I doubt JD is empowered to move players with term. Hes going to be gone in the offseason and it will be up to the new GM to determine who stays and who goes. At the TDL we will be just moving the expiring guys like Roslovic.

What is Voronkovs Cost
No that doesn't do it, his value is extremely high.
He's 23 and plays the sort of Nichushkin playoff game. Nearly impossible to move, wins a crazy amount of battles, can single handedly pull a puck off the wall to the middle of the ice. He's got excellent vision and playmaking, just needs time to adjust to the league.
He's currently 19th in the league at 5v5 points/60 all the while barely speaking English.
It's too early to trade him for anything but a fantastic player.

Kuraly and those two prospects are in no way each other’s competition whether for roster spot or position. And neither of them should be anywhere near the Columbus roster next season, either. Brindley should spend another year at Michigan and Dumais will definitely need at least a year in Cleveland to learn how to play the pro game.

My counter is CBJ fans start incessantly posting bad ACGM trades for like, Knies and Minten.

FWIW, the "no one wants to stay" narrative has been fueled less by disdain for the organization, and more for <a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/nhl/news/montreal-canadiens-sign-josh-anderson-to-massive-7-year-38-5-million-contract-2020-nhl-free-agency" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">wanting</a> to <a href="https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2842368-report-sergei-bobrovsky-panthers-agree-to-7-year-70m-contract" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">avoid</a> burying <a href="https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10080521-ryan-johansen-traded-to-avalanche-predators-will-pay-50-of-2-year-16m-contract" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">the team</a> with <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nhl/predators/2023/06/30/matt-duchene-contract-nashville-predators-buyout-barry-trotz/70362793007/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">really</a> <a href="https://theathletic.com/4690343/2023/07/26/nhl-worst-contracts-jones-parayko-huberdeau/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">bad contracts.</a> I actually think he didn't get enough credit for avoiding those landmines. Gudbranson is also overpaid, but <a href="https://www.1stohiobattery.com/columbus-blue-jackets-analysis/2024/02/8591/blue-jackets-defenseman-erik-gudbranson-bouncing-back-on-defense-in-2023-24" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">he is strangely bouncing back.</a>
He did a lot to build the team up to what it was during the Torts run, including the fantastic tri-fecta of <a href="https://thehockeywriters.com/blue-jackets-artemi-panarin-trade-revisited/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">absolute</a> fleecings <a href="https://dawindycity.com/2020/10/18/chicago-blackhawks-lost-brandon-saad-trades/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">of</a> <a href="https://www.yardbarker.com/nhl/articles/seth_jones_to_blackhawks_considered_one_of_nhls_worst_recent_trade_fails/s1_13132_39088939" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">CHI.</a>
Drafts are, idk...kind of a crap shoot. Unless we are talking about a GM going <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/columbus-blue-jackets-drafted-anze-kopitar-nhl-alternate-history-212458021.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">full mutiny on their draft-board/scouting department,</a> hindisight is always 20/20. Lest we forget <a href="https://thehockeywriters.com/2016-nhl-entry-draft-top-10-where-are-they-now/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">the Dubois draft</a> and subsequent dragging he got. The expansion draft hurt, but I'd be curious for someone to point out to me where in 2017 any draftniks foresaw Karlsson going from a 25-point 3C/4C to scoring 43 goals on a team <a href="https://thehockeynews.com/news/thn-s-2017-18-season-preview-vegas-golden-knights1" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">absolutely everyone agreed was going to make it to the Finals,</a> led by top-line center Vadim Shipachyov. Maybe we find out one day that Jason Robertson was Jarmo's #1 choice the subsequent draft, but it just as easily and reasonably could have been Klim Koston. We still ended up with Tex, which aint nothing of a consolation prize.
He inherited a bad team in 2013 that <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013%E2%80%9314_Columbus_Blue_Jackets_season" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">quickly overperformed,</a> and put a damper on any true rebuild hopes. <a href="https://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/06/chicago-blackhawks-trade-brandon-saad-to-columbus-blue-jackets" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">He was aggressive</a> to improve that team, and it quickly fell on its face before Torts came in and turned things around for a few years.
I'll give you credit on the Bjorkstrand trade. I still feel there could have been a way to make it work.
He wasn't bad. Wasn't great either, but it was time.

Jenner - What will it take
I'm assuming this discussion pops up again because of Dreger's report, where he <em>explicitly stated</em> Jenner isn't available. Welcome to the never-ending discussion.
The long: he's a captain on a sweetheart deal with term who's producing well with a unique, valuable skillset. The keys to his value are:
1) he's a decent 2C, great 3C, which every playoff team needs
2) He's on an amazing deal that every playoff team could accommodate
3) His great deal has term, so he's not a rental, which every playoff team with aspirations of competing beyond just this year loves.
4) His current team signed him to said sweetheart deal specifically to keep him around, and has no desire to move him.
Each of those bump his value up since you have to convince Columbus to move him, then beat out every other contender's offer. It's not like he's a depressed asset we have to move that only has a handful of landing spots. The argument is never "Jenner is one of the best centers in the league, pay us for him!", it's "Jenner has a huge market and fills a need for tons of teams, and that spikes his value regardless of his (still good) production, that's what you're overpaying for."
He's a Horvat style player who wins faceoffs like Lindholm and scores goals like Pavelski, but you can have him for this year and the next two at current Evan Bouchard money if you make a good enough offer to convince Columbus it's worth moving their unicorn.
You'll see people argue anything ranging from "expiring 3C UFA with 15 points" offers to "star 1C for the rest of time" demands. I think in reality, the Horvat deal + ??? is a decent comp: 1st, roster player/pick, good prospect. If Columbus deals him, we need a legitimate shot at replacing him soon coming back, so center prospects are preferred. Because of the deal, roster player/pick -> 2nd-equivalent, and good prospect -> top prospect.
So, IMO, it takes: 1st, 2nd, A+/top prospect to land him.
For Pittsburgh specifically, I don't think there's an A+ prospect in the organization, and we <em>definitely </em>don't want to see him in Pittsburgh ever (main rival in-division), so the price goes up more...so 2024 2nd, 2025 1st, and 2026 1st, all unprotected.

Jenner - What will it take
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>First off, scrap the attitude. I did a perfectly fine disclaimer in the description WHICH YOU CLEARLY DIDN'T READ.
Second, just be happy anyone is even talking about the Jackets. They are one of the worst run teams in hockey and probably won't be a playoff team for another decade.
Third, that offer is absolutely absurd.
While I concede for the Jackets to move him would take a SLIGHT overpay, it would be slight. That return your showing is for an elite player, so stop it.</div></div>
Good job showing you had no interest in ever having a real conversation. Maybe next time check your own BS attitude and keep the trash talk out of it if you want to have a discussion.

I do agree that this offer isn’t enough, solely based on the fact that Krebs doesn’t have much value and needs a change of scenery. But I also don’t think Jenner would have an extremely high return either</div></div>
He’s a Bo Horvat type player on a contract that costs half for this season and the next two. These are the types of players GMs drool over at the deadline. The return would be huge especially if the jackets half retain

That SEA trade reeks of desperation and future regret. For a team that has a high-end C prospect playing in the NHL in his rookie season, and a couple of others with NHL experience, they shouldn't be desperate at all. If JK gets that desperate due to his job being on the line, he should be fired before he could make a trade like that.

It would help SJS tank. Laine would be more moveable than Hertl in a year or two, especially with retention and if he regains form, which surely he will to some degree.
CBJ really need a top center and Hertl is two-way responsible so he’d be a good fit. I really like the idea and think CBJ could throw in a prospect as well, or Boqvist.
