NYR 20-21 B Smith to Ottawa as a solution
It doesn't take anything close to Andersson + 3rd to take Smith and only get a 6th back.
OTT needs to hit the cap floor, and their owner loves to take on players with high cap hits but low actual salaries. In this case, Smith's actual salary after he gets his signing bonus paid on 7/1, is only around 3 mil, vs his 4+ cap hit.
Smith possibly goes to OTT after 7/1 for a late 2021 draft pick straight up. Worst case scenario, the Rangers have to add a 4th or 5th to Smith in exchange for a 5th or 6th.

Curious cap situation post Skjei trade and Kreider signing
I think you're .5 mil too high on all 4 contracts, which still leaves the team just over the cap (whether its 83 or 84).
Something definitely happens, just not sure what:
Staal retirement or buyout?
Smith trade or buyout?
Hank trade or retirement or buyout?
At least 1 of those 7 scenarios will happen between the end of the season and September.

Rangers didnt need a deadline move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles777</b></div><div>Lee did not initiate contact with Georgiev , therefore it is not goaltender interference . Go read the rule book. Even most rangers fans on twitter have said that was a BS call. Before the 2nd goal for rangers, mckegg clearly hooked varlamov with his stick and nothing was called.
The fact that pageau got 2,5,10 for standing up for a teammate was also BS. We were playing down 3 guys and technically scored 3 goals in 10 min on Georgiev at the end of the 3rd. Not too worried about him.</div></div>
Complain about the goaltender interference, I'm fine with that. That was a goal that was going to stand however it was called on the ice. Had NYR challenged a good goal, it would have remained. 50/50 on that one and open for discussion/disagreement.
Complaining about Pageau's 2,5,10: No. "Standing up for a teammate" after a clean hit is bull**** to begin with, and it is penalized exactly as it was in the game per the rulebook because a player who lays a big clean hit shouldn't be obligated to defend himself when he gets jumped.
Georgiev carried the Rangers last night. Panarin is unbelieveable. Terrible play by Isles 3v3 to chase one player. Rangers had no business winning that game, but sometimes a goalie steals the show. It's why NHL hockey is the most entertaining sport. The parity in the league is great, and any team can win on any given day, unlike the NFL and NBA.

He'll be playing with Deangelo that whole season leading up to expansion, so hopefully he'll have decent boxcars. Think SEA would be tempted. Worst case scenario is someone like Lemieux or Gauthier get scooped. Which still isn't terrible.
We really won't have anyone great for SEA. They will pick from us what they need situationally depending on what other teams have available.

The rangers are giving up all of the good assets in this trade.
No need for J Staal.
No need for UFA TVR.
No need for overpaid Gardiner.
Lindgren is a solid 2nd pair D.
Why would we give up a 1st and a 2nd??????

Trading for 2 Overall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Noah93_</b></div><div>...And kakko wouldn’t be traded for a second overall pick.</div></div>
I would trade Kakko for the #2 straight up on the draft floor if whoever gets it was up for that trade.
1) Byfield will be better than Kakko (different positions I know, but point stands)
2) Organizationally, we're better off adding the center than the winger
I would be beyond shocked if it was ever even an option, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it. Kakko has not been bad, and his trajectory is still positive, but Byfield>Kakko everyday.

I thought I was fairly clear with what I said. Emphasis on "Definitely not." Zibanejad is not better than Eichel. Therefore: Superstar is better than Elite.

What does it take to get Eichel to the better NY team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>Eichel is not being traded and he won't ask for a trade. Also he is worth way more than that, don't disrespect him with that offer. You wouldn't trade Zibanejad for Montour, Johansson, Cozens and late 1st and a 3rd would you? Eichel is a much better player than ZIbanejad. (cue angry NYR fans saying otherwise)</div></div>
I don't think any NYR fan would say that Z is better than Eichel. Definitely not. Zibanejad is elite 1c. Eichel is superstar 1c.
Now, in regards to the trade value, I think you're undervaluing Deangelo, personally. I think converting the 3rd to a 1st makes sense, but beyond that, it would be an overpay to acquire him (which is what it would probably take, admittedly).
And I'll finally concede: Strome needs to be replaced in the trade with Chytil.
And I don't keep up with the Sabres at all, but I thought I had heard Eichel wasn't totally happy...and with them doing silly things like trading for Simmonds, it at least has me thinking: What is the direction of this team? And if I'm thinking it, is Eichel not?

Is that confirmed? I have not seen that there was no protection included.
I would be SHOCKED if it wasn't something like: Full NMC for 3-4 years, and then the remaining years something like limited 10-13 team list.

Remove the picks from the NYR trade and you might have a deal.
BUT, they still wouldn't do it because of the huge slap in the face to Hank/Zucc (trading Zucc back to NYR but then shipping his best friend back to where he just left...)
Oh, and Hank would never waive to play on so-so team in MIN.

Strome = 2nd(make it a 2020 and remove the condition)+Kaut (slight under value for NYR)

For awhile I had thought that he would too, but now I'm really unsure.
If he does, the substitution I would make is:
Krav in as 3rd line LW. Don't sign Janmark.
Other than that, I think this is the way NYR FO goes. Buyout Staal/Hank, that era is over. Re-sign Kreider and DeAngelo to big contracts. Plug the rest of the holes with call ups/FA.

You have undervalued him in every trade based strictly on the fact that he is having one (kind of) down season with 6 yrs remaining on an $11mm deal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>papishark</b></div><div>First and a prospect. I’d also be interested in like Georgiev and Buch. Both Howden and Anderson are kind of no interest to me as they top out as third liners</div></div>
Georgiev gets a 2nd and a bottom 6 roster player
Labanc gets a 1st and a mid-low prospect
So, the middle ground to trade for each other would definitely be something like Georgiev+Howden for Labanc. No picks.
If you want to include Buch, it's: Buch+5th for Labanc
