I’m begging them at this to rebuild for 3-5 years so we can thrive for the next 15 after.</div></div>Actually, I do understand, my friend. I was one of the few who questioned "The Signings" before the ink even dried. I was ridiculed on another site but knew the team would suffer as a result. A lot has snowballed negatively since. BTW, I was against the AAV, not keeping 88&19.

As for cat, right now I boil it down to the coach. Colliton genuinely believes a team with a crap defense can play defensive hockey. Cat only benefits from the run and gun.</div></div>This ^^. That style of play is best way for sure. Sure sucks to blow 2-0 leads, regardless of situation. This team is about this close of needing a total rebuild...nope, they are there already!

next season
Next season, the CBh should try playing in the American League! Way too much for Strome and Caggiula, would be a very nice bridge deal for Kubalik, tho. Wishful thinking on re-signing Lehner. I believe he will be traded soon and chose not to return unfortunately. Agree it is time to no e on from Crow as well.

He's a great player just something isn't working whether it's Colliton's constant line juggling or the new contract is messing with him. Seems he needs a fresh start somewhere else and will probably do better there. This is Nick Schmaltz 2.0 Barzal and Debrincat would be interesting...</div></div>
Remember StanBo extended one Artemi Panarin only to move him before the next season.

Chicago isn't going anywhere anymore so who cares if they start blowing things up. Wouldn't surprise me if Toews and Kane waive their NMC and move on in the very near future!! It may be another 49 year drought but it was nice for that beautiful 6 year run!!!

Wishful Thinking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>Yeah, I mean i'd probably do it for Leddy plus a 1st maybe. I wouldn't trade for a veteran rental with no plans to resign him unless we were taking the cap hit in exchange for us getting some assets back. And Leddys cap hit for his stats isnt too attractive, so the excess value from Saad + Gus = their late first if they are seriously contending for a cup this year. Idk, I just don't see the Isles as a good fit for Saad in general, but Gus probably fits what theyre looking for right now.</div></div>You bet.

Wishful Thinking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>I dont see how any blackhawks fan would want to do this. The blackhawks arent going to trade Saad unless the value blows them away, which this does not. Just because Leddy is effectively the 1LHD because of injury doesn't mean thats what his value is. Also, Gus > Brassard and Brassard isnt someone the blackhawks should think about re-signing. All in all, if either of these two get traded, its because Bowman realizes that the Hawks arent competing this year and its going to be for picks and young players/prospects</div></div>With an eye on the future, I really wouldn't expect the Hawks to sign either Gustafsson or Brassard. They are just pending free agent bodies in this case. Leddy had been on the top pair with the Isles im the past and certainly still has a flair for the dramatic -- one man rush ability! He would be an offensive update to Keith at this juncture, imo. Why not take this chance? They have nothing to lose.

Wishful Thinking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>slapshot723</b></div><div>I don't know if I would do this as an Isles fan, although I think the value favors them.
We lost Pelech for the season, so right now Leddy is our 1LD. Gustafsson is not going to replace him in that way. Brassard is definitely not as good as Saad, but he can play center and we have no depth at center in the organization.
I would do Leddy for Saad straight up in the off-season.</div></div>You bet. Thanks for the civility, too. Like I said citing the Caps example, Kempny wound up being paired with Carlson in 2015. While Gustafsson may not be as established right now as Leddy, he may just need BT. You know I am looking at this from a Hawks perspective. With Saad currently on IR, their forward group has been okay with the team winning a bit, thus perhaps making him expendable. Everyone knows Chicago is a non-playoff club and still needs help in their own zone. Wishful thinking anyways!

Trading Holtby BEFORE the end of the season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ConnorMcHellebucyk</b></div><div>Why would we trade for him if we could get him in free agency</div></div>If the Oil felt Holtby was the better option to win this year, an even trade of these goalies might work. Yes, Holtby has struggled for a few regular seasons but he did win in '18. For the Capitals, it appears highly unlikely they will be able to re-sign him with Ovie being a higher priority going forward. Sam and Koski could be a formible duo in D.C.
Or they could wait as you say.

Go For It
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>You don't have a clue about what kind of player Saad is. He's a defensive power forward that excels in possession; these players ARE NOT common especially when they score 20+ goals and 45 to 55 points. Fans that have never played the game at a high level look at goals/points to judge a player; a totally wrong approach with any players outside of dynamic scoring wingers.
And you're right, Chicago is not retaining 50% or anything more then $1M....because they don't need to as plenty of teams would love to have Saad on their top 6...especially playoff teams.</div></div>If we really want to be depressed, my friend, after the '15 Cup had the Hawks signed Saad to a more appropriate cap hit, they would have had him on the Toews line along with Panarin on the Kane line. I was hoping for a $3-4M aav deal that summer for the Manchild which was a going rate for his type of player. How things may have been different for a couple of more yrars, hey?!

Blackhawks Next Year - internal free agents only
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>If anything, Maatta probably gets bought out and Smith gets traded but yeah not much internal moving going on. Also wouldn't be surprised if Shaw gets moved or sent to the minors or something, dude might even be done with hockey after this concussion with his history of head trauma</div></div>What is up with Seabrook? I believe he recently had shoulder surgery plus he has hip issues as well. Is it possible he may also be done? If he is able to return, imo he is that 6-7 dman at $6.9M/. I doubt he retires and forfeits the remainder of his contract, and he certainly isn't going to be moved.
