So, Seattle gives up their 1st for a salary cap dump and a prospect that split time between the ECHL and AHL? Hard pass

Yzerman isn't giving up Edvinsson for Hanifin. And I HIGHLY doubt he's trading a player they just drafted this past draft for a past-his-prime defenseman that'll most likely be retired by the time ASP is ready to play for the big club.

Leafs Deadline 23-24 II
Damn near all of Seattle's roster is "middle six guys", so giving up their top defenseman for some more of the same would be ridiculous, and that draft pick doesn't move the needle anywhere near enough to make Seattle think about this. This trade is absolutely lopsided in Toronto's favor

I can't imagine Carolina gives up Necas. And I REALLY can't imagine they'd do so for Tristan Jarry

I wonder how Calgary would feel about a package of Veleno, Maatta and a 2024 2nd round pick for Hanafin (with an extension). This gives them a younger center, as well as a defenseman that can play in their lineup today

How far off
If I were Ron Francis, I'd probably be a little hesitant, which means it's probably close to a fair deal. Maybe the change of scenery gets Kappo going and this deal looks like a huge overpay in three years.

They shouldn't. Neither player is signed past this year, so basically you're trading Gourde for a 4th round pick. And I doubt Tarsasenko waives his NMC for Seattle this season

Selling for next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fixitf11</b></div><div>Just scroll a little bit higher and you’ll see my reasoning 🙄</div></div>
You can roll your eyes, but it doesn't change the fact that theres zero motivation for Yzerman to consider making this move. He ate a contract for Holland to acquire Kostin, he's not just handing him over for an older player without some sort of additional benefit. Eller's production is less than both Copp and Compher, whom he'd be competing with for ice time/role. So it's just redundant to trade for him when we already have two other centers that are slightly better versions of Eller as is

Selling for next year
There's a less than zero chance Yzerman takes an older and more expensive player in Eller for a younger, cheaper one in Kostin, without some sort of incentive coming Detroits way.
C'mon. You're not even trying

Guentzel NSH V2
Why would Seattle be motivated to make this trade? I get why Pittsburgh wants it, but what's motivating Seattle to say yes?
MAYBE they opt not to bring back Tatar, but I can't see them trading Tolvanen, who was basically "found money" and has done pretty well in their system. And Borgen is a decent, young defenseman that still has term left on his contract. That 1st round pick is a late teen's pick that I'm assuming wouldn't be able to help for at least two seasons AFTER the draft, which is in 2025. So that's three years in all likelihood that Seattle is waiting. Meanwhile they're out an NHL capable defenseman and a middle six winger (again, assuming they move on from Tatar) that can play in their system RIGHT NOW.
So all of this just to get back to my original point...why would Seattle want this trade?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>I admittedly don't know who Kartye is but unless he's some extremely highly touted prospect, this deal is a massive overpay. Larsson likely gets a 1st plus but not Minten, he's a prize</div></div>
He's arguably their top prospect (although the other argument would be Shane Wright), but the point being, I don't see Seattle giving up their top pair defensemen, and a top 3 prospect for a center prospect, a B-level prospect/3rd pair defenseman, and two draft picks. It doesn't make sense from Seattle's perspective to make this

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>erh1991</b></div><div>Think of Trey Augustine as a Carter Hart. Breaks into the league at a young age. Had a great world juniors and a big part of why MSU is having a good year. Also, this requires Cossa to get a couple good AHL seasons under his belt.</div></div>
You DO realize this is only one more season away, right? You have the rest of this season, and then next. And that's it. Then your scenario happens. So, let's just assume that Cossa has an absolutely lights-out season in the AHL in 2024/2025, AND let's assume Augustine decides to go pro after THIS season, and is the backup to Cossa next season in the AHL....You're just gonna have both of them up at the National level the following season?
That's a HUGE gamble that has way more risk than reward. At least to me, anyway.

Jackets
So, Detroit gives up one of its better prospects, and a 2nd round pick for two forwards that are gone at the end of the season, all to rid themselves of Copp's contract? They're not in "Cap Hell", so I'm confused as to why they would want to do this.
