Sharks Circling
This looks good! And good explanation to why you did choose players to sign.
Moving Labanc is a big question mark, he is young and has potential. I don't know if its a good idea to let him go, but I kinda see where u are coming from.
I am behind getting Dadonov (he is one of the most underrated FA this year) Smith is also a smart piece of depth. Ryan is a no brainer for tryout, Sharks need 3rd line RW.
But I think 3rd line needs a rookie or young guy in it. Leonard/Chmelevski/Gregor, some kind of a young stud. Marleau - Thornton - Ryan is not a good line to be honest.
All in all if this would be the Sharks for next year, I would be excited!

I think Melnichuk is going to be ready faster than Askarov. He has KHL experience with good numbers too.

Burns at RW
I love the idea of trying Burns at RW. He has the offensive upside, and we know it. Why the hell not try it and he is right handed.
In PP you can put him in his own spot but whenever they play 5vs5 just keep him as a offensive force and he also can use his physical game stopping guys.

Late Night Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bunnymcfoo</b></div><div>Argh, why do my phone and capfriendly occasionally conspire to delete what I'm typing??? Ugh. ANYWAY.
I'm not nearly as sold on Merkley as everyone else seems to be - as I said, I've seen him play in person and watched a **** ton of footage of him and while his offensive upside could be massive, his defense is severely lacking and that's a problem for me when it comes to, you know, defensemen. He's also got a tendency to make a pass and then just, like, stop skating, which he obviously will need to stop doing, and he's small and easy to push off the puck. I think he's going to need at least a season in the AHL to develop and address those issues, and frankly I'd like options. We don't have much besides him in the pipeline for RD - almost all our defense prospects are LD, including Pasichnuk - and that worries me as a fan of both the Sharks and Barracuda.
I love Labanc. I gave a LOT of consideration to buying his jersey after game 7 (ultimately I spent that money - and a lot more - on a tattoo and have no regrets) and I appreciate his commitment to the Sharks organization. I also appreciate his potential. That said, at this point in time he hasn't proved that he can effectively play above the 3rd line and we desperately need to fill in our top 6. I think Anderson is a better risk, all things considered. I'm betting that someone would be willing to give us a solid prospect and a high second for Bancer, even if it's not Ottawa.
I will conceed that I should reconsider the Gally deal as everyone thinks that's a massive overpay (in my defense, I was <em>very</em> high when I pulled this together and I'm actually impressed it makes any sense at all!) but even if I cut that salary down to, like, $2.5 - $3 million for 2 years that doesn't give me enough to keep Labanc, since I think he's gonna get $3.5 to $4.5 million.
P.S. I love your pfp! I'm not quite ready to stop wearing my Pavs jersey, but I suspect that by the time I feel safe going to live games again I'll be ready to get a Ferraro one.</div></div>
Thanks for the reply!
Now that you have made some nice points about Merkley and have made some research on him you got my interest. I have to admit I have not made that much effort on Merkley.
Just the usual hype about him bringing the points, but not being that defensive. In my mind I always had this vision of Ferraro and Merkley pair in 2-3 years making some teams look silly.
Have you thought about Merkley for Brännström+ trade maybe?
Labanc is a high risk high reward, and I agree that he hasn't really sealed that top 6 just yet. I don't really know what to do with him yet.
Agree on Anderson, would love to check him out on Teal.
Thanks, I love me some Ferraro 8-)

I think you overvalued Galchenyuk a lot, since most of scouts have him at ''don't even think about him'' category. I think Galch would be great to have as a tryout but in like 2,3mil max.
Erik Brännström trade was random in my opinion, since I don't think Ottawa will do that.
Even though great potential, we have a future top 2-4 RD already cooking.
I would keep Labanc. Young, potential and wants to play here in any situation (based on last year paycheck) He has his flaws, but so did the Sharks last year.
I've always rooted for the guys that give that extra little interest in playing in a certain team, even if it means getting payed **** money.
Also guy who can rack up 4 points (1g 3a) in a game 7 against VGK in third period is not a guy you want to give up on yet. (oh the memories)
Anderson is great addition. I believe that he can give that extra punch to this team for the future.

I do see a bigger window where both teams say yes than one would think at first glance at this team. TOR, for all the reasons you mentioned if they go for short-term success to get them that PO success and many fans' discontent at Marner's contract and his (perceived or not) lack of production relative to his big cap-hit, and SJ if DW decides for a strategy of getting younger while still staying competitive.</div></div>
Yeah, that is good point of view though Toronto fans are going to crazy over here xD But yeah, I am all for going younger because thats what brings the hope for future.
Thornton and Burns were both 26 when they became Sharks and they made a lot of impact from the start. Hope DW has some great news in near future!
Boughner being the new head coach officially was kinda meh, could work but unlikely makes a big impact.

Mitch Marner for Logan Couture and Brent Burns
That is yikes for Sharks fans too imo.
When Sharks make playoffs, Couture wakes up like no one and his regular season production is okay matching his cap space.
Burns is the only one that money and age wise could be a little bit of pain in cap space. But imo he still got the chops and can produce up to 60p next 2-3 years, and NEVER gets injured.
Marner is a great player, but I am not sure if production + cap space match after moving him somewhere else. He fits Toronto very well.
So nope from both sides imo.
Edit2:
If we are being realistic, even if Sharks got an offer for Burns that is good, I don't think Burns gets traded as easily as people think.
DW knows his value based on other things than just age, cap space and some defensive breakdowns as d-man.
I dare to say he is face of Sharks, even though we have contenders for that spot.

Idea about just surviving this season no big moves
Nice to hear from you guys!
My problem with signing Thornton and Marleau isn't so much about not wanting them as it is about do THEY want to sign with Sharks.
I think they both want a shot at a cup and if contender/playoffs team offers them a deal, I think they will sign.
If they sign to Sharks, they could be once again used in Trade Deadline as assets to contender team.
I don't know, this offseason will indicate what DW really thinks about the direction of this team. If he does his magic, I'll be happy camper.
Go Sharks!

Yeah that seems likely. This scenario works, if no one wants to sign Koivu and he is still hungry for hockey. (maybe 1,2 mil x 2 would be more realistic for him)

Yeah, Ferraro is untouchable. He was one of the only positive suprises in that roster last year, homegrown and cheap contract.
Killorn would be good addition, although I think we are more in need of a 2nd line RW or solid 3rd line center right now.

Discussion Which move would happen first
Better #1 round pick is definitely good idea, as it is possibly deep draft. If TBL 1st round pick can get you something useful for the core, it wouldn't be bad.
Although TBL #1 would awesome to keep, but we have our 2nd this year so we are pretty close there. Free agent market is pretty mediocre imo, although there is a lot of good goalies.
I hope for some changes and who knows maybe DW suprises us.

People that say Sharks should rebuild and its already over, usually forget that we have Burns and Karlsson that can both have +65p seasons if everything clicks and everyone is healthy.

Sharks BABY First try
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claebom</b></div><div>I'd think that's about right; Sens fans don't give Tierney enough respect so he's terribly underrated in trades. In reality, he's had similar career numbers to Pageau and Coleman, and his numbers in the past two years align closely with their numbers at the time of the trades that netted a 1st+2nd+cond 3rd/1st + Foote. Lines up similarly to Dzingel's numbers too, and he got back two 2nds and Duclair. Could maybe drop one of the 2nd's to a 2021 3rd if it was the 2020 2nd going the other way, but otherwise I think the Sens are considering that and it's also a nice pick up for the Sharks.</div></div>
Thats a good point. Great to hear that someone else recognizes the value of Tierney. Could be a steal, if Sharks try to get him back. He played very well as Sharks 3rd line center. I'll change the other pick to a 3rd.
