Gibson says no

Certainly not enough to get Verbeek to change his mind on not trading Gibby and that’s before taking into consideration you want the retention

Yes career high 10 goal filip zadina and 18 overall is such an outlandish ask for a 2 time 40 goal scorer going to his home town team

Have to imagine the Sens don't want to trade DeBrincat to a division rival - Detroit and Ottawa will be neck and neck for years

It would probably drive the price up. And there arent many teams with the cap space to sign him that are looking to add players

Sens are better right now. Wings have some catching up to do.

I suspect the Sens would be looking to acquire a more finished product that Zadina if they were getting a roster player. Ott's roster is built on compete, so I'm not sure if Zadina would fit in that mold from my memories of his scouting reports.

I agree with that, but Det has Cossa in the pipeline, and we don't have a goalie with close to the same acumen

Sens have a Stutzle. Wings have a Raymond. Nothing wrong with Raymond. But he's no Stutzle.

There's a fairly high 23 1st in there man, we're not landing a better offer than that if we're being real, and it's not like they're asking 50% retention.

That said, Gibson not waiving to go to Canada rather torpedoes the entire idea.

Then why do you want him?

The offer is not beyond the realm of possibility without the retention of $5.6 million, but Anaheim isn't a franchise that is going to do that -- to such an extent, that if you added your 2024 first, ownership might veto management's decision (and Gibson's) to accept it.

Zadina's compete isn't his problem. It's very good actually. Problem is he can't score goals. Which is ironic because that's why he was rated #3 behind Dahlin and Svechnikov in his draft class.

Yzerman likes the kid. It's the only reason I can think of why he hasn't been traded. There's not much of a trade market for him either.

Because hes the best goalie available who wont cost the next 5 first round picks and 3 top prospects. The other goalies that have been brought up are like saros, hellibuyck, and hart. But no one is giving up more than 1 first to bring him in.

Interdivisional trades are becoming more common. Yzerman traded Bertuzzi to Boston putting last season behind him Bertuzzi will put up 30 goals this season.

I'm not asking for more than a first to bring him in. I'm asking for a first to bring him in, plus a prospect to bring him in, plus compensation for $5.6 million of retention if that's an ADDITIONAL part of the deal.

Retention isn't free -- especially retention of that size, for that duration.

First for gibson + a prospect for retention. That’s why thompson is there

You think that John Gibson is only worth a first?

You'll learn.
