Miller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>remowilliams</b></div><div>First ,I respect your opinion. Its what he brings to our team that makes him so valuable to us. I heard yesterday in our local media that the canucks are very much leaning towards keeping Miller, because he drives play and is a leader both on and off the ice, pretty hard to replace him. Hes our most consistant / best player. Also, think what you may, but we are still all in on making the playoffs so chances are we keep him.In my opinion they should extend him weather we make the playoffs this year or not. These are strictly my opinions and i know i may not speak for other Canuck fans and thanks for yours.</div></div>
The reason Vancouver is thinking of moving Miller now when his value is high. They won't be able to resign him with Boeser getting a contract end of this season. Canucks aren't getting out of the first round if they make the playoffs. These type of trades are common in the cap era, when you have to sign players long term who are due for a huge raise. If the Canucks don't trade Miller this year the price will go down, especially with teams not looking to keep Miller past next year. The Rangers trade Miller and Mac in 18 because they knew signing Miller and or Mac would have been impossible with the team on a decline.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HOCKEYBOY448</b></div><div>Stop being delusional. They’re not winning the cup this year. And again with these stupid Miller trades.</div></div>
I don't think you understand we have a very tight window because of the tight cap space we have in the coming years. Are biggest factor on why we can't compete with teams like CAR, flames, Panthers, and Tampa we do not have a great third line. How long do you think we can go with Igor being the reason for winning games ? We need a third line over haul. Same way Tampa did two years ago. We have a great opportunity at the cup this year because of Igor, but not Igor alone. Our defense is good might need a little more depth. But it's our third line where we aren't that good. The Canucks are looking to move him because they know they won't be able to sign him and Boeser when his contract expires. The smart thing to do is to keep the younger better player and get a great return for Miller now and not next year. And people commenting it starts with Schneider are insane. The Rangers or any organization are not going to trade a top tier prospect for a player for two years knowing they won't be able to resign him and he will be on the other side of 30. wanting a big contract. The market for Miller is high but not at the asking price the Canucks or Canuck fans think they are going to get. The trade works out for both. The Canucks get a young player with good contracts. In the cap era these type of trades happen to keep the better players.

tdl 2022 or maybe real soon
We need to strengthen our third line. We have no third line and we put too much pressure on the first two lines. Toffoli is good winger that can still play, what he did with Caulfield in the playoffs last year that was their best line. He can easily teach Laf. how to be a better player. Letkonenen is a good two way forward that would be a great fit for the second line. I picture the future lines in a few year is laf and Kridz switch from 1st line to 3rd line. What we need is center prospects which we lack big time.

What about critique towards the clownish GM</div></div>
Look at McCavoy. He settled for less so he can re-up after the bridge deal. Which his next contract will be in the 8-8.5 range for sure.

Take a look at the trade between Toronto and Penguins regarding Kessel, very similar situation. Arizona would take on that contract for 5 years so they can actually reach the cap floor. You guys know if a team retains salary they don't actually pay the salary. To respond to Eichel being a 2nd line center and Zib 1st line. The pens have Crosby as one and Malkin as 2nd. Malkin on any other team would be a number one. Fox would be smart to take that bridge deal so he can then turn around and get 9.5-10 mil. If we can pull off this trade our team will be able to compete for years to come for sure. Further more on Fox, the league cap will go up, means players salaries will go up.

I don't think it would be ... If you give Ziba a 8 year contract he will be 37 Kuzy has 4 years left on his deal which will make him 33 which to me would make it a better contract to have instead of trying to have a high priced Center on the decline. Kuzy and Panarin will be very dangerous

debatable but I would do the trade because Zib will want a huge raise next year where we won't be able to pay him.

do you guys hear what the insiders have been saying ? Twitter world thinks Buffalo is going to get a big return for Eichel ... thats the complete opposite he is unhappy there. Buffalo is not gonna get a big return for him. Zibb would go there to prove he is still a good player to cash on in on FA. He will be in a place where not a lot of pressure is on him. I think its good trade for both sides. Similar to the Nash trade from years ago.

NYR got Laine
This would be a good trade even with adding Carolina's 1st round pick. The only problem i see is next year when you have to pay Laine and Zibanejad (following year) - each will get 10 mill each easily. I would do the lines a little different.
Panarin - Zibanejad - Kreider
Laine - Chytil - Kakko
Laffy - Howden - Kravtsov
4 line looks fine

Carolina gave up a 1st for Skjei because Pesce, Hamilton and Vatanen were hurt. They can move him because they no longer need him. We do not need right-handed D men, we just stole Joey Keane from NYR. We just need to clear the space.</div></div>
You think Keane is ready for the NHL ? You gotta remember WPG needs to be able to fit Skjei under the cap. They have to sign Laine in the end of the 21 season. That won't be cheap.

Gardniner has NMC and Carolina didnt just give up a first to trade Skeji to WPG. They need a Right d-man, but have limited cap space.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stanley_Cup_To_Manhattan</b></div><div>They'll get more in an offer sheet.</div></div>
That's if a team would offer a big contract to a player who really hasn't produced big numbers but is trending up. No team is going to offer him 6 mil a year especially with the flat cap for the next 2 years min. You are going to see salaries go down and shorter contracts especially RFA's. Like if you see i have ADA at 4mill per but thats for 2 years. It's good for both sides at the end of that contract he will still be a RFA. and that time we can see if Nils is ready for the NHL. and or if Fox is good D man. At the point hopefully ADA gains some trade value and we can get high level prospects and or draft picks. Thats how you constantly load up the farm system. Similar to what Tampa has been doing, the only issue you run into(not bad issue) is if you hit on a late round pick (Kuch) He will eat away at your cap.

They are in cap hell they can't afford to take salary back on a trade (Tampa). So they have no leverage for the asking price and other GM's know that. Think it happens on Draft day to be honest. They don't have a first round pick and they need to get entry level contracts (Tampa).
