He was brought back for the Breadman in hopes of being a Hoss-type. Unfortunately, he is ultimately neither. Saying that, I do like this trade as it does free up cap space which will be needed this summer.

Love the hate, all of you. I guess losing doesn't bother anybody anymore, hey?! There is a good possibility the CBH miss the playoffs these last four years of THE contracts, even with the "best young duo" in the league. I truly understand the negative replies (deserved!) but wth.

VGK offense is potent and he could produce well there. I only mention a first because it’s wishful thinking but he has that unique skill set so Bowman might be able to get a willing GM. I’ve seen a lot of others suggest straight up 1st or a combo of lower picks such and 2nd and 3rd.</div></div>
You betcha!

No Cup hangover for your team. Actually prolly better and just as hungry for a repeat. (This is from a very recent [18 hours or so]CBH follower!).

Yikes! The real off season would then be a year later when Binnington, Schwartz and some key bottom six forwards are due, not to mention keeping Parayko's extension in mind. That damn hard cap, hey?!

Gutting the team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jco5ta5</b></div><div>Never say never? To be honest don't know too much about him other than he along with most of the VGK team overachieved a little last few years. Would love to have Jokiharju back.... I'm not opposed to the trade. It's possible there may need to be either pick or prospect involved and I'm not sure which way. I just haven't done enough research. Would love to hear what other Hawks ACGMs feel about it.</div></div>
The Hawks really have to get tougher and dedicated to their own end. This starts with coaching philosophy and more sound management. In other words, they are in a black hole far, far away from improvement. In no way a simple fix at this point, sadly for those who care about the on-ice performance. Miller might help but yet another problem is created with the loss of Saad.

I hear ya, pal, when you have to try and justify trades to appease your audience. I think Winterpeg may be more interested in Keith (with perhaps up to half retained by the hawks). I highly doubt Vegas, or any other team, gives up a 1st for Gus, TBH. I agree as things currently stand, Toews (and Kaner) may opt to leave this sh:t show. I do not see Chicago going anywhere anytime soon unless Rocky sells the team. Therefore, they may as well start a real rebuild by gutting the entire group.

Maybe closer to $15M. Trade Price for Crawford and their next two firsts, (as good as Price may be, Chicago will still suck!) then go real cheap on goalies for that '21-22 season

Hope it's okay to respond even tho I'm who you are addressing. Seems about right for bowman to give up on a 1st rounder with nothing more than a cup of coffee.

Pretty easy. Give each free agent $1M less and go with a 22 man roster.

tank this season
Yep, I do believe they got that message already. Because Crawford has his NMC, Lehner would most likely be Buffalo's interest instead. (Both are pending UFAs). Also, it would be nice if Chicago could get their original 2nd back from the Habs as it just may be that 32nd overall!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>The problem isn't about being grateful, it's about being lied to.
If this team would openly announce that they are rebuilding then there would be much less complaining than there is now. Yes, we won three cups, thats great... but the fact of the matter is that management is trying to squeeze something that is not there out of the current group.
All of the moves they made this offseason have been present-centered this year type moves. THIS IS NOT A TEAM THAT CAN WIN THIS YEAR!
We should not have to deal with incompetence just because we had a great decade. Trust me we have enough incompetence in Chicago sports without the Blackhawks adding to that.</div></div>
Well said.

Rebuild
I don't follow the Sharks much but this is an actual rebuild, and not the typical retool or reload many here propose. You basically are getting 3 1st rounders because that Chicago pick just may be 32nd overall! Not to mention lots of cap space has been created. Nice job, bud.

This is tongue-in-cheek. Kaner for KO and Bogosian. I know you want a younger RWer but if 88 waived his NMC to move back to Buffalo, how could the Sabres say "no"?
