it’s even” which is pure stupidity, if Parayko is in this deal I agree it is somewhat even, but trading for Tarasenko makes no sense if we are giving up Drai, because that’s a step backwards, I agree Burakovsky is a cheaper alternative that has good potential.

Buddy did you know that there is more to being a good hockey player then scoring goals? lets look at the stats from the past 3 years,
Tarasenko (27 years old) -- 194 GP, 82 G, 80 A, 162 PTS, 0 +/-
Draisaitl (23 years old) -- 195 GP, 70 G, 119 A, 189 PTS, +5 +/-
So how exactly is Tarasenko better or more valuable? no to mention Draisaitl is a relativley strong defesnive player, and kills penalties, and don't forget Draisaitl is 4 years younger, The Oilers would never move Draisaitl for Tarasenko, because that would only set the team back.

Big Deal with Oilers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aspina25</b></div><div>Neal Pionk is pretty good offensively, but he's a defensive liability. He gets his stats boosted by being put on the top PP unit and getting secondary assists whenever someone scores. He is the worst defensively outside of Marc Staal.
Brady Skjei has his moments, but he has made countless errors this season that someone in their third season should not be making. The coaching staff has acknowledged this and he's been a healthy scratch for multiple games. He had a stellar freshman season and has been mediocre since.
Claesson doesn't do anything flashy and that's probably why you haven't noticed him. He is excellent at blocking shots and breaking up plays.
Just because you hear someone's name a lot doesn't mean they're good.</div></div>
I understand Claesson is a good stay at home defensman, but hes nothing more then a third pairing guy, I am not hating on him.
You call Pionk and Staal defensive liabilities, but according to Hockey Reference's point share system, Pionk and Staal are 1 and 2 in defensive contributions, They are also 1 and 2 in defensive zone starts among NYR D-men, and they are the go-to pairing on the Pk, so how exactly a defensive liability? Also Pionk is the leading shot blocker on the rangers btw.

I seriously doubt that you watch the Rangers... Neal Pionk, and Brady Skjei are both defiinetely better than Shattenkirk, and you bringing up Claesson just shows how clueless you are. I along with a lot of knowledgeable hockey fans don't pay attention to advanced stats very much, its not that they necessarily don't matter, its just that they aren't a proper way of evaluating a player whatsoever, especially in cases like this, you literally said, he has the best corsi which means hes the best defenseman, that is such a stupid thing to say.

He was kept to low minutes at the beginning of the season due to his return from leg surgery. He also hasn't been on the top PP unit and loses minutes there.
If you look at relative Corsi values for all Rangers defensemen, he has the highest by 2%, quite a large margin. Thus he's the best defenseman.</div></div>
See that's where you are wrong buddy, having good corsi doesn't mean you are a good defensman, that's one of the dumbest thing i've ever heard, advanced stats are useless, actually watch them play instead of looking at that crap. Shattenkirk is most definitely not the best D-man in New York, any educated hockey fan will tell you that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aspina25</b></div><div>Shattenkirk is a way better asset than Lucic. He's still been the top defenseman for the Rangers, and is still well above the point of being "bad". His contract only has 2.5 years left on it, while Lucic's abysmal contract has 4.5.
If you ask any team in the league which they'd rather have, every single one of them would rather have Shattenkirk, so calling them equal is far from true.
That being said, the Rangers should go nowhere near this trade due to how horrible Lucic's contract is and RNH isn't worth taking it on when they can get a decent return for Hayes elsewhere.</div></div>
This trade presents bad value for the Oilers. RNH is just under a point per game, and is a strong two way forward, that is still young (25) and a good contract, no way the oilers move him, as he is a vital part to our team. Shattenkirk on the other hand is most definitely not the best D-man on new York, he averages the 5th most ice time of there defensman, and is well known for being a very one-dimensional defensman, but is only 4th among NYR blue liners with 9 points this season in 29 games. Hayes is a very good player, but he doesn't have as much value as RNH, DeAngelo is another decent young Dman, but he has struggled to find his footing in the NHL, but finally seems to be hitting his stride, but his value isn't overly high, Lucic is a pretty good 3/4th line winger at this point, so obviously his 7mil price tag is ridiculous, but he can still compete as a bottom 6 player. All in all, I dont understand why the Oilers would move RNH, just too shed Lucic's contract, that makes no sense to me, nevermind the picks on top, Hayes is also a pending UFA, while DeAngelo is a pending RFA.
