Is it weird that it's miles wood going the other way that makes me weary of this Crosby trade

I'm sure Dubas would happily take a different option. I was just trying to mitigate some of the cap hit difference. I do like Wood individually and think he would likely fit well in Sullivan's system.

So Smith goes for a 3rd, then we have to add Whitecloud and Mcnabb. I’ll have what you’re having bud.

I couldn't care less about either Whitecloud or McNabb, just trying to offset the cap hit.

don't get me wrong i'd do the crosby trade but i'd like to swap wood with a better prospect and even another pick for some retention. I like what wood brings to colorado right now

If Avs keep Wood and attach say, Sean Behrens and a 3rd rounder, would that be OK and could you retain a bit?

Epstein called you? Interesting. I don't know him but I hear he's an island unto himself.

Theres a zero percent chance you get THREE 1st round picks for Ned and taking on Campbell's contract

Oilers decline. Dumb price to dump Campbell. Easy buyout

You consider this "easy?" I would call it painful and extremely inconvenient for a capped out contender.

Very easy. It saves money in first 3 years. And last 3 years it’s only 1.5M when the cap will be over 100M

I mean, it saves 1.1, 2.3, 2.6 compared to keeping him. But, 2.3 might be the difference in resigning a player or losing them.

I don't think it's 3 1sts worthy but a 1st and 2nd, probably. Throw in Ned (worth a 2nd or 3rd) and you have 2 1sts.

I disagree with all of this ACGM but the value in the Edm trade is only off by a single 1st.

Yes, every buyout saves money in some years. Very impressed you noticed. It is also dead money and when highest, $2.3m and $2.6m in 2026 and 2027 it will be very inconvenient. There is 0% chance the cap will be $100m in 2026 or 2027 either. The last three years EDM is so far out none of us have any idea if EDM will still be top contenders.
