That is a ton of cap and resources dedicate to Beniers. I havent watched him close enough to known if it is a good bet or not though. Just a real big gamble.

Yeh nashville doesnt trade all those futures for a player that can never stay healthy. CBus is welcome to sit on that contract

As a Nashville fan i have beyond zero interest in norris until he can prove he can 1) stay healthy 2) produce at a rate worth his contract
Until that happens, he is your contract to keep.

Nashville’s coach/GM likes Lauzon. They also have alot of wingers in the pipeline. Dont think they even consider that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksnOilers</b></div><div>As an Oilers fan Schaefer seems like a bust. I was shocked Nashville took him over Bourgault in the Ekholm trade but here we are, Tomasino, Kemell, L'Heureux and Wood all seem to be good though. I don't know enough about Fink but he seems to be tearing it up in the NCAA so I would slot him in for a middle 6 spot in 2-3 years time. Wood plays C so I would expect him to take that 2/3 C spot rather than a winger spot but I understand why they would want to try him on the wing.
Steps up a top 9 of
Forsberg - Wood - JG
Fink - Novak - Evagelista
L' Heureux - Parssienen - Kemell
Tomasino is the odd man out who can be moved for a d-core upgrade in the future essentially</div></div>
Schaefer took a LONG time to get going in the AHL. But he's been about 0.5 PPG over the last 24 games or so. He's looking alot better. Think he will be a decent 3rd line option in the long run. I think we went with him because we decided to trade Jeannot and we wanted that big body, grit, with some offensive flair back into the pipeline.
Only thing that worries me about fink is his size. NCAA tends to have these wingers of smaller stature that can create offense that never translates to the NHL. Though watching some of his highlights, he is a playdriver and not a passenger so he may be able to make the jump just fine

Sam Bennett and Juuse Saros
Personally think it is a bit much for saros with the extra RW prospect but Trotz likely doesn't let him go unless there is an overpayment. Would prefer 2024 1st but with Nashville having tampas 2025 1st already another 2025 1st might be nice. Add in the possible trade deadline 1st if Nyquist has another great year and we trade him and we could have a great 2025 draft.

Wood just transferred colleges so he isnt going to sign a contract this offseason.
As far as Guentzel, I'm not opposed but at that point Trotz would need to figure out a way to turn the surplus wingers like Tomasino into a defensive upgrade. We have so many wing prospects and with Forsberg, Guentzel, and Evangelista really solidifing 3 of the top 6 spots it doesnt leave much room for advancement for the Tomasino, Kemell, L'Heureux, Wood, Fink, Schaefer group. Granted Schaefer and Wood on 3rd line with Parssinen in the future might be good that still leaves 1 spot for 4 wingers to compete over. It's self cannibalizing.

Just would have to figure out what 1-2 high end prospects (that aren't Clarke or Byfield) that Nashville would have interest in. Maybe a pairing of Spence + Turcotte + 24'1st would get it done</div></div>
I like spence (especially if we lose carrier). It's probably fair. Personally have more interest in Pinelli than Turcotte. Turcotte requires waivers next season, injury issues, etc. He just isnt all that appealing. Or even just picks in his place... he is gonna end up on waivers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksnOilers</b></div><div>I understand the viewpoint on both of those prospects from Nashville fans, they seem to already have enough forward prospects to deal with within that middle 6 that Turcotte and Kaliyev would create more problems than fix them. Would there be any other Kings prospects they would have interest in?</div></div>
None that they'd want to part with.
Turcotte i would find interesting if his development path up to this point wasnt so similar to Cody Glass... drafted high, injuries hampered early AHL development years, etc. It's just the sinking feeling of been there, done that. I hope the best for him but Glass is basically on the verge of busting out and with that looming over our heads... the possibility of one of the key pieces of a Saros return following the same path is unappetizing.
Need Centers and RHD. I like Spence, Clarke, Byfield
Pinelli is interesting as well but kindof had a rough go this season production wise in the AHL but i like his toolkit.

Depends on your view of Turcotte i guess. I see him in the same vein as Glass (avoid due to various reasons) and Kaliyev just creates issues for us with our other non-waiver exempt players next year (Parssinen and Tomasino). So in my opinion, id see the value about the same as you

Nashville isnt interested in Matheson. He isnt much much younger than Josi so it doesnt do us any good in the long term and we already have an expensive LHD group. Maybe if he was closer to 26 instead of 30 it would make more sense to as setting up a successor but when Josi ages out Matheson is going to be old as far as hockey goes too. So it makes no sense for Nashville

Im a big ol' nashville homer and that's an overpay. One we would gladly take, but an overpay. I dont care if we need Holtz as another winger prospect or not. I dont care if we need Schmid or not since we have Askarov. You threw in Mercer AND a 1st ontop of more assets. Ill sort out what to do with the other stuff later.

Interesting Tomasino trade. Depending on the situation with Carrier extending this would get some consideration. If Trotz/Brunette think he is an upgrade over Fabbro long term or they like his potential (im not well read on JBDs potential) then this might be a good move.

While i feel like Brannstrom would fit Nashville’s system, i just dont see a fit there. We already have sort of a logjam of NHL ready LHD needing to get icetime in Del Gaizo and Stastney and Molendyk is going to be a quick turn around if Brunette has his way (reportedly Trotz had to convince him not to keep him after the end of camp). There just isnt enough there to warrent giving up that kind of a return and preventing the players we already have from moving up.

Personally, i dont see the allure of mangiapane especially if you extend Zucker. One or the other but not both. Id prefer zucker on the 3rd line Personally. Better choices in UFA than Mang or just wait and fill through internal channels over time.
I can still see fabbro traded somewhere though especially if carrier is extended.

Another Dach Newhook trade candidate
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>Very interesting. Considering Fabbro just signed an extension, I doubt he'd be available. But yes, I'd be interested in acquiring both Fabbro and Tomasino if I were MTL.
Fabbro would fit that "semi" veteran (he's turning 26 before next season) stay-at-home presence to replace Savard moving forward for MTL. Fabbro + Tomasino for Barron + draft pick (WINs 1st or COLs 2nd?) + your pick of one of Ylonen, Kidney, Farrell to replace Tomasino's roster spot?</div></div>
Id probably do WINs 1st personally
WRT Fabbro. I dont know what it is with Brunette and Fabbro. They just dont seem to see eye to eye. Fabbro seems to have decent stats and looks decent on the ice but only gets roughly as much ice time as Luke Schenn.... idk what the heck is goin on there. Either way, it is only 1 year that takes him to UFA and with how things have gone up to this point i dont see him signing after that with Nashville unless there is a big change of events. Brunette just does odd things sometimes with our players that are hard to explain.

Another Dach Newhook trade candidate
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>Habs could offer simply draft picks to NSH as well if Barron isn't a fit for them. I'm just trying to identify who could be a candidate (that's realistically available) that Kent Hughes could acquire similar to the Dach / Newhook trades. I'm getting tired of hearing the same names lol Kakko, Kent Johnson, Zegras....yawn...
EDIT: Also...isn't there a strong chance NSH might lose 2 NHL RDs this offseason with Barrie and Carrier? Not hard to imagine them going out and acquiring Barron to replace one of them.</div></div>
Brunette likes to run with McDonagh/Josi as a pair. Josi does well on his offhand side. Barrie has been a non factor this year for the most part. Losing Carrier makes room for Stastney to move up who although another LHD plays on his offhand in Milwaukee as well or just clears roster space for Fabbro to become a more permanent fixture in the lineup. There's alot of looks the defense could have but i dont think we will go after another young player unless we were swapping out Fabbro for one. Maybe a Fabbro for Barron swap?
As for Tomasino, im not opposed to trading him tbh. Just not sure what id want in return. I think he has a good future just think he doesnt really fit what Brunette wants out of his wingers. So in terms of system fit, im just not sure if we are going to utilize him and i dont think he ever clears waivers. He is 0.5 ppg at the NHL level. No way some team doesnt take a gamble on that.
