Yeah, maybe it would need more, but I'm not sure what else Ottawa would target. Protas for the bottom 6?

My main comment is that the Sens are just entering their window, and a futures package like this likely doesn't meet their needs anymore.
What about Kuznetsov + 2023 2nd for DeBrincat?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AnonymousSensFan</b></div><div>Could you explain why the Sens would do this?
Sens need a goaltender, and as their best goalie prospect, Mads is likely to make the jump to the NHL permanently this season or next. And he's cheap, which is important to the Sens based on approaching cap issues.
I just don't see why they do this for an AHLer. They have enough of those prospects.</div></div>

Yeah, Sens don’t do this

I don’t hate this. Sens get someone back for next year that can play on our middle six, and some draft capital that makes up for some of what we traded for. Lassi needs to be traded so I don’t mind him being included.
If the Sens can sign DeBrincat for 8x8.25 I think we will sign that though.

Goalies take a while - he's a top goalie prospect across the league.

I agree with that, but Det has Cossa in the pipeline, and we don't have a goalie with close to the same acumen

I suspect the Sens would be looking to acquire a more finished product that Zadina if they were getting a roster player. Ott's roster is built on compete, so I'm not sure if Zadina would fit in that mold from my memories of his scouting reports.

I guess I'm still anchored on 2020-21 where he was having a tough time. Maybe this is closer to accurate value

I was working on a Niedereitter + Helle framework for a bit too. Might need to include a goalie prospect in there a well to backfill their pipeline, otherwise, this should at least get the conversation started

Have to imagine the Sens don't want to trade DeBrincat to a division rival - Detroit and Ottawa will be neck and neck for years

Debrincat for Gibson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Neptune12</b></div><div>That's exactly the way I see it. Replace Debrincat with a middle 6 player and fill in the holes we have in depth and add a true #1 goalie such as Hellebuyck, Hart, Hill, Saros.
If we re-sign debrincat Im afraid well be very top heavy, our depth will struggle and we won't have the cash to pay for a #1 Goalie.</div></div>
Yeah, I don't like the idea of having 4 forwards earning ~8 million, especially with Chabot and eventually Sanderson + Chychyrun's next contracts, that could mean 56 million spent on 4 forwards and 3 D.
If we are trying to make the playoffs next year and beyond, we are so much closer to that goal by acquiring a goalie than with keeping DeBrincat and signing a UFA/pushing Sogaard too early.

I also don't think that' a good recoup on value for Forsberg + DeBrincat. I think Hart's stock is pretty low right now - probably unwise for the Flyers to trade him.

What makes you say he wouldn't accept it? Doesn't want Canada, or wants to be with a team that's farther along and firmly in the playoffs?

I've heard the comparable of Gibson to someone like Murray that the Sens just offloaded - a shockingly similar contract as well.
I do think Gibson has more in the tank though. If the Sens want to acquire a solid goalie this summer, it's really between Gibson, Vejmelka, Saaros IMO. Would do the above deal for any of those guys

Alright, let's try something else:
Batherson + Ostapchuk + Sogaard for Gibson?
Established top 6 guy, big body prospect in Ostapchuk ( projects as a good 3rd liner as his floor) and Sogaard as a goalie prospect?

The way I see it, We had a full year without Norris, and our offense was more than good enough, so if we trade DeBrincat, we can fill his role with a middle sixer or give a kid a shot
