Sharks trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Carleton</b></div><div>He’s just a poor man’s McCabe. We’d be paying a 1st and Niemela for Ferraro to play on the third pairing and not contribute much. If we’re gonna keep spending our firsts, they need to be for game changers. Players that will actually get us into the finals.</div></div>
The scouting section of this very website rates Ferraro much higher than McCabe but I’m certain you know better.

I would argue that the Leafs have been needing a guy like Ferraro. Skill set is not elite but effort is 110% every night. Tons of energy and passion. To top it off, he has a decent AAV

Giving UFAs extra term to sign in SJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AStovetop</b></div><div>Uh no, this is the year of the cap dumps (who still have some value). They took on Hoffman, Rutta, Granlund, and Duclair.
Next year / after this years trade deadline is when the youth movement should be in full force. They have a lot of guys who'd already be up if it weren't for taking on cap dumps. Bordeleau, Shakir, and Gushchin are NHL ready.</div></div>
Next year should absolutely be a year of taking cap dumps and there will be multiple teams likely willing to shed some salary and sweeteners. (See the Coyotes draft pick collection compared to ours)
Why not call Winnipeg on Schmidt and Iafallo, both on bigger $ AAV and last year of deal. You could get a 2nd or 3rd to take the contract and then turn and deal them for another pick at the deadline. And you keep your cap liabilities low as more and more young guys start to be ready for NHL.
It seems unlikely that Smith, bystedt, musty and the sharks 1st rounder this summer will be ready next season, but in 25-26 they might all be? Then these contracts become a burden.
Sharks already have to figure out how to move out some defenseman, and Vlasics play as of late might discourage a buyout this summer.

Giving UFAs extra term to sign in SJ
Kind of a terrible idea, next year should fill any remaining spots by taking on cap dumps plus sweeteners from other teams, 25-26 should be start of youth movement

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTBF81</b></div><div>I think he would fit in Tampa at either 2RW or 3RW, and it seems Tampa is a team that is reported to be interested. Tampa wouldn't even need the Sharks to retain now because of Sergachev's injury, which keeps the cost a little lower for them.</div></div>
As a Shark fan, and as a Barabonov fan, I would love to see him get the opportunity to play for a good team and in the playoffs. I think he's the kind of player that needs the right linemates to thrive, can't generate on his own, but if that mix is found he can be productive.

That sharks trade is fascinating. Is Fabbri a cap dump and should Sharks get more for taking his contract? Worth the risk for SJ as they could trade him next year for more assets? Love the idea as a Sharks fan

Sharks decline. They could get at least a 2nd for Blackwood next year and if he plays as well as he has this year they are better off keeping him

Next Year with Hanifin and Hertl
I think the valuation is correct here however I wonder how the Sharks would weigh the lord of stability that Hertl provides at the current moment in the rebuild? Unless he’s replaced it forces young guy into a 1C when he’s not ready for it yet.
For Boston, can they afford to trade away more picks when they already have a thin prospect pool? Seems they’d need to use UFA instead?

Does that squeeze them in 25-25 though even they need to give Draisatl and Bouchard raises?

San Jose would be foolish to not explore what value they can get out of the cap space they have coming next season, this seems to be a possible option. Could offer Kahkonen, duclair or barabonov as sweeteners going to EDM
