its kinda sad but you are actualy better just sending a few guys to minors or you would be under cap lower limit. buffalo had to take on a 6 m$ cap hit so this wouldn't be issue after the jack trade.

Some of those guys are former sabers would be funny to see them come back. Buffalo will take back Kane for another 1st from sj, we didn't like how late the last one was especially with Ott getting top 5 the next year.

Trade Deadline Pickups
i cant see any team holding 2.6m$ for 5 years after trading a player, maybe 1m$ as a max. could bite hard down the line
tho i dont see why buffalo wouldn't withhold salary on both players heading over if its a cap issue for just this 1 year hit mainly.
so miller 1.6m$ retained for 1 year and Eichel for 1m$ for 5 years.

"If matched, the player remains with his team under the terms of the offer sheet he signed and he would not be eligible to be traded for one year."
so if Montreal matches KK....they will have to QO first to his 6.1m, try to extend him, or he will accept his QO before he is eligible to be traded. He has all the control to how valuable he is as a traded piece 1 year later bc of the timing of the OS. It was smart business by him and his agent</div></div>
so if kk rights are traded to buffalo and buffalo (not mtl) matches then that's not an issue. buffalo would then just not be able to trade him for a year.

Vegas would have legitimate top line center for 3m$ for 2 years, hes no eichel but still capable and better option then Stevenson or Nolan.

And don't tell me the Rangers have been a good team the last 5 years, they have been as much of a train wreck as Buffalo (almost). Eichel has out produced zeb on a worse team with a busted neck. But ok it's an overpay.
Jokes aside outside of rangers fandom there isn't anyone saying zeb is better then Eichel. I think they are both good players but with the uncertainty of the injury jacks value is lowered and nyr gets lower cost.
If you really think zeb is better compare his numbers with no sandwich man on his line. That's most fair way to compare.

2 first and a 2nd for top line center and 2.5m$ more cap space seems fair to me.
arizona just got 2x 2nd rounders and a 3rd for 4m$ cap space over 2 years
dubois is last top center player traded and he fetched a 2 former 1st rounders (laine, Roslovic), but dubois has never produced as much as Zibanejad.

why not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joronto</b></div><div>I appreciate your good intention.
My arguments are based on insider information.
„It's almost every hockey playing kids dream to make NHL“... and PLAY - so Eichel wants surgery and a quick return to the ice instead of sitting on LTIR while Zona tanks.
If he would get artificial discreplacement instead of an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion he will need only 7 weeks to recover due to Dr. Chad Prusmack.
And obviously NOT EVERY team can trade for Eichel because It's about the valuable cap space and qualitative assets. That has nothing do with „big teams“.
As a matter of fact Adams wants picks and prospects in return and he often is not getting what he wants - also the trade history in Buffalo is bad as hell. Risto was a positiv surprise. Also Armstrong wants picks and prospects and no NHL money.
And I am not dramatic - you have to face the facts: Buffalo is not the place to be for an NHL player right now and it was getting even worse last season. On of my best friends is a big Sabres fan so I am well aware of the situation.
Do you really think anyone would choose to go to Buffalo if he would have the choice? I mean look at Owen Power… His family was more excited than him. Almost 20 minutes of interview and not on sentence about anticipation to join BUF at all..:AFTER HE WAS SELECTED FIRST OVER ALL. Fun fact: he was growing up as a Leaf Fan.
A franchise that waisted a hole era. O´Reilly, Kane, Reinhardt, Ristolainen, McCabe, Lehner, Ullmark even Bogosian and now Eichel. It is so frustrating. And Dvorak already plays in the NHL so I guess he has something else in mind than rebuilding a permanent rebuild. But you are right: he has neither a M-NTC nor a NMC.</div></div>
You have valid points but anyone who writes 4+ paragraphs to explain there opinion is obviously a little emotional about subject. To add to that I do care about the sabers and we have dedicated fans from the city as well as players development here (Patrick Kane as the big one). If you want to see a 1st overall hate the idea of going somewhere look no further then McDavid.

And Skinner can't be buried. Six more glorious years....</div></div>
They haven't built or drafted well around jack and when team splurged it blew up in face( Skinner, hall, Kane, ROR and okpo).
I just put a trade idea in they can take a bad contract or overpay someone for a year it doesn't matter.
Any player can be waived and sent down. I don't see anyone picking him up off waivers on that note .

I think most Buffalo fans just want the deal done. I don't think it's possible to get fair value on jacks potential anymore. So just lots of future assets and good player back is fine with me.
