Since Detroit is still rebuilding why would they give up 2 picks for 2 players that are taking long to develop than the team originally expected. I would probably trade these pick for Georgiev since he has already proved he can play in the NHL.</div></div>
Fair point on not wanting to trade the picks for the players if you think they're not developing quickly enough (mostly true), however, care to give me your analysis on how Andersson = Avery? That is like saying Zadina = Bryzgalov. There is literally nothing similar between the two players..

This is a 2021-22 roster, so I actually had him sign a 5x6, which seems entirely reasonable.

I think I would expect to see Reunanen before Robertson, and neither are LHD anyway, right?
I could imagine Huska, but don't see it with Wall, not yet. If they end up with a top 10 pick in 2020 (likely) you're probably right, but I didn't want to do too much speculating. 1yr in HFD (actually, a really really good HFD team) probably wouldn't do the 2020 1st rounder any harm.

Georgiev splits starts with Shesty first half of the season. Georgiev is seen as a bonafide starter at that point in time and plays well.
He signs a 6-8 yr deal with San Jose, securing their G for the next year or two, as well as the following 4-6 where they start to try to contend again.

Important to note that it's the 2021 1st and not their 2020 1st.
Also, the projection here is that Georgiev's value is considerably high at this point in time, definitely warranting the 1st, considering that a 2nd is going back as well.

Yeah, kinda hopeful on my part as I'm a fan and would love to have him. Salary negotiations: he's getting older; however, box stats, advanced stats, and demand on the market probably drive it up. There are other options though, like Janmark or Boyle, amongst several others.

Correct...it has to be a draft day deal, because 1) I don't think he waives between July 2nd 2020 and whenever his NMC moves to MNTC, and 2) the trade includes 2020 1st coming back.
I agree he doesn't want to be in CAN, but is the value at least correct assuming that wasn't a factor?

He's tradable anywhere in the US and the Rangers specifically have a history of dealing players before their NMC/NTC kicks in. There is a *reason* they started the NMC after this year. It was their way to opt out of this contract in case Deangelo/Fox made big strides. They did.
-Smith can be stashed in the minors
-Hank has been in talks with FO since before the trade deadline about his openness to a trade and where he'd want to go. It's on the table and he has a lot of value.
-Strome should undoubtedly be dealt. And when Chytil was with Kreider for the month Mika was out, he was 1st or 2nd on the team in pts/60, shots/60, and pretty much every on-ice metric. He's ready for a 2C if necessary.
That's all the Rangers need to do, not complicated. Deal Trouba, Deal Strome, Move Smith to the minors, Play the kids. That's really it.</div></div>
We sit on these forums and say "...not complicated", but it really is. Any Trouba trade will be a big deal/complicated. Strome would be a newsworthy trade, and moving Smith to the minors doesn't really accomplish much because you use 80% of your savings on his replacement at ELC value anyway.
That being said, I tried sticking to your trade Trouba mantra + all the people trading DeAngelo for Hanifin, and decided to play off that: <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/322989">https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/322989</a>

A 1 year 4.5m gamble on him (in a retained scenario. There’s gotta be a market). Maybe not on a cup team but a team weaponIzumi their cap.. won’t get value back in a trade but feels like the right thing to do so it’s not a sour ending for a rangers legend</div></div>
But Hank's not waiving to go to a non-cup team. Front office isn't in control here...Hank is. He's exercised his NMC before, I don't think he hesitates to do it again if it's not desirable for him (on a personal level (i.e. achieving a Stanley Cup)). He doesn't care about the difference of 1-3 mil.

I agree completely...but
They have tanked his value by not playing him. Pundits all think he's washed up, when really he's just cold. They've made it pretty clear they are not playing him over Shesty/Georgiev, so nobody is going to trade for him when they can get him for free; they'll offer him a couple mil (vs 4.25) after the buyout.

They're not adding more Dmen to the team.
Sure would be nice if they managed to get Byfield, but Chytil isn't being moved from Center back to wing...

Yeah, I think he's worth a 2nd or 3rd still at the very LEAST, but the hard part is finding a team that wants to trade for him. A 2nd rd pick (in a so-so 2021 draft year) for a Center prospect that has pretty solid 3c potential and is young, cost controlled, and has a bad reputation (so he can easily be extended for cheap) is a good deal, I would think.

Buyout = opposite of patience. I really don't think they will be buying anyone out this year (perhaps Staal, but that's it).
Pay to trade = opposite of patience, unless it only costs pennies (like Smith + 5th for a 6th or 7th).

"without massive change"
I would have to disagree with the one thing that saves you the most money...bridge and trade Tony D. That is a massive change to this teams future.
Georgiev = not a massive change
Fast = not a massive change (but 2.5 is a discount, not an overpay). He'll fetch 3m easily.

I completely agree, that's why I left them in the roster. It's going to be super tight, but I think this is very close to what they put on the ice next year. Only changes might be:
1) Smith traded
2) Fast not re-signed
3) Kravtsov not called up
Otherwise, not much to change for next year. The following year is the start of the next window of contention, which should hopefully last at least 5 years, if not 6-8.

Lots of assets the Wild would be interested in, for sure, but "I don't think the Rangers have any other assets worth giving up for Greenway"
We aren't desperate for a 3rd line LW, considering we have Panarin and Kreider long term, and Lemieux as 3rd/4th line LW, and Kravtsov as a possible future 3rd line LW or RW.

I would be VERY upset if NYR traded Miller for Greenway. What I could deal with:
Lias Andersson + 4th rd pick
or if you want defensemen back
Libor Hajek (straight up)
or
Rykov (for Greenway + 5th)
I don't think the Rangers have any other assets worth giving up for Greenway...they'll have a hard time protecting him at the SEA Expansion Draft anyway if they did manage to get him.
