TOR: Hi Montreal. We're going to send you a sh*tload of garbage, and you're going to give us Weber.
MTL: Ya fer shur. Sounds good eh?
TOR: Oh yeah, and you'll have to retain $4M of Weber's salary.
MTL: Oh ya. We can do that. No problem.

Now you have $8M left to sign 2 goalies and Tkachuk. Not to mention that there's at least a decent chance Kessel wouldn't want to go to Calgary.

I like adding Eakin. We MUST upgrade the defense though. If we go into next year with the same defense corps as last year I'll consider the offseason a complete and abject failure.

Provorov is getting closer to $7M. Which means we'll have all of $4.5M next year to re-sign Patrick, Lindblom, Myers, a back up goalie, and a 4th line Center.

Roster Put Together Just For Fun

Why do you think he was passed over for the Olympics a few years back? (when Yzerman selected the team). If you can't see his defensive deficiencies when you watch him play there isn't much I can do to help you see it. Show me one example of any player, coach, or analyst who says Giroux plays a solid 200 ft game.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sk540</b></div><div>Dude thats exactly what he is, who are you watching? You may be confusing Giroux with someone else, but he is viewed not only on the team but around the league, a complete player. He plays in all situations, I can't for one second think of a time where someone called out his defense, his lack of hustle, bad positioning, not gripping a system even though he's played in like 6 different ones. For you to say he is far from good defensively makes me believe you do not watch hockey one bit, and just slap "random insult here" on Giroux. Im telling you, you couldnt be more wrong. Check the stats, advanced stats, game tape, please point out to me where he is a liability defensively.</div></div>

Roster Put Together Just For Fun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sk540</b></div><div>Giroux is one of the best 200 foot players in the league, is always on the PK in important times, and only moved to the wing to focus more on offense. Something this team needed desperately when the change was made. Now that you have a player who has averaged 90 points in the two years since he has moved, you don't move him back. How many 90 point guys are there in the league, how many 100 point guys? If you have a hole in a spot vacated by one of these players, you go find another to "try" and replace him.</div></div>
I love Giroux and everything he's done for the Flyers. But he is far from good defensively. The past two years he's made a notable effort to improve and he has gotten at least a little better defensively, (which is much easier to do on the wing). He will never be "one of the best 200 ft players in the league" though. That just isn't what he is.

Roster Put Together Just For Fun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Embrown809</b></div><div>Giroux has publicly stated that he prefers to play wing from now on. Splitting up the best line to even out the offense is a strategy that only works if a team has a tremendous amount of forward depth. The Flyers don’t, so It’d turn a great line into multiple good/okay lines.</div></div>
I hadn't heard about Giroux saying that. But IMO the main reason he was moved to wing was severe defensive deficiency. Which is why Coururier is a perfect match for him at center. And also why splitting up G and Coots (and moving G back to center) is a bad idea in my opinion.
I really hope we don't sign Karlsson. I also think he'll get more than that projection you used. Is that the Evolving Hockey projection?

I could possibly see these 2 being traded, but not for picks/prospects. Philly fans would be beyond PO'd over any deal like this.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check them out I wasn't aware of that site. I think you're probably pretty close on Talbot. I sure hope we don't commit to him for 3 years though. Personally I'd rather sign Elliott to a 1 year deal, but agree it's more likely that it ends being Talbot.

Buying out AMac is foolish in my opinion. We can afford his cap hit this year, so it makes more sense to just bury him in LHV for one year and then be done with him.
$4.5M is way too much for Talbot.

11th overall pick is nothing to sneeze at. Vegas will probably looking to shed some cap and can afford to part with a Center so it could happen. Most seem to be thinking Eakin is the more likely candidate to be moved but not impossible that Karlsson could be traded.
Love the Stralman signing. Adds some defensive stability to our corps which is clearly lacking in that area.
I personally think you're a little high on Provorov and low on Sanheim and Konecny, but we'll have to wait and see how that shakes out.
Overall I would probably be good with this roster, but I'd really prefer to focus a little more on strengthening the team defensively. This would mean trading at least one or two of Ghost, JVR, Voracek, Konecny, preferably for a very good dman like Spurgeon. I think this is a good effort and possibly at least somewhat realisitic and well thought out. Much better than most I've seen here.
The only downside here is that we'd be a little strapped to get all of our RFA signed next year, which is a significant concern. Doing without Dzingel and slotting in a rookie instead could solve that issue.

We need defensive dmen, not offensive dmen. Ellis pretty much **** the bed in the palyoffs this year, so I wouldn't be trading for him that's for sure. No way in hell Brodie is worth the 11th pick. Pretty bad stuff all the way around.

Yikes alleged PIT deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ConnorsCousin</b></div><div>terrible deal for MIN. If you're moving out Zucker, you move him for younger players/picks. Although if the trade goes through, what's to say MIN won't try trading Kessel?
Anyways, if they were to do the deal, I think it's easier to move Zucker than Kessel however idk who would get more.</div></div>
Kessel has an 8 team list that he can be traded to (without approval). My friend who is a Pens fan said he's pretty sure Kessel was quoted as saying "i'm not sure if I'd want to play in Minnesota", so apparently he'd have to waive his NTC to allow this trade to go through. But my main point is that it seems doubtful Minnesota would acquire Kessel with intent to turn around and then trade him someplace else. Just seems like that would be a risky proposition at best. Unless this turns out to be a 3 way trade, which I suppose could be possible.

Leafs trade w Vegas Philly
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>Hard pass on the Vegas trade, Kadri is criminally underrated
Phillippe Myers is overrated because he is 12 feet tall. I have seen nothing to say he is anything beyond a late blooming defenseman who may or may not be an NHLer. He seems pretty decent, but he isn't a top prospect, and I think people are just in love with his height.</div></div>
I'm going to go ahead and strongly disagree with this. Myers looked very good during his somewhat brief stint at the end of last year. Easily an NHL talent and likely top 4 dman, albeit with more defensive prowess than offense. As a Flyers fan, I would not even think about trading him for Kapanen. A guy with his height, mobility, and willingness to defend is very valuable.
