I reckon. But marner to nashville just makes zero sesne for nashville.
From stylistic fit: marner being a more skill based perimeter player that doesnt block shots or is willing to hit/give up the body. Things that Trotz/Brunette value in their system
To system needs: nashville depth charts needs desperately need center and rhd
Other considerations: why would marner waive his NMC for Nashville? Especially when you consider Trotz' stance on longterm expensive contracts and they just traded their starting goalie and youve seen what a team lacking a top tier starting goalie looks like in the playoffs.
That doesn't even take into consideration alot of Torontos side of things. Marner isnt their problem. Having 11M tied up in Tavares is

Remove saros from Nashvilles side and marner from Torontos side and both sides accept.

Looks like it is that time of year again where i have to show restraint to stop looking at every Montreal or Toronto AGM that involves Nashville. Montreal ones keep trying to send us Harris and Toronto keeps sending us Marner. Neither fit Nashville’s needs

Nashville doesnt need more sub 6 ft dmen. Harris isnt of interest. Stastney will be full time on our roster next season.

Id do that from a Nashville perspective. Though i just see dvorak as a damaged goods cap dump since he is almost never healthy enough to make it through a full season.
Id probably just do Tomasino the winnipeg 1st so trotz and Brunette can draft someone more in line with their vision for the future. Tomasino is a good enough talent but we have a fair amount of RWs. Id be interested in Barron for Fabbro swap as well since Brunette seems to have something against Fabbro.
Something like
Tomasino - WPG 1st
Fabbro - Dvorak (dump) + Barron

Stolarz, rittich, pickard, jones, reimer, Lankinen are all backups. Most of which have never carried a starters load or in Reimers and Rittich case havent had to in years. (Since you know they are seen as backups league wide by coaches and gms)
Samsanov - .890 sv%
Ned - .902 sv% best year since 20-21
Talbot is the only ufa starter available with decent numbers but will be 37 next season. Has lingered around .910 sv% except last season which was much worse. Would be a little leary on him personally.
Didnt realize woll started 64 games last season. Sortof silly to be looking for a starter then if he had identical stats to saros.

While likely more than adequate of a return, nashville is probably looking for more current roster/ developed prospects and brannstrom does nothing for them and the 1st wont have an impact for years to come unless they can package them for something nice.

Trade them both
I cant see Chychrun coming to Nashville as part of a return for Saros.
He wants to be somewhere competitive.
Nashville trades saros and instantly throws their competitiveness into uncertainty.
Beyond that, he wont be the guy for years with Josi around. Not on 5v5, nor on the PP. He just isnt going to be the go to guy.

I dont think theyd have any stomach for moving L'Heureux personally. He is showing quite well in Milwaukee and the coach there speaks very highly of his game. His style of play also fits Brunette's system like a glove.
Daws has slipped every season. Maybe because he was rushed to nhl but going from a potential starter to a potential backup isnt worth whoever is around pick 9 or 10 vs wherever nashville ends up. Years of lost development time, saros getting older and slower, narrowing our competitive window, etc.

So nashville gives you one of our few LW prospects for a RW prospect which we have a ton of and downgrade from Askarov to Daws to go up a few spots in this years draft? Doesnt make any sense for Nashville

Theyve done nothing but heap praise on him while giving him an average of 18:28 of TOI/game and he makes 2 million a year for 2 more seasons and just set the record for most hits in a single season. He isnt getting traded. They see him as an asset

I like konecny but Nashville isnt so close to being a real competitor that they do this. They still would have a big hole at RHD (especially if Carrier walks) and center is iffy with RORs age and Novak as 2C.

Nashville isnt the team to spend futures for aging players. Maybe a mid to late round pick here or there but not a more recent first and 3rd round pick which is overpay anyways.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>But what is so special about Saros, especially now? There are probably just as good goalies available in as UFAs and will come cheaper.</div></div>
The only goalie with decent numbers that is a starter that will be ufa is Talbot (age 36).
Sure Brossoit and Stolarz put up good numbers but they are career backups and have never started more than 30 games in a single season. I dont see the GM of a major team going with a 30/31 year old backup as their starting goalie.

Taking steps
Giving Monahan that much for that long sounds like a recipe for instant regret. Im glad he had his first healthy productive season since 18-19 but lets not go crazy with a 5 year contract. Maybe a 2-3. Even then he is basically another Novak so i doubt we want two of him up the center.
Would rather just hold onto glass if that is all he gets in a trade. Not like a 5th has much of a chance of turning into much anyways. Maybe he figures it out next season.... probably not.... but you needed the capspace here so understandable.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>I don't get why so many OTT proposals involve sending Chychrun to NSH, but the Preds are deeper with LDs than they are at any other position. He's not a fit for them.</div></div>
I could see it working if they took McDonagh as a legit part of the payment and he was willing to go there. Maybe chychrun and Josi could pair up and chychrun long term replaces josi but outside of that? We have too much tied up in LHD at the moment and it isnt a place in dire need of an upgrade like other areas of the team.
Lauzon wont be traded either. Brings too much that management/coach likes in grit/hits especially to be traded out for a guy that doesnt hit at all.
