I agree this Pietrangelo contract is bonkers, however, 8M right after Doughty, Karlsson and Josi get more and 8 years, I highly doubt you are going to get such a sweetheart deal. That being said, as a Leafs fan, I have exactly zero interest in Pietrangelo, a terrific player but he's too old and will cost too much.

Pietrangelo never has been as good when was the last f’ing time Pietrangelo has been a Norris Candidate. 4 years ago and you want to know what his placement was 9th. When was the last time Pietrangelo averaged 60 points a year. Um never. When has Pietrangelo been more than Below average on defense and above average on Offense. When has Pietrangelo ever been Elite Offensively and Above Average Defensively. When has Pietrangelo ever carried his team like Karlsson and Doughty have. All of those are never so when you can accept that then the offer should come down to about 8M and I think even less. Only reason I think he stays is because the Blues were dumb enough to name him captain.

If you can't see that he isn't anything more than an Average Blues Defenseman you should watch more games I think you would get a lot more out of it.

I think the Manson deal is decent value both ways. Ducks get younger more controllable pieces. Its kinda assuming Ducks miss the playoffs by a fairly significant margin.

The Petro contract is steep, but the window for the Leafs is the next 3-4 years. Might as well go for it now.
