what do you think about this trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PLDGEY</b></div><div>OTT instant decline
At the base of a rebuild, why would we want to pay for the overpaid year of an old bad Hank?</div></div>
Also no way Hank would waive his NMC to come to a bottom team.

This deal doesn't make any sense for Ottawa. You're asking them to move back 13 spots and pass up on a legitimate franchise changing talents for an inconsistent 2nd liner and a fringe NHL D prospect.

The Coyotes start a rebuild with a OEL trade MTL need a real top 4 dman
Several details must be considarated! First, the Coyotes owner has no budget for the next season, OEL has a 4M bonus for the next year. Secondly, the Coyotes are going no where. They are not a playoff team with or without OEL, plus Taylor Hall should test the market! Finally, how many teams can take the contract of OEL? The answer : not many. I think, it's a win/win trade. The Coyotes get a 1st pick (16oa) and en 2nd pick in an excellent draft year, Ryan Poehling a future 3rd center that they need for the future and Brett Kulak, a decent defensman with a cheap contract.
Im agree with you on one point : the fact they will not rebuild! However, they need a reset. Trade OEL could be the solution for the Coyotes! I think they have nothing to lose!

This trade is attrocious.
CBrown > Athanasiou, so EDM has to add
To dump Neal will cost 1st+
To get picks coming back, and particularly the 33OA, I think EDM would have to add 14OA + Puljujarvi+

I don’t see why Ottawa would make this trade. Unless Edmonton gives Ottawa prospects, draft picks, or young nhlers Ottawa has no reason to take on these terrible contracts

Lol retaining 50% of skinners 9 mil per year. I doubt buffalo wants to pay 4.5 mil for the next what 7 years for a guy they traded away even tho he is not close to worth that contract.

if the key piece of your rebuild is a 25 year old winger who has never hit 50 points you have a problem

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockey_GoDz</b></div><div>the biggest problem buffalo has in 8 yr 9m for jeff skinner then a starting goalie 2c 3c and top 9 winger depth .. shall i go on ??</div></div>
I see 3C Sutter could be a cheap add to help depth & D & PK & he pots goals ok. Black hole for creating. 2C is hard for many teams. Top 9 W can be had easy enough & not all that pricey.

Eichel gets his college coach back
It’s a creative 3-way no doubt. No matter what trading Eichel the optics will look risky. Very difficult time trading a superstar & fitting in the $10m contract.
Realistically the Sabres need a Starter in net. Next Kreuger has to get them to play a system that they buy into & gets results. Time to move out of ignominy.
Stability & confidence are the biggest hurdles the Sabres face.

Clearing cap and replacing the anchors
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kingsfaninSD</b></div><div>Kings do not need any more D at this moment. They are not in a position to contend and want to give their young D a look. His game has gone down hill fast, he is 32 and the Kings are trying to get younger. His contract will be an anchor they don't need. They will trade Campbell later in the year if they don't move Quick. It is just a salary dump that you want Pittsburgh to do</div></div>
The kings do need LD I don't know where you get this they don't. It's pretty clear they do. They don't have any prospect that is NHL ready right now.

Where's The Freakin Hole Don?
What the biggest demand in the NHL right now? Young d-men with top pairing/top 4 potential. Wingers are a dime a dozen, but quality d-men are hard to find. Nashville is a perfect example as they stockpiled d-men and then flipped one for the young forward they needed in RJ. Sweeney has been the GM for 2 seasons (3 drafts) so how can you honestly say he doesn't know how to build a team? 3 of his draft picks have already made their NHL debuts and 2 were relied on heavily their rookie years (one in the playoffs with ZERO experience).
The fact that you say we have no first line talent is laughable and you just putting on your arm-chair scout hat. How many people had Bergeron or Marchand as 1st line talents when they were drafted? How about a guy like Johnny Hockey or the numerous other non 1st rounder that are 1st line talents.
As far as the scoring goes, why don't you look to the guys that were here. 13 goals in 6 games....Marchand managed 1 goal, Pasta and Bergy with 2 each, Backes with 1 goal, Vatrano 1 goal, Spooner 0 goals, Chara 0 goals, Krejci 0 goals. Then you factor in half the defense being hurt and BOOM there is the problem. You didn't even have your top scoring d-man in the line-up because of injury....the guy who was nearly top 5 among d-men in scoring was out and your wonder why we only scored 12 goals in 6 games.
Try looking big picture and not just going with the flow like everyone else and trying to blame Sweeney. The guy was handed a pile of **** with cap issues because of the stupidity of PC and after 1 year got us back into the playoffs, restock our prospect pool and in two drafts rebuilt half of our top 4 w/ young RHD (something most teams are struggling to find) that will contribute to this team for the next 10-15 years.

This is certainly a possible "worst trade of the year" candidate. Buffalo just robbed Montreal.
