Why do people keep trading for Roslovic? He is from Columbus, wants to play there and plays at a position of weakness for us. He isn't available without a massive overpay.

Jarmo might let Bean go for your first next year and a late first this year. We gave up a second for him this year and his value has skyrocketed since then. He has been better than most people's best case scenarios. Additionally, he is controllable for a long time and at a position where we have zero depth. Gonna take a big overpay for Jarmo to even answer the phone on him.

Domi with retention should probably return a late first. He has played well when he has been healthy and has showed what we thought he was prior to the trade. Nyquist has struggled a lot this season. Kind of expected after missing a full season, but he is just now starting to put it back together. With his contract, id expect a mid round pick that could move up to a second with retention assuming he continues to get back to where he was prior to the injury.

Blue Jackets TDL
Jackets aren't adding at the deadline. Nash and Evans make no sense at all.
I am somewhat torn on Schmaltz. I think the trade would have to be something like Gus or Bemstrom plus a slightly later pick for Schmaltz. I like his play but don't know if there is a big enough need for him with the guys we have coming in.

I don't get why we felt the need to give him the A. Maybe he was huge in the lockerroom, but he hadn't played in over a year and even before that he hadn't really earned the title on ice in my opinion. Now we put ourselves in a spot with a bunch of young wingers coming up and a guy in a leadership role that we realistically need to ship out. The league already thinks no one wants to play in columbus and trading your 4th captain/alternate in 12 months can't be encouraging to players.

That's a big number for yegor after a handful of games this year. I hope his play this year and next warrants a contract like that.
Hopefully we upgrade that last LD spot as well. Maybe Christansen will be able to fill that role, but i don't think gabe is the answer.
It's crazy the potential this team has. You didn't even sign a single UFA that isn't currently a jacket. It's hard to believe the potential depth the organization created in 2 seasons.

Oilers need a Shutdown D Goalie Third Line Center
I would think that Jarmo takes this deal unless he really wants to bring Domi back. Korpi has put up decent numbers when he has the full time job. When he is in a rotation he is below average at best and our defense has done nothing but leave him out to dry all year. I would like to think we could get more back since we are retaining on both and taking back a bigger salary, but Korpi has put up such bad numbers this year that I don't really envision a better offer.

I'd be fine with bringing Koskinen in as a backup because I want Tarasov playing every day in Cleveland. There is no chance the jackets retain and give up a pick though. We will most likely just sign someone this offseason for no cost.

It doesn't really matter, he is a UFA anyways and I can't envision any way he was ever coming back next year. At this point I just want to see Bayreuther keep getting chances. Carlsson shows no sign of being an NHL player and should follow Harrington on waivers in my opinion. I don't think any of the Cleveland guys are ready to be moved up, so its not like there is really a massive log jam there.

My ideal CBJ offseason
I don't like the idea of losing Laine unless he won't sign long term. He has top end skill you can only hope to draft, so I don't see a reason to take a chance on picks when you already have a sure thing.
I assume you are also trading Domi at the deadline rather than just let him walk.
At least one of Bemstrom/Tex/Foudy should be moved at the draft. Give them as long as possible to prove who should stay in Columbus.
I hope we do something to upgrade that last LD spot. Carlsson, Harrington, Bayreuther are all adequate 7th or 8th defensemen. I'd like to see a UFA signing of a physical stay at home guy here. We need some kind of physicality and that is really the only open spot going forward. Bring some one in to protect the young guys.

Tough to say. He get's no help, but will make some huge saves to bail the team out, then he lets in a soft one. He's better than the numbers present but not sure he will ever be a #1 goalie in the league.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>I wouldn’t make that trade for Pettersson either, sorry but he isn’t worth 3 1sts, 2 of which being valued in the top 10 right now.</div></div>
I agree. I don't think we can afford to lose boqvist in this. The lower first and Johnson is probably best I would be willing to go. Maybe add Foudy, Bemstrom, Gus, Tex and get a lower pick in return depending on the winger.

As a jackets fan I'd love the Petterson trade, but gonna have to go for more quality than quantity to get a guy like him. Would take a first this year and a better prospect as a starting point. I start with the lower first this year, second next year and Tex.

This is the exact opposite of what the Jackets are trying to build right now. Trading futures is not anything we should be considering. It should be another season/offseason of selling off for picks and prospects and adding when its a deal too good to pass up on.

Best Case CBJ TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>-All told, gonna be an interesting TDL. If the team is still competing, I could see Jarmo letting it ride, particularly if the CHI pick is still looking to be a Top-10 pick in the '22 draft. Highly doubt they give up assets for any rentals or short-term boosts; anything they pick up would likely have some long-term play for the team.</div></div>
I agree with everything you are saying. I think the only way we make a move to add is if a team needs to get cap compliant and Jarmo gets a deal he can't turn down. Would realistically need to be a defenseman that can contribute the next 3-5 years or a goalie if they want more time for Tarasov to develop. But I think the goal for this TDL is to clear out some of the mess to keep building and evaluating for 2023 and beyond.

He just hasn't had the ice time needed in order to show his true potential. IMO, he is worth more than a seventh. Harrington always seems to be the 7th D-man. Hoffman is someone we picked up from Carolina for a 7th because Jarmo and crew saw something in his play. Why would they turn around and trade him almost immediately before he has time to completely acclimate to the NHL and AHL.</div></div>
Too many wingers, especially bottom 6 wingers. His deal expires this year and there's no guarantee he would return to Columbus, hes also 29. Like I said, I like him a lot and he's still adjusting, but we have to clear out room for the Russians and draft picks.

Stenlund already went through waivers, so I assumed he would have no ability to be moved. Maybe injuries in the league change that, but I agree that if we can move him we should. I think Bemstrom gets one more season. They were high on him entering camp after what appeared to be a big offseason for him. I think they see if he can earn a spot once he returns from injury and then potentially move him in the summer.

We will be fine with forwards like Jenner, Kuraly, Bjorkstrand, and to a lesser degree Voracek, Roslovic and Laine. Not worth keeping a guy around for leadership if it takes time away from a potentially core piece of the future. I'd much rather see Foudy, Angle, Tex etc develop.

A Columbus Conundrum
Kuraly isn't going anywhere. I think we move Nyquist, Tex, Foudy, Bemstrom in that order. Potentially sign Domi because I think he is a different player with fans and he may want to stick around once he bounces back.
Not necessarily in this order for lines but could have
Laine - Sillinger - Voracek
Johnson - Roslovic - Bjorkstrand
Domi - Marchenko - Chinakov
Robinson - Kuraly - Jenner
Leaves Nyquist, Tex, Foudy, Bemstrom, Hofmann all out of the lineup.

Yeah I'm not really sure what the market for Nyquist will be, so values may be a little off, but I have seen ranger fans complaining about lack of wingers. Jackets have a surplus. If they can clear out space for another young guy who will be here when we are ready to compete, its worth trying to pull off.
