He is 2yrs older but, on a worse team, with worse linemates he has more points in less games than Knies. He's also 6'4 and can play center if needed, assume an overpayment

No that doesn't do it, his value is extremely high.

He's 23 and plays the sort of Nichushkin playoff game. Nearly impossible to move, wins a crazy amount of battles, can single handedly pull a puck off the wall to the middle of the ice. He's got excellent vision and playmaking, just needs time to adjust to the league.

He's currently 19th in the league at 5v5 points/60 all the while barely speaking English.

It's too early to trade him for anything but a fantastic player.

Valid point, the overpayment wouldn't be worth it, seems to be the general consensus.

Exactly this. He likely projects as a M6 winger, but there is still a small chance he can make the move to center. He is a player that Columbus is not interested in moving as he fulfills a substantial amount of needs and has team control for a while. Basically he is Boone Jenner 2.0 in terms of what it would take to get him out of Columbus.

Take your price for Knies and add a bit for better production and being a center

And add a premium for his size and play style. Love how he plays. He’s a bully out there. The fact that Tom Wilson refuses to mess with him tells you everything

Pretty sure he has only played center this season. The Jackets for sure see him as a center.

yeah agreed, he is awesome. It would take an insane haul to pry him away from us.

Just wanted to second what everyone else already said, he's a pretty valuable (and awesome) player CBJ don't really consider moving.

Thanks to you, too, for being genuinely curious and also respectful. It's easy to have good conversation on here when it's basically "hey your player is great, what would it cost? Not available because he's great, that's fine, I get it, he's great" haha
