<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fil97</b></div><div>you'll see next season already... don't worry about it.
and please explain how you're goalie pool is great when your best goalie prospect is the one we traded to you knowing he wasn't close to be as good as Blomqvist ....
no cliff after yager and boom. koivunen is a top 6 sure thing and broz and ponomarev great third line centres (broz has more margin to be top 6 guy).
obviously we don't have a deep pool considering we have won 3 cups in the last 15 years and always contending. but quality over quantity. always. is better to have 1 Blomqvist than 4 Calle clang</div></div>
Dostal. He just played his rookie season and looked great (sadly that’s a .902 behind this ANA team). He’s ready to be a 1A at 23. Our next best prospect is Clara. On top of that we also have Suchanek, then Clang and Buteyets. We really don’t need more, as promising as Blom was. It makes zero sense to open up a top 6 hole for someone to compete for a 1A that you already have filled, especially when 1B has a $6.4M veteran logjam and plenty of promising players who already look the part to compete for that in the next few years
Yager looks great. But he’s playing in the WHL right now. We have a 3rd round D+1 sitting above him in the WHL playoff stats leaderboard right now. It’s just never even close to a sure thing that translates to the NHL. Zegras was a 60+pt scorer at center in his age 20 season. Yager is 19. Let’s see how next year goes, I’m hopeful for him, but not 60+ points hopeful
Koiv definitely surprised this year looking at his stats, but I haven’t seen a single Liiga game, have you? Or are you saying he’s a sure bet because you looked at his stats annd anssumed it? And again, he’s about to turn 21. Zegras was in his 2nd of back-to-back 60+ pt NHL seasons.
That’s my point. No 3rd line ceiling players thank you though
I think you’re taking this as a disrespect, which isn’t how it’s meant. PIT has been competing for years, and now has a bottom 10 NHL pipeline because of it. Thats a trade any GM would gladly make. But it does mean that (especially with the positional strength in the limited pipeline they have), that they just don’t have the assets to acquire Zegras 🤷♂️

On value, I take that as ANA. If they think they can re-sign him and want to.
However, Fowler has a 4 team trade list, TOR isn’t on it
Gibby outright said he isn’t playing for TOR, and has a NTC

ANA isn’t trading Zegras or their only promising RD prospect for Marner. Most of their veterans have also outright said they don’t want to play there (Gudas, Fowler, Gibby). If Marner is on the move this offseason, it isn’t to ANA

This. We have two goalies already, one of whom is overpaid and a $6.4M cap hit. No chance ANA takes Korpi even if we moved Gibby with all that term left. Try San Jose

plus any combo of pickering or broz plus some other assets is plenty for a guy like zegras.</div></div>
I wish you all the best with those prospects. That comment put not a single hint of doubt in the statement I made.
In your talent pool it’s Yager, then Blom (who is of no interest to ANA because we already have a great goalie pipeline), and then a cliff drop to the nexT guy. Glad you’re hyped on those guys though

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>with that foward core, if they can get a decent Rd for zegras, i think they should do it.</div></div>
If and only if they land Celebrini, which is like 11-12% odds, I agree they should consider moving Z.
But the far more likely outcome is that they end up taking a RD or maybe Demidov with the pick. In either case there’s no reason to move Z, and RD can be filled via FA

An Outsiders Vision - ANA
Necas for Z doesn’t make sense for ANA. Fill a hole on RW by opening one at LW with someone who also fills in really well at C whenever McT or Leo are injured. Necas is an absolute steal on his current deal, but will almost certainly be overpaid starting next year for the duration of his new contract. He has solid production, but all his advanced stats are very concerning. Im out on him for ANA, but totally the right move for CAR to shop him
Any top 6 RW on a 2 year deal is a good add. Thats the perfect amount of term for ANA
We could really use a better RD than Chat though. Roy from LA is my preference rn
On the RFAs let Grouxl walk. Possibly Jones. Lacombe costs more. And though I like Vaak, the team did seem to prefer Lindstrom
Positionally Gauthier on the wing with Leo is my guess

Habs Draft Demidov and Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Antorche</b></div><div>What are Anaheim top 3 guys you want to draft ? Just out of curiosity, cauz I know you have a ton of prospects but which position could use another top 10 pick. Thanks!</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Our positions of need are RW and RD. So our first two choices would be Celebrini (BPA, ha ha) and Levshunov. I assume that the next tier is among RDs Jiricek, Parekh and Yakemchuk, RW Helenius, and BPA Lindstrom. My choice would be Parekh. I don't include Demidov in the mix because I think that drafting Russians is risky.
I think that we'll have a good shot to select Levshunov at #3. If Chicago stays at #2, in my opinion they're almost certain to take a forward to play with Bedard, and if San Jose loses the #1 spot, they're just as likely to take a forward or LD like Buium or Silayev as they are a RD. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.</div></div>
Depends on who you ask. No matter what we all agree Celebrini would be 1, and Levshunov would be in our top 3. I personally like Demidov at 2, but it’s fair to say that the majority prefer Levshunov. I personally wouldn’t trade down if any of Celebrini, Demidov, or Levshunov are available at our pick.
To me the trade is only happening if Celebrini and Lev are taken, and Verbeek isn’t as hot on Demidov as I am. Or maybe if he’s really hot on Parekh (who also paired with Mintyukov in juniors).

Dreaming but semi-realistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CHAR</b></div><div>Cause that's what the tool says that much cap relief is worth...
https://puckpedia.com/CapRelief
Like I said, that is putting the contract into a vacuum and ignoring the player completely. Go the other direction.... if you were to trade a pick(s) only for Skinner the player ignoring contract what value would you put on him? I honestly don't know what value I'd give him but I don't think I'd trade a 24th overall draft pick for him. I don't know, maybe he is worth that much.
Where he breaks down a bit for me is if he is a 50-60 point player or an 80 point player? He's scored 50-ish points in a season a lot more often than he has 80. You should be able to get a 50 point player in free agency without giving up any value. Is he really all that much better 7M than Vatrano was last season 3.6M? Would you trade a 24th OA pick for Vatrano? I wouldn't.</div></div>
I’m not sure I’m buying the tool’s valuation on this one at all. Like you said, Cap relief isn’t made in a vacuum here, there’s a player that comes along with it who has very material value. We’re not simply retaining $7M. We’re taking on $7M and then getting roughly 30 goals and 30 assists per year. Those are very different things. Would we use Puckpedia to evaluate Terry’s trade value as a $7M cap relief?
I’d argue that Vatrano isn’t a good comp at all either. If he had the year he just had before FA, he’d cost a heck of a lot more than $3.7M to sign. It’s incredibly rare and lucky to find a 35 goal scorer in FA for under $4M, he’s a huge outlier
Frankly, the idea that you could go from 28th to 11th while adding a ~60pt scorer at a position of need on what would be a maybe $1.5M-$2M overpriced contract for 3 years seems outrageously favorable to ANA imo if anything.

It doesn’t do Buffalo any good to burn money and get nothing for it, and late firsts don’t do much for a team with a loaded prospect pool. This just doesn’t work for Buffalo.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CHAR</b></div><div>Your compensation for 7M of Skinner over 3 years is way light using PuckPedia's tools. The Ducks should be getting the value of a 9th OA draft pick for that contract and the difference between the Buffalo #11 and the picks from the Ducks is only 24 OA. The BUF pick alone with no picks going back isn't enough if we're talking about a pure cap dump. I guess you are giving Skinner as a player some value to off set, but I still think the Ducks lose a lot of value here.
I slotted the Edmonton pick at 28 since we won't know where exactly that pick is for a few weeks. FWIW.</div></div>
Hey hey Char! Help me understand why Skinner would cost a 9OA to move at $7M. He has 92 - 99 -191 in 233 games over the past 3 seasons
For context, none of us are upset about Terry’s $7M, and he has 80 - 102 - 182 in 221

Yeah I don’t personally agree with that viewpoint. At his full cap hit I see it more as just a non-starter. The BUF 1st rounder is super interesting to me (I love Helenius and see a great Yakemchuk fit for ANA, one of whom should be available at 11OA). I could see it being considered with some retention
What about something like:

ANA fan who’s been wanting to trade Gibby for years here. I see no way they take Skinner.
The last year of his deal is the one that makes it a non-starter. All of Leo, Gauthier, McTavish, Mintyukov, Zellweger, Luneau, Colangelo will come off ELCs, and Zegras will also need a new contract.
1 year less and for the ‘24 BUF 1st it’d be worth considering. But it just isn’t worth risking the ability to retain a core piece, and it’ll absolutely become a problem then

I’ll join the ANA consensus here. Despite playing a position of need, Lilj is a bad fit and I’d have zero interest in him in ANA. The RD need is a big defensive minded top 2 capable RD to partner with Minty and/or Zellweger.
Robo could maybe be interesting for ANA at the trade deadline to fill Vatrano’s shoes after they move him. But he isn’t close to enticing enough to move Vatrano for. We’ll take a late first type return like we got for Henrique
