Either sign and trade or allow Columbus to negotiate extension prior to trade. Its a thing.

Have to agree. Giving up our best prospect to get rid of contracts that come off the books next year when we don't have a cap crunch (and i still like Lucic on the team if you disregard the cap hit). Then basically go ahead and sign the new Brouwer and Neal with the generated cap space.

Kerf
You're dreaming. Kerfoot and his contract is worth about zero. 2025 3rd is slightly better than that so its a fine proposal.

Monahan to Boston for the 1st and something like you have here.
It’s been my thought since #46 left for Chech</div></div>
Sabres need to retain 30-50% to get this done.

FLAMES NEED EICHEL

Interesting theory. So first round picks are like buying jewellary, as soon as you walk out the store its worth half what you paid for it?

Why would Buffalo laugh? That's 3 1sts and a 2nd. Just below the rediculous 4 1sts they are reported to be asking for, and they are getting luaghed out of the room.

So you don't like Monahan hey? Might be able to get a carton of eggs thrown in with that 4th round pick.

Valimaki contract would likely work out great but he wouldn't sign a 5 year deal for that amount. Dube hasn't earned more than that but also wouldn't sign for more than 2 years at close to that amount. Probably around 1.5mm x 2 years for both.

Eichel trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Eichel without question, he can be healthy by the start of the season if he gets the surgery in the next couple weeks</div></div>
Consider the relative value though. Reinhart can play 1/2 center or right wing, costs approx 3mm less, and you don't give up Dube, Zary, Monahan (who you could then flip for at 1st ++).
In a vacuum you would take Eichel for sure (assuming he can have a successful surgery and return as an elite player), but we don't live in a vacuum.

Eichel trade
Would you rather:
Sam Reinhart at 7mm x 5 years for 2022 (top 10 protected) 1st and Dustin Wolf or;
Jack Eichel (severely injured) at 10mm x 5 years for Monahan, Zary, Dube and a (unprotected?) 2022 1st.
I know which one i'd choose, and its not even remotely close.

Pretty sure you can't can't hae disc replacement surgery today and play professional hockey less than 3 months from now. Could be wrong though. There's also the risk tof he surgery being career ending if doesn't go well, which is likely why the Sabres didn't want him to do it.

He won't play next season. Maybe a 1st round pick ONLY to see if can play a year from now after surgery. Still have the problem of his cap hit and bad attitude.

Why all these trades giving up the future for a 10mm cap hit on a guy that won't play next season, and has a reasonable to chance to either not play at the same elite level, or ever again at all? Eichel is borderline line negative value now which is why no teams are trading their future for him.

That's a great package of cap dumps for the nucks. I don't think Buffalo wants to take on all that dead space even for a great goalie prospect though.

Why does BUF say no? They get top line center playing 2nd line behind Eichel and young LD with upside for an A prospect and a couple 2nd round picks. Hall and Pietrangelo contracts can be bumped up 1 mil each if required, although Hall's contract could look ugly after a few years.

Leafs Trade + Signings
You're right. These defensemen are terrible compared to the Leafs blueline. They should probably just buy them out and keep Brouwer because he scored twice as many points as Kapanen last year.
