What the biggest demand in the NHL right now? Young d-men with top pairing/top 4 potential. Wingers are a dime a dozen, but quality d-men are hard to find. Nashville is a perfect example as they stockpiled d-men and then flipped one for the young forward they needed in RJ. Sweeney has been the GM for 2 seasons (3 drafts) so how can you honestly say he doesn't know how to build a team? 3 of his draft picks have already made their NHL debuts and 2 were relied on heavily their rookie years (one in the playoffs with ZERO experience).

The fact that you say we have no first line talent is laughable and you just putting on your arm-chair scout hat. How many people had Bergeron or Marchand as 1st line talents when they were drafted? How about a guy like Johnny Hockey or the numerous other non 1st rounder that are 1st line talents.

As far as the scoring goes, why don't you look to the guys that were here. 13 goals in 6 games....Marchand managed 1 goal, Pasta and Bergy with 2 each, Backes with 1 goal, Vatrano 1 goal, Spooner 0 goals, Chara 0 goals, Krejci 0 goals. Then you factor in half the defense being hurt and BOOM there is the problem. You didn't even have your top scoring d-man in the line-up because of injury....the guy who was nearly top 5 among d-men in scoring was out and your wonder why we only scored 12 goals in 6 games.

Try looking big picture and not just going with the flow like everyone else and trying to blame Sweeney. The guy was handed a pile of **** with cap issues because of the stupidity of PC and after 1 year got us back into the playoffs, restock our prospect pool and in two drafts rebuilt half of our top 4 w/ young RHD (something most teams are struggling to find) that will contribute to this team for the next 10-15 years.
