On the Toffoli trade just send us a 2020 2nd and a 2021 3rd and we'll retain half his contract. Kings don't want any of those other pieces

Yes but they didn't play there, but those two were a totally different caliber than what we have now. Sutter also spent more time with Calgary. Dean Lombardi is 100x better of a GM than Blake could ever hope to be. The mindset can go but it doesn't hide what's going on.

That's the same thing. Just another way if saying what I just said.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KINGS67</b></div><div>Blake is not to blame right now. DL was fired and left the cupboard bare for any new GM that was going to take over. Kovi was a bad signing. Please enlighten me how you think he is a terrible GM otherwise? Because he hasn’t traded certain players that you would like to see gone? It takes 2 to tango when it comes to trades, and right now players have the lowest of the low of trade value (unfortunately).
Blake tried to trade Carter last year. Nothing came to fruition. Look how long it took DL to finally pull the trigger on a BIG trade, 5 years. (Richards for Simmons and Schenn) then the Carter trade.
Everyone saying Blake is a bust GM needs to relax. Blake has put the Kings prospect pool back on the board with being a top 5 prospect pool in 2 years (last draft really boosted them).
I’d give him a chance at reshaping this team before calling for his head.
Just saying.
PS. I absolutely agree on the kings needing to go after Krug.</div></div>
I think this next off-season will show us all what kind of GM he is. We all know he needs to go after a guy like Krug or another defenseman of that caliber (Krug, Petro, Barrie, ect) it's a very good defense FA. Kings currently have no top 4 offenseive prospects in the making other than Clague who is still taking awhile to develop not only defensively but offensively as well. Durzi is in sort of a grey area in my opinion.
What makes Blake a bad GM is the same for almost every bad GM it starts with the coaches you hire. Stevens, Willie D, and Todd who is not very good, but an upgrade over the last two.
Another is establishing a losing culture. Blake is a shark at heart and belongs there not in LA. There is a strange entity that haunts the Sharks that lingers with losing spirit and lack of heart. That is Blake and now we have Todd who is infected with the same thing. I don't like my Kings being controlled by Sharks at heart.
I know that sounds weird but I'm serious its real lol. He hasn't done anything either. He signs guys in free agency then trades them. Cammi for example. This next off-season will be a defining factor for Blake.

There is a thing called Deadline Cap Space. It is additional cap space provided to teams for a playoff run. Almost every team last year that made the playoffs was 1-3m over the cap. Do your research.

Yeah I’m a big fan of his. For the most part I’m not the guy to like the best player most. Like Neal and Yandle for example. Both really good players but not stars. Underrated imo

The back to back Penguins didn’t have much toughness but they skated through every team. The Blackhawks’ dynasty won with speed, skill and puck possession. On those teams there were not any guys who stood out tremendously for their size and grit. What the Leafs are not playing with right now are speed, forecheck and intensity.</div></div>
Hornqvist, Malkin, and Cullen are all tough players who play/played physical.
Blackhawks played very physical and hard and had those kinds of players. They were also coach by Quennville. Horrible examples.
They both were more defensively sound than offensive powerhouses. Defensively sound teams win cups not offensive powerhouse teams.

As for Boychuck, i think moving him would be hard but not impossible. Definitely will require the Isles to take back a big contract.
Any scenaruo where Isles move Boychuck and remove all cap from the deal is probably nil. It'll most likely be a Lucic for Neal type deal. All depends on who gets Neal and who gets Lucic. Lol</div></div>
What about Boychuk for Lucic??

Ladd is 4,833,333 for the next 3 years if bought out and Boychuk is 5,166,667 for 2 years then 416,667 for another 2 years if bought out. Makes no sense to buyout even one of them.

They are both players who have horrible contracts with more than one year left that aren't worth their money. Ladd is more likely to be bought out eventually in my opinion. Can't buy them both out.
