Doughty Dealing (He was guest on Leafs Lunch Today)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>herms</b></div><div>Lupul, J.
Nylander, W.
Carrick, C.
Fehr, E.
REALLY? That is what you think it will cost to get Doughty? 2 - 35ish yr old players, a great prospect, and a 23 year old 8 point Dmen?
Doughty is arguably one of the best Dmen in the league. A Norris Candidate before every season begins.
If LA makes this trade the GM should be fired and black balled throughout the hockey world. .</div></div>
Nylander is no longer a prospect. If Salary cap was not an issue it would be 1-for-1 Drew Doughty for William Nylander. However, because of the cap hit from Doughty's contract, I needed to get creative. Carrick is just an NHL body for LA to use as depth. Lupul is never coming off the LTIR, but LA has room there. Fehr only has 1 more year left on his deal, but LA has their own cap situation, so I relieved it a little with Lewis included. Consider this deal a 1-for-1, the rest is just fluff.</div></div>
Sorry but if Hall gets Larsson then it would take Crosby to get Doughty, who I think is actually the best dman in the league. This deal would have to involve Nylander AND Reilly and if not Reilly then like 4 1st round picks.

RNH and a 1st and 2nd rounder you call "a 2nd liner and some picks"...
This is actually a pretty good trade for Nashville if they want to protect 7 forwards

I like Manson but he's not worth Panarin.
I'm thinking a Manson trade should look more like Panarin for Manson, Vermette, and a 2nd rounder at least

Your logic defies me. Pens would simply protect Murray.</div></div>
It's not that simple, pens have to expose at least 1 goalie under contract, and Jarry isn't available as he's on a rookie deal still. Only Murray could be exposed.
The only way to work around that is to trade for the rights to Chad Johnson in the Fleury trade and sign him to contract before the expansion draft.</div></div>
Like the Pens don't know that... I'm sure that if they do trade Fleury they will find a way to sign or trade for a cheap goalie to expose jeez

CHI/DAL/VAN #3/#5/Seabrook
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>graderman</b></div><div>Or Chicago could do the easier, more logical trade, moving Panarin for the 3rd OA and hopefully Johns as well. DeBrincat and Knott make the team out of camp, Hjalmarsson is properly slotted on his natural shooting side and Seabrook stays as does Hayden, Tootoo and Rozsival. I like the Wingels idea; he would be an upgrade to Tootoo, too. (Deuces are wild there, hey!?). They would still be under the cap as well with a 22-23 player roster.</div></div>
How is trading the 2x top10 scorer instead of the aging dman more logical? I'll agree that it's a lot easier but more logical...

Cap Conundrum
I'm a huge fan of trading Seabrook but are you kidding me? He's still a serviceable top 4 dman that many teams value. We're not just going to give him away. We would be getting picks back. Probly not a 1st rounder and maybe not a 2nd but he's not dead weight. The hawks would ABSOLUTELY have him and his 6.8M cap hit then lose him and Hayden and two picks to save that cap.

The Ducks pass as well. Getzlaf is their captain and they love him. He's also a center and about 1 mil cheaper.

Yes, Hawks may retain $1M. Check back in a few weeks; I bet you're going to be surprised.</div></div>
I sure hope so. I love Seabrook and I know that that contract is a huge no no for a lot of teams but he still has some value so I'm interested to see what we can bring back in a trade

Hossa has a severe cap recapture penalty so if he retires the Blackhawks are fu**ed paying 4+ mil a year for a guy sitting at home. Also, he's still good and wants to play

Ovi is just a good a scorer and is what 1 mil cheaper? So I wouldn't say the hawks aren't interested but yeah for a guy who has won three cups for a guy who can't win in the playoffs the hawks would need some good picks/ prospects too
